Walking into the dark night with only the moonlight as a guide was supposed to be peaceful.
It was supposedly but then Something happened the lady with me is burning my back with her gaze.
I couldn't really blame her since she agreed to come with me despite not knowing who I am.
The idea of a stranger guiding you to a place you don't know kinda feels creepy.
So to lighten the mood I decided to talk.
"Miss Larissa how long have you been living in our village?"
I asked wanting to break the cold atmosphere around us.
"I have been in the village for 4 years, it's when the war is increasingly dangerous that even the capital is no longer safe"
She replied in a polite tone yet somehow I felt she was also keeping a line between us.
Make sense but still her vigilance is making feel guilty about inviting her.
"I see, how was the village, was it welcoming?"
I asked again wanting to lessen the distance between us.
She just nodded and smiled, "Everyone was so caring that I really hoped I could stay here"
It seems she has some circumstances.
"It's okay if someone is planning to hurt you our villagers are going to protect you. We are quite strong despite being a few"
I raised my fist in action to show her my sincerity. Again she just shook her head as if dismissing my idea.
"It's okay, though I applaud you for thinking I am running away"
"Weren't you?"
She stop for a bit and I was sure she was taken aback.
"You know...."
"We are here!"
I know I caused a stir but it doesn't matter I at least want to show her that this place is mot just welcoming, but also safe.
"What?"
"We are here" I repeated as I guided her gaze to the sky.
In that moment, when her eyes rested into the heavens her expression immediately changed.
"Wow"
I smirk seeing her expression.
"Yup, its WOW"
I just said observing her astonish face, it seem it was her first seeing a sky as bright as this one.
Where I brought her was one of the highest point of the village. One that seems to bring you closer to the sky. Its properly what makes the situation even more magical.
I didn't say anything just complete silence surrounded by the most brilliant amount of stars. I look at the stars again, this time something came crashing down into the atmosphere.
"Huh?!"
I could feel Larissa's emotion stir as her eyes filled with falling stars.
Looking into those eyes I felt like stars are becoming more dazzling than before.
I never knew a reflection can be that beautiful, her eyes mirroring the meteor shower above gave an ambience I never experience before.
Well its probably because most of the gazes I saw are filled with either contempt or death.
I look at Larissa once again and felt my chest tightened.
Another star fall accompany by my raising heart and trembling body.
"This is not good"
I could only mutter in disbelief.
Fortunately the woman with me is too engrossed watching that the struggle I am currently suffering with is left unnoticed.
We stood under the bright light of the stars as if every celestial bodies are giving blessings to those who watches them. After the shower ended I was relieved to see her expression much better than before.
"So? How was it?" I said in a teasing tone as if I was saying 'Told you so you will like it'
To my surprise she just smile at me.
This is bad
She is way more dangerous than I thought.
That face card can definitely cause a war.
The tension disappeared replace by a smile that captivate my entire being.
Afraid I would embarrassed myself I squeezed what little words I could get.
"Lets go back? Its getting late after all"
She replied with a nod seemingly replaying the scenes in her head.
I didn't inquire nor tease her elevated expression, I simply let her savor the moment engrave into her mind.
Moving in silence with smiles in our faces we both walk back into the village. The hill from where we came from soon disappeared allowing our presence to reach our destination.
"It seems we are here already"
"Wait already, but didn't we just..."
"Just what? You were walking in daze you probably didn't notice we already walk far, look we are here were we first met"
Larissa glance at her back and was utterly surprised to see that they we are back at the very same tree canopy where we left off.
"Off you go, you should go home"
I said knowing her mental state had improved.
Though instead of leaving she just stare at me.
Um....
Is she still in daze?
I wanted to speak to ask about her situation but instead I saw her face clear up and a smile bombarded my face once again.
"Its nothing I just wanted to thank you, sir Darius you gave me a wonderful gift"
She beam another breathtaking grin and yet again I felt my heart burning. My chest tightened and for some reason my senses are telling me to stay away from me.
This woman and me can't stay in one space.
I moved my eyes away not wanting to see her face, its too deadly that it drives me crazy!
"Rest I will return now" I said to her as I turn my back but before I could gone far her voice flow like clear water into my ears.
"Good night Darius"
Those words sealed my heart like sword and now all I could do is raise my hand and wave to her.
"Yeah good night"
I retire to my bed still remembering Larissa, but what concerns me were the reasons behind her unsettled heart.
"Well its not like I can ask"
Buried the questions deep within my mind and drifted off to sleep.
"Will I see her tomorrow?"
I wondered as my dreams took me into another imaginative land.
