The War He Started.

The fortress did not sleep after the first battle. Selene stood on the high stone balcony outside the Alphas’ chamber, the night wind pulling at her silver-white hair. Below, Nightfall warriors moved in disciplined lines, reinforcing gates, sharpening weapons, and posting double guards along every wall. The scent of blood and smoke still lingered from the southern border. Behind her, the door opened. All three Alphas stepped out at once. Kael came first, already dressed in black fighting leathers, frost-pale eyes scanning the dark treeline. Ronan followed, shirtless, scars catching the torchlight, a heavy blade strapped across his back. Darius leaned against the doorway, golden eyes fixed only on her, as if the coming war was secondary to the female standing in the moonlight. “You should be resting,” Ronan said, voice rough. Selene did not turn around. “I can feel him. Thorne. He’s not finished.” Kael moved to her right side, close enough that his arm brushed hers. “He will try again within two nights. His pride will not allow him to wait longer.” Darius stepped in on her left, fingers trailing lightly down her spine. “Then we make sure he regrets every step he takes toward our walls.” Their combined presence wrapped around her like a living shield. Even with war pressing in, the three of them still competed for the smallest reactions from her. Ronan’s hand settled on her waist. Kael’s fingers found the back of her neck. Darius leaned in and pressed a slow kiss just below her ear. Three different touches. Three different claims. All at the same time. Selene’s breath caught. The simple fact that she could pull their focus so completely, even now, sent heat curling low in her stomach. A horn sounded from the eastern watchtower—short, sharp, urgent. Kael’s head snapped toward the sound. “Scouts.” They moved together. In the main hall, a wounded Nightfall scout knelt on one knee, blood running down his arm. “Alpha Kael. Thorne has joined with Ironfang Pack. Alpha Vex brought two hundred extra fighters. They are moving under cover of the northern ridge. They plan to hit the fortress from two sides at dawn.” Silence fell hard. Ronan’s growl was immediate. “Vex has been waiting for a chance like this.” Darius’s smile turned cold. “Then we give him a body count he will never forget.” Kael looked at Selene. “You stay inside the inner walls this time.” She met his eyes. “No. Last time I fought beside you. I will do it again.” The three Alphas exchanged a long glance. Something passed between them—reluctant agreement mixed with fierce pride. Ronan stepped in first, cupped her face, and kissed her hard and deep, uncaring of the warriors watching. When he pulled back, his voice was low. “You stay between us. Always.” Kael took her next, the kiss colder, more controlled, but just as claiming. “If you shift, you stay on my left flank.” Darius waited until last. He kissed her slowly, thoroughly, one hand sliding down to grip her hip in open possession. “And when this is over,” he murmured against her mouth, “we are locking that door again for a very long time.” The hall was full of watching eyes. Every warrior present saw exactly who she belonged to—and how completely the three Alphas refused to hide it. Preparations moved fast after that. Selene changed into light fighting leathers the pack provided. The three Alphas helped her dress again, and once more the simple act became a quiet contest. Ronan tightened the straps across her chest with deliberate care. Kael checked every blade sheath himself. Darius knelt to secure her boots and let his hands linger on her calves longer than needed. By the time she was ready, her pulse was racing for reasons that had nothing to do with the coming fight. Dawn approached too quickly. From the highest wall, Selene saw them coming—Moonridge and Ironfang wolves moving through the trees like a dark tide. Thorne’s brown form was clear at the front of one force. A larger, black-furred Alpha—Vex—led the second. Kael’s voice was calm. “Positions.” The battle that followed was twice as brutal as the first. Nightfall met the combined assault with savage precision. Selene stayed between her three Alphas exactly as ordered, silver-white wolf flashing as she fought. Every time an enemy broke through, one of the three was already there. Every time she took a risk, she felt their attention snap to her instantly—protective, possessive, and fiercely proud. Mid-battle, Thorne locked eyes with her across the chaos. His howl was pure rage and longing. He lunged toward her with everything he had. He never reached her. Ronan intercepted him in a violent clash of teeth and claws. Kael and Darius closed ranks around Selene, killing anything that came close. The message was wordless and absolute: she was no longer his to touch. The combined enemy force finally broke when Alpha Vex took a deep wound from Kael and ordered retreat. Thorne was dragged away by his remaining wolves, bloodied and furious, still howling her name. When the last of the attackers vanished into the trees, the fortress walls were slick with blood, but they still stood. Selene shifted back, chest heaving, standing in the center of her three Alphas. Their hands found her immediately—checking her for injuries, wiping blood from her face, pulling her against them in open view of the entire pack. Ronan’s voice was rough with leftover battle fury and something hotter. “You’re bleeding.” “It’s not mine,” she answered. Darius’s golden eyes dragged over her slowly. “Even covered in someone else’s blood, you’re still the only thing I want to look at.” Kael’s fingers tilted her chin up. “The war is only going to get worse. Thorne and Vex will not accept this second defeat.” Selene held his gaze. “Then we make them regret ever starting it.” Around them, the surviving Nightfall warriors watched their three Alphas and the silver-haired female who stood unbroken in the middle of them. The scent of claim was stronger than the scent of blood. They returned to the inner fortress together. The door to the Alphas’ chamber locked once more. And the competition for her attention—never truly paused—began again the moment they were alone. The moment the heavy door locked behind them, the three Alphas turned on her like the battle outside had only been a warm-up. Ronan reached her first. He backed her against the wall, mouth crashing onto hers in a kiss that tasted of blood, adrenaline, and raw need. His hands were already working the straps of her fighting leathers, pulling them open with impatient strength. Kael stepped in on her right, cold fingers sliding under the fabric to cup her breast, thumb circling the n****e until it tightened. Darius dropped to his knees in front of her, dragging the remaining leather down her legs and pressing his mouth to the soft skin of her lower stomach. They did not speak at first. They simply took. Selene’s head fell back against the stone. Three pairs of hands. Three different intensities. Ronan’s kiss was fierce and claiming. Kael’s touch was precise and relentless. Darius’s mouth moved lower, parting her thighs and dragging his tongue through her already wet folds in one slow, deliberate stroke. The contrast made her moan into Ronan’s mouth. They moved her to the bed without breaking contact. Ronan lay back and pulled her over him, guiding her down onto his thick length in one smooth thrust. The sudden fullness dragged a broken sound from her throat. Kael knelt beside them, fist in her hair, turning her face so he could kiss her while she rode. Darius stayed behind her, chest to her back, one hand reaching around to rub tight circles over her c**t in perfect time with Ronan’s upward thrusts. The competition never stopped. Every time Ronan made her gasp, Kael kissed her harder. Every time Kael pulled a softer sound from her, Darius pressed closer and stroked faster. They watched each other as much as they watched her, each one determined to be the reason she shattered. Selene came hard on Ronan’s c**k, crying out as the climax ripped through her. Ronan followed seconds later with a deep, guttural groan, holding her down through every pulse. Before she could catch her breath, Kael lifted her off him and settled her onto his own lap facing him. He slid inside her in one controlled thrust, eyes locked on hers, and began moving with slow, deep strokes that forced her to feel every inch. Darius moved to her side this time, guiding her hand to his c**k while he leaned in and sucked one n****e into his mouth. Ronan stretched out beside them, already recovering, fingers trailing over her back and down to where she and Kael were joined, gathering wetness and spreading it over her c**t. She came again under the combined attention, trembling, her free hand gripping Kael’s shoulder hard enough to leave marks. Kael’s control broke a moment later. He buried himself deep and finished with a low, possessive snarl against her neck. Darius did not wait. He pulled her onto her hands and knees, gripped her hips, and thrust into her from behind in one powerful stroke. The new angle dragged another cry from her lips. Kael and Ronan immediately closed in on either side of her. One kissed her open mouth. The other reached beneath her to stroke her c**t without mercy. Three bodies. Three sources of heat. One unbroken stream of focus centered entirely on making her fall apart again. She did. The third climax left her arms shaking. Darius followed with a rough curse, hips stuttering as he emptied into her. They collapsed together in a tangle of limbs and heavy breathing, Selene in the center, thoroughly claimed and marked all over again. For a long time the only sound was their breathing and the distant noise of the fortress still preparing for the next attack. Kael’s fingers traced the old rejection mark on her shoulder—already fading beneath the newer, stronger claims. “Thorne will come again. Stronger next time.” Ronan’s arm tightened around her waist. “Let him. He’ll die the same way.” Darius pressed a slow kiss to the back of her neck. “And every time he tries, we’ll bring you back here and remind you exactly who you belong to.” Selene closed her eyes, body warm and heavy between them. The war outside was growing. The enemies were multiplying. But here, in the center of three ruthless Alphas who could not stop competing for her even after battle, she had never felt more powerful—or more wanted.
