Chapter 2

THE condominium is packed with almost everything that I need in terms of appliances. I just need to buy foods to stock in my refrigerator tomorrow when the market's already open. I unpacked my things in the nearest room upstairs. The surroundings are full of pastel designs which gives a vibrant sight, there are also small plants at the corners and outside the veranda, and the space is enough for about 1-3 persons living inside. As I finished unpacking my stuffs, I walked towards my veranda and sniffed the air's purified scent. The wind is gently blowing some parts of my hair and I could feel a gentle warmth that's hugging me. Maybe God is watching over me? I looked down below and saw how wide my pool is; seeming like it could be filled with all of my friends. The pool's ocean blue color is getting more pleasing to the eye as the light emitting from the moon is reflecting onto it. My ringtone began to play so I picked up my phone from my pocket and answered the call from an unknown number. "Hola Rain!" A somehow familiar voice said. "Hola? Quién eres tú?" I asked who it was. A soft laughter was heard on the other side of the call. "Soy tu amiga en clase, Rain!" The caller proclaimed. A friend in class of mine? Who could it be? Don't tell me... "Si! Soy yo! Hermione Lartch," she interrupted my mind, and yes, she's really my friend back then. One and only friend. I can still remember how we are always competing on who's going to be the number 1 in class with regards to being the most talented. We talked about what happened to ourselves for many hours until we both fell asleep. THE next morning, the sun's shining too bright again. It's almost summer. I've already ate my breakfast after I went out to do some shopping and here I am, about to go outside again, to meet up with my friend, Hermione. I'm on my way to a park near my hometown, I just need a few more steps before I could reach the entrance when a pair of hands briefly touched my back. I faced who it was, only to see it was her. We greeted each other and went inside the park together. It's full of trees and fields of grass which makes the entire place green, creating a long calming effect to each person who walks inside the said park, or even if they're just sightseeing. There are lamp posts side-by-side that aren't lit yet. "Why'd you unexpectedly contact me, Hermione?" I instantly asked her after we sat on the swings. She looked kind of hesitant if she'll tell me or not but I persuaded her anyway. Hermione started to move her swing and looked at the sky. "Your mother... called me last night before our call," she slowly told me. Mom called her? "Why?" I asked impatiently, wanting to know the reason. She stopped and stood up from the swings, stretching like an 8-year-old kid then looked at me straight in the eye. "Your mother wants me to watch over your actions, Rain." She diverted her gaze from me. "Let's go play?" I smiled and went to the playground with her. We enjoyed our time until it was already evening, since we haven't seen each other for a long time after our graduation day in highschool. "Dónde vives ahora?" Hermione asked where I live as of the moment. I held my temple, thinking where I transfered to. "Hmm, I live in a condominium at Plaça de Tavernes de la Valldigna if I remember right," I answered. She looked sad after hearing my response. "You're a li'l bit far from my house." She said. "Let's go home and see each other this coming wednesday! You can't just standby and do nothing, vamos a conseguirte un trabajo," she continued, stating that I should go look for something to work on. What a tiring day. I went straight ahead home, sat on the floor facing my laptop and opened it. I used google to search for vacant jobs for people like me who haven't graduated college. The first thing that's common is being a teacher. I can't be meticulous with choosing something to work on right now, since I really need to earn money for my daily life. Payment for bills and also including my monthly renting fees while I stay in this condo. I already sent each one of them an application after finding 3 vacant workplace. Being a teacher in a particular school, an online tutor and being a secretary of a company. I wanted to finish taking my college years first before looking up for a job but I had no other choice. It feels like my mom despised me right from the start. I stood up and went into my study room, picked up a piece of stamp-it paper and a pen, then I wrote some notes regarding what I need to be prepared of during my interview. I shook my pen on my fingers as I was thinking of any possible questions that they might ask me soon like: my personal information, any experiences with a past firm, reasons why they should hire me, and everything else. A sudden repetitive knock in the front door broke my concentration. I left my study room and opened the door; where the noise was coming from. "Quié—" A loud thud was heard after my back hit the wall behind me. I wasn't even able to finish asking who it was. A stranger's hand was infront on my body while he's forcibly entering his tongue in my mouth but my teeth are not letting it pass, thankfully. I couldn't move as I was too shocked. My soul came back to me and my eyes widened the moment I realize what's going on. I grabbed his hands and twisted it over behind, which made him scream his lungs out. I didn't feel satisfied so I let go of his hands and slapped the hell out of him. "Who the hell are you!?" I asked out of frustration. He seemed frightened for a second by my sudden outburst then ran off. My energy is draining. I'm getting short on breath. Good heavens, does this really happen in the outside world, or is my life just full of misfortunes?
