~Sabrina~
"Why?"
"What do you mean by why? Any other she-wolf wouldn't even question my intentions and would jump into taking the offer."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "And that's exactly why my name is Sabrina and not any other she-wolf."
He didn't reply to me straight away, but after a while he said, "I admire that, Sabrina."
His words warmed me and I looked away from his direction before he could catch my cheeks blossoming. He was really such a sweet soul, and will make a good friend too.
"I think a thank you is the word you're looking for." He said, and I had to stop myself from laughing because someone who sees me will think I'm high.
"Don't be cocky."
I'm still dealing with your cocky brother and really can't do anything extra. But I don't let the thought get to him though.
"I'm not. Just stating an obvious truth. It's okay to thank people when complimented instead of just blushing all by yourself."
I could tell my face was already blossoming to a deep red rose. "Gosh, you're proving to be horrible."
"In a good way right? Now can I come over to sit with you?"
"Yes please. And that's because I feel so sorry for the girl you're ignoring."
"She'll be fine, I promise." He said, then I watched him cut off his conversation with her.
She walked away with an annoyed look on her face and after a while, Kael was walking up to me.
My eyes fell on Khemos who watched his brother's back. I know he doesn't appreciate his brother talking to me so I can imagine how this will rub off on him.
The moment he figured out his brother was headed to my direction, his countenance changed and he immediately locked eyes with me.
There was a glint of anger, warning and something else I couldn't place from his hard stare. I swallowed and looked away, unable to handle the glare that felt like it suffocated me.
"Hi." Kael said as he stood before me now.
I forced out a smile. "Hello." I said and tapped the space next to me.
"Your countenance sort of dropped when I got here."
And again, I can't tell him it has to do with one of his brothers.
He sat down beside me and turned slightly so he could be looking at me. "Is everything alright?"
Maybe I should talk. "It's Khemos. The way he was staring at me when he saw you walked up to me."
He sighed. "Oh, just forget him. And how're you feeling now after the rigorous training he put you in?"
I flexed my arms and stretched out my legs a bit. "My muscles are recovering pretty fast. That's why I'm here, otherwise I would have been in bed."
"Then I'm happy you're here."
I looked at him and smiled. "Yeah, me too. Maybe I won't regret this night after all because I have you to talk to."
He spread out his hands. "Well I'm here. What do you want to talk about?"
"Let's start while you and your brothers were in such a mood when you first came in. Kaleb and Kehmos..." I swallowed after saying his name and I hoped it wasn't so obvious to pass any sort of message to Kael. “They both looked like they didn't want to be in this setting. You too.”
"But I'm better off now."
I nodded. "Yes you are, but I could feel how thick the tension was when you all came in."
"Just crazy drama happening between us that I don't want to talk about. And you're a good distraction too."
A good distraction? So whatever it was must be quite deep. "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."
"Thank you. But if you want to hear some tea, we can talk about the she-wolf from earlier that had been flirting with me."
"Ohh.. I'm in for the tea."
"So, her name is Ella. We met in our first year here and we're in the same class. We didn't talk much, though we were paired in projects on a few occasions, but one certain time, we were both at a party together and she got dared to kiss me during a truth or dare game. It happened, it was intense and our chemistry grew from there. When I realised she was using me to build her status in the Academy, show off and demean others, I had to cut off my ties with her but she has never really moved on since then. Always bringing up unnecessary drama whenever she sees me."
"That's quite...should I say interesting?"
"Interesting? So you find this funny?"
I was now laughing. "Yeah, I do."
He shook his head while smiling at my silliness.
"Let me pour you a drink." I said and poured out a glass full of wine for him.
He raised his glass to the air. "Cheers to friendship."
Ohh...wow. I wasn't expecting to hear that.
"Why are you looking surprised?"
I blinked rapidly. "Do you see me as a friend?"
He nodded while staring at me with an of course look.
"And you're not scared I'm a leech like other girls you've met in the past?"
"Yes. I know a genuine fellow when I see one. The thing with Ella was just a whirlwind romance of the moment which kicked off from a kiss."
"Fair enough." I said while trying not to make it a big deal that Kael just proposed friendship with me because I literally felt like screaming at top of my voice over the loud music.
