~Khemos~
"Sorry for being late, Sir." I apologised to Mr Brown on behalf of me and my brothers.
"That's okay. You may all come over here."
We all walked in majestically and all the students stared in surprise. No, the ones surprised were likely freshers because older students here know the drill. They know we never serve punishment along with our fellow students.
I passed Sabrina who was standing and staring at us with a look of surprise on her face as well. I pinned her with my stare and watched her shuffled her feet uncomfortably before looking away. I loved seeing how uncomfortable she was when I did that, but it always left me at a loss because I couldn't look into her eyes. There was something about those hazel eyes. It was beautiful, and seemed like a whole adventure to explore. If only I could stare longer, I'm sure there are discoveries about her I would uncover. I wanted to know more.
How much of an attention seeker was she? How much of a seductress was she? I needed to know all these things...for what? Put her in her place, avoid her or chase after her?
Damn NO on the last one. I knew females like her pretty well. They act innocent and sweet, but their intentions are always vile.
We go to our usual spot which we usually take in the Royal hall. A few students were loitering around our spots but they parted away when I gave them a hard stare.
"Let's get to business for today. All freshers come this way." Mr Brown said and pointed to his left side where they all filed to.
"We will be starting with combat for today. The first thing you need to master is your energy. Your own strength and willpower before the use of your special abilities. A weak physical wolf can easily be vulnerable even with special abilities. There are warriors without abilities that have taken down our kind with special abilities in the past. It's no news. All these can be traced to excessive ego and pride that you're not a match for an average wolf without powers....." I tuned out the words Mr Brown was saying.
These are things he says every new academic session to freshers and I can quote him word for word.
I focused on staring at Sabrina instead who was paying attention to what Mr Brown was saying. She had this innocent look but the scam has already been exposed. She was nothing near innocent. My mind flashed back to how she had given Jake a lap dance.
Out of everyone in the room that day, she chose Jake. Dumb Jake. I don't really blame her because she's new, but her friends could have done better. Jake was known for all sorts of tyrant behaviours. He was a sort of bully who looked down on others when he was no better, and who always repeated failed courses. What he did last night has only added to his list.
I fisted my palm as how he had forced himself on her flashed through my head. As much as I loathed females, I hate seeing evil and believe every injustice must be paid with justice. I disliked females but I don't like seeing them treated badly, the worse is abuse both physical, emotional and all around.
She had called out to me for help since I was staring at her, but I didn't even move to act because she deserved it. I still remember the warning in my eyes when she sat on his lap and was about to start. Yet, she ignored and went ahead to give a complete psycho who can't control his desires a lap dance.
I don't know if she did that to make me interested in her, but it was so lame. She wasn't even as good at it as she thought she was. I also didn't do anything about her situation because I knew her friends would definitely figure out something was going wrong and come to her rescue, so there was definitely no need for me to bother myself with her misery.
However, Jake will face the consequences of his actions. Not because I cared about Sabrina but because genuine innocent ladies deserved protection from lunatics like him. I had Dickson scratch out his detention. Jake might feel he's free, but he's not because something more interesting is coming his way.
I tore my eyes away from her and decided to listen to Mr Brown instead before she tries any tricks that will get me roped in.
"One, two, three, four... One, two, three, four... One, two, three, four..."
Mr Brown was sharing the freshers in groups of fours for their combat.
My eyes went to Sabrina again. She was looking quite nervous and agitated.
No self confidence. That's pathetic.
"This is going to be an interesting watch." Kael said from beside me and I agreed to that, but didn't say it out loud.
One wolf I'm more interested in seeing how they will perform is Sabrina.
Not because I cared but because I wanted to see if she was good at anything else other than seducing people's innocent sons and staging acts to get attention.
"Now these are the rules." Mr Brown said after he was done sharing the groups. "No one must use their powers. Failure to abide by that will lead to punishment."
I scoffed. That was highly impossible. The majority of them will lose.
"For the feral wolves, you're not allowed to go feral. That's going to be worse for you because only the goddess knows how long it will take before your recovery. Now, I understand this will be tough on some of you because you're just discovering your powers and may find it hard to control yourselves, but you must give it your all. That's why you are here in this Academy."
He went further to position the groups and they chose their partners.
One group fought with two wolves facing each other. The first to go down took the second set's partner till there was only one winner.
Most of them failed and released their powers. Only one male wolf had succeeded so far from the three groups that had matched in combat.
I crossed my hand across my chest and leaned forward with renewed interest when it got to Sabrina's group turn.
She was taking down a male wolf who was every inch bigger than her.
Huh...she won't survive this.
Her hands were literally shaking as she took her stance. I watched as she took a deep breath and tightened her ponytail. Doesn't she have any other style other than ponytails? I wonder how she would look with her hair down. Probably more...what am I even thinking? Gosh.
The male wolf served a blow towards her and she rushed back like her life was at stake.
I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Something funny?" Kael asked and glanced at me.
I nodded. "I think your new found friend will get her ass beaten today."
He huffed. "Obviously. And she isn't my friend. Just someone I helped as a sane werewolf unlike cold-hearted wolves like you."
"Oh—it's good you aren't in denial." I said and at that moment she was trying to duck away from another punch but failed miserably, so she ended up falling on the floor from the impact of the blow.
The students around were smiling, laughing and some were holding back laughs.
Her fight was the worst ever.
"Hey, hold up. Just stop." Mr Brown came into her rescue as she lay on the floor helplessly while the male wolf charged at her to finish her off.
"I see you want to kill her. She's weak." He said with disapproval to her partner.
He nodded, and wiped his mouth with his now bloody fist.
"Get up, girl." He said to Sabrina but she laid still like she hadn't heard a word.
For a moment, I feared she was now unconscious, but she moved her fingers and then her hand.
"You will have to get up yourself. No one is going to help you." He said to her as she struggled to stand on her feet.
Damn. She was such a weakling, but strong when it comes to seducing males. Too bad she doesn't know a trick from seduction that can help her win against her partner.
After what felt like a lifetime, she stood to her feet while looking like she had just fought through a civil war.
"Oh my goodness, she doesn't look so good. I hope she won't continue with the fight." Kael said like his heart was tearing apart and it pissed me off.
"What's with you and the lady? I thought you said she's not your friend?"
He glanced at me. "And why are you so concerned about my personal wellbeing for her?"
I sighed. "You know what...it's always no good talking to you."
"What power category do you fall under? I'm sure you've learnt about that." Mr Brown asked as he looked down at her with both hands on his waist with a clear look of disapproval.
She looked up at him to answer, but staggered. "I'm feral."
Mr Brown nodded. "Hmm... I see. But you're too weak unlike other feral wolves that have fought. Have you ever trained before? Before you discovered you were feral back in your home pack?"
She shook her head and I had to resist laughing. Sabrina or whatever she calls herself was cooked. The goddess helps her if she survives this Academy.
