Elizabeth had her eyes fixed on the door, still no sign of Nikki, she looked down at her watch, Nikki was almost an hour late and she knew when she got here, she's going to cook up a ridiculous story for why she wasn't here on time. Typical Nikki. They both agreed to meet up at their favorite rooftop bar, ‘The blues’ for some drinks and also to catch up. ‘The blues’ was their favorite place to hangout. The aesthetics were mind blowing, and the atmosphere was serene. Everyone seemed to be whispering and Elizabeth loved it here. The icing on the cake was that they served the best cocktails in the whole of California, her personal favorite was the Piña colada.
Elizabeth just got back to Santa Teresa after her arts exhibition in Paris.
“Is this seat taken?” a male hoarse voice asked.
Elizabeth raised her head, and came face to face with one of the most charming eyes she'd ever seen.
“That seat is taken, you should sit somewh…...” She said, with her eyes still on the door. But before she could complete her statement, the young man was already seated across from her.
“I didn't see anyone here, so I guess you're waiting for someone.”
Irritated, Elizabeth looked at him and said nothing.
“ I am Richard,” he had this cocky grin on his face. “ I am the CEO of Rochester oils.” He sounded like he's been waiting for an opportunity to use those words.
Unclamping her jaw before she broke her molar, Elizabeth sucked in a fortifying breath through her teeth. “Richard, I don't care. Now please leave me alone.”
“ I'm just trying to be friendly.”
Elizabeth snorted. “ No you're not, you're bugging me.”
Richard looked like he just took a blow on the head. He was humiliated, nobody speaks to him in such a tone and manner.
He looked very upset, but the young lady across from him didn't seem to care.
“ You know you really need to fix that attitude of yours.” His voice went from sticky sweet to flinty in a heartbeat. He pushed the seat and walked away. He signaled to his personal bodyguard to meet him outside.
“Whatever.” Elizabeth called back.
Just as she was about to leave, she saw Nikki grinning and walking towards her. She didn't smile back at her friend, before she could mouth out her anger towards Nikki, she heard her say,
“Omg! Lizzie. Don't tell me you didn't get his number.” Nikki mouthed.
“Who on earth are you talking about?” Elizabeth asked, confused.
“ The handsome man that just left this table. Girl that man is hot. I could use some heat.” She said laughing and then she took her seat. “ I had an emergency call at the office, sorry I'm late, but come to think of it, I'm not sorry. You bagged yourself a hottie thanks to me being late.”
“Don't even go there.” Elizabeth said. Nikki is a handful and she knows that, but she wished they would just drop this topic already. She signaled the waitress, and they both ordered their drinks and the waitress left their table.
“So what's his name?” Nikki is not getting the hint that she needs to let it go already.
“Richard I guess, he said he's the CEO of some company, I think Rochester, but I didn't get any other thing he said.”
Drawing out her phone, and typing words I could not see, then she turned the screen and handed the phone to me, without saying a word, and there on the screen was a picture of Richard in his perfectly tailored suit, with a smile spread across his face. He had a set of perfect teeth. The headline read, “Richard Rochester, son of oil mogul and owner of Rochester Oil, emerged as the new CEO of Rochester Oil, following the death of his father.”
Looking up at Nikki, I knew what she was trying to do. I turned my attention to the little pastry box on the table. It had the logo of my favorite pastry shop. Just then the waitress brought our drinks and we both muttered a thank you.
“Please tell me that's chocolate because I need it.” For a brief moment Nikki looked clueless, then she sighed when she followed my eyes.
“Yes,” she said. “ It was a little peace offering for keeping you waiting. But I'm holding the cake hostage until you tell me everything you guys talked about.
“You know what? I told him off, and I guess he felt really bad about that. Now that's all, can I have my cake now please?”
“Fine, you can have it.” My response was not what she was expecting.
Blushing, I opened the little white box, and picked up my plastic fork. I took a spoonful of chocolate goodness, I rolled my eyes, I couldn't get over how delicious chocolate cakes are.
“So how was the art exhibition?” Nikki said, looking at me with admiration.
“It was great, I had a swell time, met a bunch of….” The sound of my phone ringing caught my attention. It was Pete. Why on earth is he calling?
I answered my phone after the third ring, after dropping the call, I felt sick in the stomach.

Richard motioned to the huge man standing beside him. Grey was Richard's private security and confidant, he knew almost everything about Richard. They were pretty close.
“Sir,” Grey said.
“I want to know everything there is to know about that young lady inside the restaurant. I mean everything.” Richard was still offended by everything that had transpired inside with Elizabeth. He had to prove to her that nobody disrespects him.
Putting the thought of Eliza
beth aside, Richard knew he had an important business to take care of.
