A Small Trip To a New Contract Part 2

1325 Words
After finishing the call there was a sudden knock at the door, as far as I knew neither of us made any calls to the front desk which made both Lucifer and I to go on high alert. "I am guessing that's not our contractor picking us up" He whispered to me as I set my dials up, putting me in a higher state of awareness to be able to sense what's behind "No.... It's a woman... a short one... wait... this presence it's familiar" I said out loud as the door was knocked again, followed by a voice this time "Hey... I am not sure if I got the right room but... is God in this room? Its Arosa" The voice was just as I remembered and as far as I could tell it was no trick to get us to open the door, nor was there anyone behind her "You better make the right choice Gabriel, otherwise we will be running from mercenaries until we are picked up" He said as he crept out of the bed and stood next to it. The lights gently changed from that low red slowly back to the pink that made it a bit harder to see where I was going. Deep within my heart I felt an ache that she was ready to kill us both, and that the girl I believed to be good may simply be setting us up for a trap, however the feeling was taken away by my own heart telling me that she would not do such a thing. I reached over to the doorknob and gently opened the door to be met with the same girl I met at the venue just this time she did not have heavy amounts of makeup and a skimpy outfit, instead she was wearing a cute black shirt that fit her really well, black jeans, some combat boots and a jacket that fit a bit too big "Hey there, I was not expecting to see you here" I said a bit awkwardly unsure of what I could even say, but before I could explain anything she hugged me tightly and began to cry on my chest. I closed the door and slowly walked inside the room as she kept crying "I'll be on the balcony, you two have your alone time. I gotta check up on some things either way" Lucifer said as he walked out, he sounded more calm now and in a better mood meaning that everything was alright. I led her to the bed and started to gently stroke her hair and just attempt to comfort the crying girl as best as I could. "Hey there, what's the matter? Did work go bad?" I asked softly, skipping entirely over the fact she found me without any true trouble and as far as I could tell she was not here to cause any true trouble. It took her a second to calm down and wipe her tears away, she sniffed then looked up at me "Y-you… You gave me a lot of money… Too much to even begin with.. I don't deserve it, all I did was be a slut and eat your sandwich…" She said to me as I shook my head and showed a soft warm smile "You did more than that. You showed to a man who lost all faith in this entire universe that there are people who won't kill him on sight. That despite knowing so much about the universe there are still many surprises this life has to show me. And you Arosa, you were one of them" I said in a soft and caring tone, trying my best to keep her calm but my words seem to have overwhelmed her with emotion leading to a bigger crying session that I spent happily comforting her. "Remember our promise? I will make sure to visit you, just make sure to develop that ability and achieve something higher than that restaurant" I said to her as she sniffed and wiped her tears away "Just call it a w***e house it's okay" She said with a slight chuckle as she ended up hugging me tighter "No one ever believed in me… I was always the f**k up, I was told I would never mount to be anything yet here you are, barely know me and have such faith on me to pay for my entire career without hesitation" She said with a grateful tone, just like when she ate by my side earlier today. It made me have this warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach, making me forget that I was a wanted outlaw or that this entire situation in general "How can I even repay you for such a thing, God.. My God…" She asked as she started to calm down a lot more "Don't give up and give me your phone number so I can contact you?" She nodded quickly then looked around for anything to write her number in, I handed her my phone and she quickly typed it in and smiled as she handed it back to me "Here you go, it's all yours. I don't get any calls from anyone really so I will respond right away if not I may be sleeping" She giggled out with a smile "Don't worry I'll make sure to check in once in a while, just be aware that I may change numbers once in a while for safety purposes. If it's a new number I will text you "God was killed by a salad" we will change the code word every new number so you are kept safe alright?" She nodded slowly then looked at me with a smile, it was bright as day and as warm as how a blanket feels during an early morning in the fall "As far as I know no bounty hunters are around yet or have recognized me or my friend yet but I am gonna teleport you back to the Dinner. Walk home from there okay?" She nodded and gently placed a hand on my cheek. "Next visit, I promise I will be somewhere better and I will invite you to dinner." She said happily, looking at me with teary eyes yet smiling as wide as she could "Until then Arosa, be safe and take care" I said to her in a soft tender tone to hide behind the tears that were being made as the thought of not seeing her again for so long crept along my mind "You too, my God" She responded as her voice slowly faded away and she was no longer in the room. Lucifer walked back inside as she was teleported away, he had this somber look of a man that may have witnessed his past before his eyes "Are you sure that's a good idea Gabriel? She is a young girl with nothing to do with the celestials or bounty hunting. Bringing her closer to you will only lead to her demise." He said in a serious tone as he kept his gaze a bit low. It was as if he was speaking about himself rather than to me "Look all I am gonna say is to watch your step Gabriel. One wrong word or move and she may be dead." He said to me as he made his way to the opposite end of the bed, leaving room between us so we have our own side of the bed "I know, trust me I know. I will make sure to keep her safe, until then our main priority is to get that money. Lets get some rest, we have a new world in front of us tomorrow morning" I said softly as I laid down away from him, at the very edge of the bed and eventually fell asleep thinking about her, and nothing else.
