~Sabrina~
I blinked repeatedly, getting all fluttered as I stepped away from his path.
"I'm... I'm sorry." I stammered as I struggled to wrap my head over all that just happened.
He took one long look at me in curiosity then walked away without saying another word.
I looked up and noticed some of the students were staring at me and a few got their phones raised. I gasped and moved away quickly to go join my roommates at the table.
They were staring at me with questions on their faces when I got to them.
I sat, but they were still staring at me with weird looks. "What?" I finally asked them as I grew uncomfortable with their stares.
"We saw that." Aurora said.
I decided to play dumb. "Saw what?"
"How you ran into Khemos." She said, and raised her phone to my face.
A video was playing. It was a video of our interaction, but this was quite different from what had happened. What I watched now was a short clip of Khemos staring down at me like he was irritated by my presence while I looked up at him, cowering in.....fear?
Did I look that frightened? I don't think so. The clip kept playing repeatedly and it took me a while to realize that it was now a sticker that was made out of what had happened.
What the hell! "Who did that? That's absurd. I wasn't even looking that way."
Lily and Aurora covered their mouths while trying so hard to hold back from laughing.
"Seriously?"
They took deep breaths and calmed down. "Sorry. It's just funny and I'm trying not to laugh." Aurora said as she placed her phone back on the table.
I rubbed my face. "This is crazy."
Lily reached for my hand and rubbed it. "I'm sorry, dear. But this is the reality of Wild Wolf Academy, especially as a newbie. I'll advise you to toughen your skin or you will get trampled upon."
I shook my head. "I don't want to hear more. It's only going to creep me out."
Aurora nodded. "Yes. It's better you remain in the dark and face everything a newbie faces without warning."
Okay, I could tell that was pure sarcasm. I looked up at her with a look that she should share some things with me, but she smiled and looked away.
"The less you know, the better it is for your sanity." She said while Lily nodded in glee.
I swear, these girls were beginning to scare the crap out of me.
I looked down at the phone in my hands when more texts came in.
Fiona: Are you still there?
Fiona: What's going on?
Fiona: What's the Academy like?
Damn. My girl was worried.
Me: Hi dear, everything is going fine for now. Please, can I call you later? Preferably on a call.
Fiona: Okay. I hope all is well. Talk to you later. (Kiss emoji)
"Let's go over and get our food." Lily said as she stood to her feet.
"Before that, I want to know how that got to your phone." I pointed to Aurora.
She looked confused for a while before she realized what I was asking. "Wait, do you think I recorded that?" She asked, and I shrugged.
"I'm trying to find out what happened."
"I would have had the full clip then. Someone posted that on Diamond's house group chat and it was shortened to a sticker which I think is a very cute one. You may want to be on my side if you want to survive this academy so quit the accusations. I'm m
going to forgive you for this, because you are new and it's not your fault." She then grabbed Lily and they walked away to the buffet.
Wow. What a great first day.
And who does she think she is? Queenbee?
Maybe I just have to play my cards right like she said. It's a bad idea to get on the wrong side with her and it seems as though she's going to drag Lily over to her side and make her avoid me if things go sour between us both.
I took a deep breath and looked around after getting a weird feeling that people were staring at me. Of course, my wolf's instincts were right. I was indeed getting stares from those around our table and those far off were pointing towards me.
Fuck.
How the hell did I get here?
I quickly used my hand to push some hair to my face stylishly to cover up my face a bit.
"That's not going to help."
I looked up to see Lily was back with a plate of Mac and cheese.
"Half of the wolves here are staring at me." I said the moment she sat.
"Yup. I know that." She said as she slid back into her seat. "Ignore all of that. It's not going to last for two days. They are so much obsessed over the Darkshadow brothers that they feed and live on every tidbit that has to do with any of them."
"Darkshadow brothers?"
She nodded as she began eating. "Yes. K brothers or Darkshadow brothers. Their father is Alpha Sinclair Darkshadow."
"Ohh... I'm getting chills just from that name. I can tell he's not someone to mess with."
"You're a hundred percent correct. He's who made Rogue Titans to what it is today, pushing the pack to more success from what his fathers had done. His sons will take over and they will be the strongest force ever. Rogue Titans will be unstoppable when we have our triple Alphas."
"You know so much about this pack." I said as I interrupted.
"I'm a member of Rogue Titans. A proud one at that."
"Okay. I see that."
We both laughed.
"Aren't you going to go get something?"
"I will. I don't have the courage to get up from here yet. They are still staring at me."
"Girl, if you go on with that attitude and mindset, you won't survive this Academy."
I nodded while looking around. "Okay. I've heard enough of that." I said and stood to my feet.
Lily smiled and gave me a thumbs up as she chewed with her mouth full.
Aurora was still at the buffet when I got there. She was stuffing her plate with chicken. I pretended I didn't see her and took a plate for myself.
"I'm sorry about what happened earlier."
I turned to her the moment I heard those words because I wasn't expecting them. "Sorry, what?"
"I'm sorry." She repeated again.
"Okay. I'm not mad at you."
Her face lit up with a smile and she began to twirl her hair with her finger. "Thank you. I didn't mean to come out that way. It hurts me that you could think I was responsible for filming you. I can't do that to you after promising to make your fresher journey bearable."
"It's all good. Let's put that behind us."
We got our food and returned to the table, ate and went back to our room.
Aurora told me about a welcome party for freshers which returning students also attend as well.
I wasn't in the mood to party, but they begged and pleaded with me to attend because it would be a lot of fun, so I gave in.
We had an hour to dress up and prepare for the party. Now I was stuck in a situation. I didn't have any good party wear. Well, I do have a few I could put on and look good, but from what Lily and Aurora were wearing, I knew I was nowhere close to looking my best tonight.
Mochi had never allowed me to get good clothes from the money I earned working at the pack. The few I had gotten in the past, she snatched them from me and burned them. She was the greatest witch of all time who didn't want to see anyone around her shine. Lucky for me, I got a lot of cash I had saved up from working with me which I can use to shop and get better things for myself.
"What's that you're wearing? No girl, I won't let you wear that." Aurora said as she eyed my outfit in disapproval.
I looked down at the black gown I had pulled out. It was the best I could find. "What's wrong?"
Aurora scoffed and turned to Lily. "Did you just ask what's wrong? Everything is wrong, dear. You can't wear that, but you can if you want everyone to start talking about you again."
"I think the dress is okay." Lily said and I sighed in relief.
I shrugged at Aurora. "Maybe it's just you."
"Whatever. I would have helped with one of my clothes, but you don't look like someone that wants help."
She was right. I would not accept her clothes. I would rather wear what I have no matter what it looks like.
"Are you girls ready?" I asked after grabbing a purse for my phone and lip balm.
Aurora took one quick glance at me. "No. We need to put on makeup. And you should too. This is the first party for the academic session, so it's a big deal."
She was applying blush on her cheeks and looked really pretty.
"I'm good. Besides, I don't wear makeup."
She shook her head as she rounded up. "I'm not having that. Come sit here. Let me make magic on your face."
Lily and Aurora gushed and hyped me up after my face was made up. This was a new look for me, and I kinda liked it.
"Thank you. I like it."
"Told you so." She said with a wink.
We all left the dormitory and got a cab that will be taking us to where the party was being hosted. It was a fraternity house and was quite far off from the official school buildings, hence the cab we got.
I could hear music blasting from the inside as we paid the cab driver.
"Oh my god, I'm going to have so much fun tonight. And I can't wait for the Fresher's initiation."
I stopped dead in my tracks while they made their way up the short flight of stairs that led to the main entrance.
"Wait. Did you just say initiation?"
I asked and they turned around and flashed their teeths...no fangs at me. I stared at them in utter horror.
What the hell! "What's... What's happening tonight, girls? Talk to me." I said, but they laughed and walked in.
No, I'm not going in there after what I just saw. Plus they were acting weird and suspicious.
'But these students are special wolves. You should be bracing up to see more weird stuff.' Lyra said. Of course, she was always going to push me to explore and do crazy things.
I turned around to head back to the dormitory but there was a huge guy blocking my path with two arms on his waist.
"No backing out, fresher. It's going to be a fun party." He said with a sleazy smile.
Why do they all think this will be fun for freshers? Aurora and Lily had abandoned me here, so I'm just going to go home.
"Get out of the way." I said with a frown, trying as much as possible to sound intimidating because those forearms he had were already putting me on the losing end.
"Really?" He said with a smirk and before I could notice what was happening, two more heads appeared from his shoulders.
I screamed in shock and everywhere went blank.
