Chapter 33

~Khemos~ I already heard the words play out in mind before he got to say them out loud. "That was f*****g rude, Khemos. Why would you talk to her like that?" I sighed and said nothing. I already have a lot I'm pondering over to worry about his new found friend. "You need to stop with this attitude of yours. Being rude is not cool in any way." "Can you stop chastising me? We have a lot more things to be worried about than her. This pack is in danger and don't think the Academy is excluded because this campus is also situated in the pack even though it's in the outskirts. Mother was badly injured and is responding slowly to treatment." I took a deep breath, then continued in a much lower tone. "But you are more concerned with making new friends, and their feelings. That's none of my business. You can go to her if you wish." I expected Kael to say something, but he stayed mute. I would bet that he would have been staring at me with that challenging glare he holds in his eye when we have issues if we weren't in public view. "You're just mean." He said with a shake of his head. "Are you just finding out?" I said and that got him glancing at me with a glare. I laughed, but it was devoid of humour. "You are my brother, and family comes first always as father says. That's why I'm trying to protect you but you're not seeing it as protection and that's sad." Kael turned slowly to me and stared at my sideview profile. "So what are you saying in essence?" "You need to stay away from her." He began laughing and that got me riled up but I kept my cool. "Why would you say that? You don't know anything about her to say that." My jaw ticked and my eyes slowly moved to where she stood. Yes, I don't know anything about her but I know her kind. All innocent, beautiful and sweet while acting up like they've got a good character, but they are the real vipers. They sneak their way into your life and get stuck like a pest infestation that's hard to get rid of. You enjoy their presence, thinking it's all good intentions till the effects of the infestation becomes visible. She has what it takes to make anyone that looks hard enough to become her victim, and I'm afraid Kael is too soft to stand against her. That's if it hasn't started happening. I could tell all of that and I don't need to know everything about her to know that. "Girls like her are vipers. You've been warned so don't say I didn't warn you. You've had your fair share of experience with Ella but it seems you didn't learn your lesson well." I said, then looked in Kaleb's direction. He has been aloof since we got here. "You and Kaleb are proving to be a headache to me, and it's my responsibility to make sure you don't take the path Kaleb has taken." I'm not going to advise Kaleb against Jacqueline. His betrayal just hit different and talking about it would make everything worse, to be honest. "You don't have any responsibility over the choices we want to make." "Kael, you know one thing about you... You always," I stood talking when Mr Brown walked in. There was a need to take a deep breath because I was just so overwhelmed and over the edge. Mr Brown addressed us all and instructed us on what we would be doing today. Two round drill sessions then combat. Sabrina finally came over with a long face. She was avoiding eye contact, looking everywhere else but me. The tension between the four of us was so thick and it was beginning to make my skin crawl. Did I say too much? I won't blame myself as much because Sabrina was at fault here. She was the reason why I was getting antsy, uncomfortable and, and, and... I don't know. But a lot of things about her made me uncomfortable and tense. "I hope you're going to do better than the last time, today." I muttered in a voice that was barely above a whisper after she took position. She didn't say a word back, but I watched how her shoulders stiffened. She was not ready, perhaps scared. I was caught in the middle of a decision I had to make. Make her feel miserable after the end of today's training, or take it easy on her? "Khemos can we start?" Kaleb said, drawing me away from my thoughts. I shot him a glare and moved to the tunnel. He doesn't have any right to speak to me. "Lead us, Rina." I said to her, sweeping my hands towards the tunnel for her to begin the drill. She moved too slow for my satisfaction and I got in after her for command while the rest followed. "I don't like that pace. You have to move faster." I called out to her. I wanted the adrenaline rush that comes with training, but she was busy moving like a damn snail and I was behind her so there was no way I could have faster as well. I moved closer to her in the tiny space we shared, careful not to let her round and perfectly shaped ass come in contact with any part of my skin, then grabbed her shoulders. The intention was to force her to stop moving and speak some sense into her while looking face to face, but the moment my hand came in contact with her skin, I felt a surge of electric wash over my body that left me frozen in place.
