Scene 1: The First Morning
Anya woke to the low, humming sound of a smart-home system adjusting the morning light. She was alone, the vast bed perfectly smoothed, leaving no trace of the forced intimacy. Kaelen Li was gone.
She found him in his private study, already dressed in a sharp graphite suit, reviewing data on three separate monitors. He didn't look up when she entered.
"Breakfast is in the east dining room," he said, his tone purely professional. "You have a tailor fitting at nine, followed by media training. You will be introduced as my fiancée at a private charity gala tonight."
"And the revenge?" Anya pressed, ignoring the breakfast command.
Kaelen finally looked up, his expression a mask of impatience. "Patience, Anya. Revenge is a delicate mechanism. You must first establish your foundation. You must become Mrs. Kaelen Li in the eyes of the city before you can strike."
He gestured to a small, velvet box on the desk. "This is a burner phone. It will be your only communication with your best friend, Seraphina."
Anya raised an eyebrow. "You want me to contact her?"
"We don't just ruin them; we make them complicit in their own ruin," Kaelen explained, his eyes glinting with cold strategy. "Send her a simple message: 'I need to see you. Don't tell Victor.'"
The audacity of the move took Anya's breath away. Seraphina, the traitor, would be drawn in by greed or guilt, and Kaelen would have her in his crosshairs.
Scene 2: The Rival Strikes
Anya spent the day enduring a whirlwind of fittings and media coaching. By the time the charity gala arrived, she was encased in a flawless sapphire gown and dripping in Li family jewels. Her appearance was flawless; her demeanor, taught to her by Kaelen's staff, was serene and elegant.
The moment she stepped onto the red carpet at Kaelen’s side, the flashbulbs exploded. She gripped his arm, playing the role of the devoted fiancée, while Kaelen projected an image of powerful, proud ownership. The lie felt suffocating, but the fire of revenge kept her standing tall.
They had only taken a few steps when a piercingly elegant voice cut through the clamor.
"Kaelen, darling! Leaving the bride-to-be out in the cold already?"
Yara—Kaelen’s official, dismissed fiancée swept toward them. She was a vision of entitled beauty, wearing a gown that was intentionally similar to Anya’s, but ten times more expensive. She didn't acknowledge Anya, addressing Kaelen with an infuriating possessiveness.
"It seems you forgot to mention I still hold the legal rights to your name, dearest. The prenup required three months' written notice and a public statement, neither of which you've provided." Yara smiled sweetly, her eyes flicking to the enormous diamond on Anya's finger. "Unless, of course, this is simply a contract arrangement, and the poor girl is about to find herself disposable."
The press went silent. Yara had thrown the ultimate grenade: a direct, public accusation of a fraudulent contract marriage.
Scene 3: Kaelen’s Gambit
Kaelen’s jaw tightened, but his public smile never wavered. He leaned close to Anya and whispered in her ear, his voice dangerously low, "Smile, Anya. She just gave us our opening."
Anya understood instantly. They needed to sell the "real love" harder than ever.
Kaelen smoothly stepped around Yara, pulling Anya directly into the path of the cameras. He ignored the question about the prenup and focused solely on Anya, lifting her hand the one with the massive ring and bringing her fingers to his lips for a long, slow, utterly possessive kiss that was meant to be seen by the entire world.
When he finally looked up, his eyes were burning with a convincing blend of fury and passion. He spoke directly to the cameras, his voice carrying the authority of a man who owns everything.
"Ms. Anya Lei is not 'disposable,' Yara. She is the woman I chose," Kaelen declared. He looked down at Anya, and in that moment, the cold CEO façade fractured, showing a flash of something dark and undeniably possessive.
He then delivered the final, devastating blow to Yara: a masterstroke of both business and revenge.
"In fact," Kaelen continued, his voice echoing through the silent crowd, "Anya and I had an actual meeting of the minds before this beautiful public engagement. My first act as a dedicated partner was to gift Anya a portfolio of assets—including, as of this morning's transfer, a controlling share in the three subsidiaries of Elias Wang’s company."
He locked eyes with Yara, then with the cameras. "Anya is not just my bride; she is now my business partner, effective immediately. And her first act? She plans to execute a massive, controlling sale of those subsidiaries. I suggest Ms. Yara and her associates get their funds in order."
The crowd erupted. Kaelen had just publicly revealed Anya's power and given her revenge its first concrete target: the subsidiaries that would cripple her father’s betrayer, Elias Wang. He had used Yara's spite to launch the first strike.
Kaelen turned to Anya, his breath hot against her ear. "Now, my beautiful wife, smile. You just started a corporate war."
With the initial strike made, what is the next step for Anya? Does she move quickly on her revenge, or does she seize the chance to finally contact her traitorous best friend, Seraphina?
