Emilia sat at the coffee shop, sipping her latte and updating her best friend, Sophia, on the latest developments.
"I can't believe how rude and strange my boss is," Emilia said, shaking her head. "He's always yelling and demanding things."
Sophia's eyes widened in concern. "That sounds awful. What's his name again?"
"Karkoth," Emilia replied, shuddering at the memory. "And it's not just him. The whole office is weird. There are strange noises and whispers in the vents."
Sophia's expression turned skeptical. "Whispers in the vents? That sounds crazy."
Emilia nodded emphatically. "I know it sounds crazy, but I swear it's true.
Emilia took a deep breath and revealed the final piece of the puzzle: "And then, I saw a strange figure lurking outside the office building."
Sophia burst out laughing, teasing her friend. "Oh my gosh, Emilia, you're killing me! A lurking figure? That only happens in movies!"
Emilia's expression remained serious. "Sophia, I'm not joking. I saw it. It was tall and gaunt, with eyes that seemed to bore into my soul."
Sophia's laughter slowly faded, replaced by a concerned expression. "Emilia, you're starting to scare me. Are you okay? You're not...seeing things, are you?"
Emilia shook her head emphatically. "I'm telling you, Sophia, I saw it. And it was real. I'm not imagining things."
Sophia's expression turned skeptical. "But...that's just not possible. You're not in a horror movie, Em."
Emilia's voice remained steady. "I know what I saw, Sophia. And I know it was real. I'm not making it up for attention or drama."
Sophia's expression softened, and she reached out to put a hand on Emilia's arm. "Okay, Em. I believe you. But maybe we should get you out of there, just in case?"
Emilia nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards her friend. "Yeah. Maybe that's a good idea."

Sophia's eyes narrowed. "So, what's going on with this job? Is it worth sticking around for?"
Emilia hesitated, weighing her options. "I don't know. The pay is good, but the atmosphere is so toxic. And now with this creepy figure lurking around...I don't know if it's worth it."
Sophia nodded emphatically. "Then quit! You don't need that stress in your life. We'll find you a new job, somewhere safe and sane."
Emilia smiled, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "You're right. I'll start looking for a new job tomorrow."
Sophia grinned. "That's the spirit! And in the meantime, let's get out of here and grab some dinner. My treat!"
Emilia laughed, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Sounds like a plan to me."
As they left the coffee shop, Emilia couldn't help but feel grateful for her friend's support. She knew she could always count on Sophia to be there for her, no matter what.
