Function

It was a quiet evening in the office as Sia sat in her chair watching the sun set,this was something that she truly loved doing despite her unbearable working schedule.

She wasn’t like other people,at 28 years old,she had accomplished so much that many people considered her a role model.She wasn’t the fun type to be around but she wasn’t bad either.

With so many people trying to take advantage of her,Sia learned from her young age that most people would be nice to you only because they were expecting something from you later on,from the friends that she thought she had to the relatives she thought genuinely loved her.

It was hard to take in as it all came at once,that was right after her parents died and left everything in her name,she had to stand up for herself at a very young age.

As she sat there,she didn’t notice that her assistant had come in,she had knocked but no answer came so she decided to enter anyways.

She stood there for a minute and saw that her boss was quite interested in watching the sun setting.

“Excuse me madam” Khloe,her assistant finally managed to gather the courage and spoke up.

As if pulled out of a deep pit Sia finally came to.She turned and looked at her assistant who had a small smile on her face,she seemed apologetic about disturbing her at that particular time.

“Yes?” She asked curtly.She didn’t want anyone seeing that side of her,it made her feel uncomfortable.

“Mr Evans has called saying that you need to attend the function with Mr Damian later in the night” she said without breathing too hard.

Khoe knew that her boss has never liked her fiancé because this is someone who was arranged to get married to her when the time comes.

He and Sia never got along,much less talk to each other in a way that most couples would.

They rarely met,it was like there was nothing between them and the only reason why Sia agreed to go through with the whole situation was because Damian had not shown any interest in her and he wasn’t after her money.

This way,she felt more secure and comfortable with the arrangement.He was someone who didn’t bother about her,never called her before,aloof,cold and quiet,just the way she wanted.

“Alright,thank you” she said turning back to continue to watch the sunset.

Two hours later,Sia and Khoe left the workplace,as usual Sia wanted to be there earlier than Damian so that she can hide away in peace.

When they arrived at home,it was very quiet and no one was around to welcome them because this is how it has been since her parents passed.

Her red long backless dress with a slit in front was already placed on the bed,a bag by the side as well as high heeled shoes.

Sia was what most people would call a beauty out of this world,she was so beautiful that most people thought that she had some job done.

She had long black hair reaching her waist,her skin so fair and smooth that one would only dream of touching it.Her height was average,deep blue eyes with pink full lips,although she rarely smiled but when she did,those dimples would appear just like magic.

“Let me take a shower,I will be very quick” she told her assistant who was standing next to her.

Khoe knew that was the cue for her to go and shower as well.She has long since been used to going to such functions with Sia.

“If only we could actually be friends” that has always been something that Khoe had thought about,Sia was a nice person only that she met wrong people so she thought almost every other person was just like that.

The two finished preparing at the same time,when Sia came down the stairs,Khoe was waiting,she couldn’t help herself from holding her breath.How could someone be this breathtaking?

Was being this pretty even legal?

It was time like these that made her question her sexuality.

They quickly got into the car and the driver drove off to the place of the function,as she wanted,Sia arrived when most guests hadn’t arrived yet.

It was like a fresh breeze blowing around that area,most people found it difficult to approach her so if by any chance they found her there,they usually would just nod their heads as a sign of greeting.

An hour into the function,she spotted her uncle who looked like he was kissing asses of some rich folks,it was always like that.

He didn’t seem to notice her and she was very grateful for that because damn,that man can talk.

She took a sip of her wine,eyes darting around until she felt intense eyes on her,she shivered a little,that was a feeling she wasn’t used to and she didn’t like it.

She got so uncomfortable that she couldn’t help but to turn around and find the person responsible.

The first thing she came in contact with were those grey eyes that looked like a hunter staring at his prey,his eyes never leaving her.she scanned his face only to see his mouth make a little curve,she could see him swallow hard.

Just from those little gestures,Sia felt like she had been stripped naked by him.She should have known that it was him,this was the experience that that she felt each time that they met.

“Creepy bastard” she mumbled as she gave him a curt smile.Turning her back to him,she could still feel that stare lingering in the air,her bare back felt hot.

Sia looked around to make sure that her uncle sees her so that he doesn’t accuse her of not showing up for the function,she found him talking to some young lady who looked like she had enough of him but couldn’t bring herself to leave.

She walked towards him,earning so many stares from people around her,even if you didn’t want to stare,you would.

She commanded the place,she had this aura about her that needed acknowledgment either way.When her uncle saw her,his smile grew even bigger.

“Ah my dear niece I didn’t know that you were already here,I have been looking for you and Damian but to no avail” he said trying to sound responsible.

“Yes I am and Damian is somewhere around here,I am sure that you will find him when you actually look for him” she retorted.

Her uncle couldn’t help but let out a smile sigh.

“You tell him to take you home,I know that you want to leave” the man continued,making Sia to mentally roll her eyes.She’s a grown woman who is very much capable of taking care of herself but leave it to her uncle to make decisions on her behalf.

“Of course I will let him know” obviously she wasn’t going to let him know.

“Sure,you go on then” he was about to resume his conversation with the lady but found that she had already left. Good riddance!.

As soon as Sia left the room,Khoe was by her side the two walked down the hallway.They didn’t move very far when footsteps began approaching them,she knew who it was but she didn’t want to acknowledge it.

“Creepy bastard” she said under her breath.

Khoe was the first to turn around and nodded her head to greet him,she bowed her head to Sia and moved away.

“Pick a date for the wedding” came his low hard voice.
