Arielle's POV
I stared at David while my brain did skips and jumps. The woman still didn't look at me. She looked like a ticking time bomb ready to explode.
"Dave, so all this while you were running around with another b***h and I had no idea about it?" Her nose reddened.
David remained mute like he'd suddenly forgotten how to talk. He just stared at the table like it held some secret answers I had no idea about. But no. I wouldn't take it from her. I wouldn't have her call me a b***h to my very face without David having anything to say and just sit there.
"Did I hear you properly? What the f**k did you just call me? You whore." I rose to my feet.
“I called you a b***h because that's what you are. You steal my man and still have the audacity to raise your voice at me” she hissed while placing both hands on her waist. "People like you are just so shameless We've been dating for six months, girl. Didn't you know that? Who do you think you are?"
I laughed so hard my throat almost hurt. Infact I just found her audacity very funny. I was crying at the same time. "What a load of crap. Do you even know me? David is my f*****g fiancé. We've been together for years and you just strut in here and cause a scene like you own the place."
I ran my hands through my hair, while she gaped at him confusedly. She was probably feeling like an i***t now. That was good.
"And you." I turned to David. "You're just going to sit there and let her talk trash? So all this while you were playing the devoted fiancé, deceiving me and my dad, but you've been in a six-month relationship with this…this uncultured thing?"
Heads whipped in our direction but I couldn't care less. They could stare all they want but I wasn't letting David or this woman from God knows where make a fool out of me.
"Arielle, calm down. People are staring. I'll explain, okay?" His voice dropped very low while he was pleading with his eyes for her to leave. He tried to place his hand on mine.
I swatted it off. "Don't touch me, you filthy…" I paused and looked at both of them. "You filthy people."
The lady said nothing. I wondered why she was suddenly quiet after ranting like a mad woman a few minutes ago. It could be she was shocked when she heard we'd been together for years. Her silence only fuelled my anger more.
I looked at David one last time. He still hadn't said a word in my defence. Not one word. His mouth opened slightly then closed again like a fish trying to breathe out of water. That was all I needed to see.
"Alright. I'm sick of this." I took my wine glass and emptied the contents on his face. He gasped out of shock and while he tried to look for something to wipe his face.
I grabbed my purse and the car keys from the table. After all, it was the Hunt Group company car. I stood up, pushed my chair back and took a step forward, then stopped.
"Don't ever come near me again. Do you hear me?" I said without looking at him. “And you b***h” I pointed at the lady. “Good luck with him. I hope both of you have a f****d up relationship. You can keep him. He's trash any way”
Then I walked straight out the door.
My feet barely touched the ground. They just carried me to the car in the parking lot and I got in. My ears were burning. My knuckles whitened around the steering wheel the moment I gripped it. The restaurant noise faded behind me and suddenly it was just me alone in the car with the silence pressing in from every side.
I sat there for a few seconds before I started the engine.
Six months. The whole time we were thinking about choosing rings and having dinners and he was doing this. The whole time my father was trusting him with the company, giving him more responsibility, treating him like a son and David was running around behind all of it like none of it meant anything. Like I meant nothing.
I pulled out of the parking lot.
The traffic wasn't doing any good. The road was completely congested, like someone had personally arranged it to make my evening worse. I kept honking but it didn't help. Didn't these f*****g drivers understand that I needed to get home and crash.
I needed to get into my room, lock the door and fall apart somewhere private where nobody could see me do it.
Fine. I took a bend toward another route.
The road was quieter here, a little lonely, but it didn't bother me. That was exactly what I needed. No horns, no noise, just empty road and the hum of the engine. I let out a slow breath and loosened my grip on the wheel slightly.
Then a black car pulled up directly in front of me and stopped.
"Hey." I rolled my window down. "Get off the road. Can't you see you're blocking the way?"
The car didn't budge. The driver didn't wind down the glass either. Although I couldn't see his face clearly, I could tell that he just sat there with the engine running, completely still.
My temper was already thin from the restaurant. I wasn't in the mood for this. He needs a piece of my mind right? He was getting it. I killed the engine, grabbed my keys and got out.
"Hello?" I walked up and tapped hard on the window. "I said move your car. Are you deaf?"
He still said nothing.
I tapped again, harder this time. "Hey I'm talking to you…"
The door swung open without warning and a hand shot out and grabbed me.
