"My lord I have confirmed what the villagers said to be true" Sir Derek informed.
"I had hoped not" The king frowned.
"Take some of the best men we have with you and deal with the issue as quickly as possible before words reach the ears of our enemies" the king ordered.
"Yes my lord" sir Derek bowed.
"That is if you're considering me going with them?" I asked with a cheerful smile.
"Adeline no, I cannot grant you this" he warned.
"But father….
"Theu are mystical Beasts Adeline!, we barely know anything about them and how they should be killed. I will not send you on a suicide mission" he seethed.
"I refuse to remain here and do nothing" I scoffed.
"Adeline.no" he warned.
"You asked sir Derek to take his best me ans I'm more that…"
"Adeline this issue is closed you shall not be going it's too dangerous I.will not let it" he warned.
"Okay father " I smiled bowing a little before leaving the room.
From the window in my room, I watched as the men trooped out getting ready to head to the mountains.
They had even brought young Oliver. He was but a child that needed more training bit considering the dire need of the situation I understood while sir Henrik would dispatch him.
I clenched my fists hard, father expects me to sit here looking pretty while my men are sent on a suicide mission not long after returning from war.
I left the window going to open the door in my room to find four guards standing in front of me.
"What seems to be the issue?" I asked.
"Forgive us my lady, but the king ordered us to follow you wherever you may go to ensure you do not run off to the mountains" they informed and I frowned
Father was taking more precautions than usual.
"Very well, I am going to see my mother" I said ahd they nodded following behind me as I walked towards mother's chambers.
I placed my hand on the door knocking on it twice.
"Who is it?" She asked.
"Mother, Adeline" I replied and I heard footsteps before she opened the door.
"Adeline" she smiled and them looked at the guards around me, not questioning she allowed me enter closing the door and led me into the room.
"I cannot recall the last time you willingly came to my room to dre me" she said with a sad smile.
"Mother….
"I apologise I shouldn't only come to you when I'm desperate, I promise to do better" I said.
"Thank you Adeline, but I must ask why you're here?" She smiled and I sighed.
"The knights have been sent to the mountains to slay mystical beasts and father has denied me my leaving" I informed.
"With good reason so, Adeline you know how dangerous these creatures are, we barely know anything about them and they seem to appear from nowhere. I'm sorry Adeline I cannot help you this time" she frowned.
"Mother…
"You are our only beloved child Adeline and you are stubborn but I plead with you do not do this and break I and your father's heart" she said with tears in our eyes.
"Yes you are a grown woman and cam make decisions for yourself but Adeline sit this one out I beg you" she wept and I gave a small smile and grabbed her hands squeezing gently.
"Mother I love you and I love father" I smiled kissing her cheeks before standing to leave.
"I shall see you later mother" I smiled before leaving her room and my guards escorted me back.
As we walked back to my room, I took a sharp turn running and they took after me.
"My lady!" One called and I turned to the next walkway hiding behind a pillar once they had successfully passed the pillar, I emerged striking each on the neck pushing at the ones who struggled to strike they're neck and I sighed looking at their unconscious bodies before me.
Taking a secret route I was all too used to, I appeared outside the castle and hurried to the horse shed.
There wasn't a soul present because most of the horses had been taken.
I smiled as I saw Clydesdale my black horse.
"You waited for me Clyde?" I smiled petting him and releasing his leg from its hold climbing unto his back.
He nighed softly and I laughed.
"Good boy always ready for an adventure" I smiled.
"Let's go!" I cheered tapping him softly and Clydesdale jumped out of the shed galloping down the fields.
If there was anything I liked about Clyde it was everything but his speed still baffled me till this day I shook with force laughing as Clyde galloped with big strides and large speed.
"That's my boy" I cheered and he nighed tossing his black mane around jumping over the lower gate at the back of the castle and like that we were out.
We headed towards the forest through the route I was sure the other knights had taken.
….
With Clyde's speed we had entered deep into the forest already when I noticed something strange and tapped Clyde to stop.
The distance we were in, we ought to have caught up with the knights but strangely we hadn't come across anybody.
I heard crackling of leaves and my eyes followed the sound holding a dagger in my hand, I jumped down from Clyde whispering to him everything was okay.
I tiptoed to the direction the sound was coming from and found someone hiding behind a tree.
I smiled when I found our kingdom's crest on his shoulders but still pulled him by the.neck strangling him while pressing the tip of my blade to his chest.
"My my the princess is here, not that I don't mind being held by you like this but I believe we have other pressing matters" He said and I released him pushing him forward.
Sir Henrik turned to face me smiling.
"Tight grip princess" he cheered and I rolled my eyes.
"Why didn't you wait for me?" I asked.
"We did but as always Princesses like taking their sweet time" Sir Henrik mocked and I raised my dagger to him causing him to shuffle back.
He whispered a hum something we used in battle to led our other comrades know the supposed enemy was one of us or to inform that they were the ones nearby.
All the knights trooped out from different corners where they had been hiding.
"Princess" Sir Derek called and I smiled at him.
"As happy as I am to see you here, I'm afraid I must send you back" he said and I frowned.
"I don't take orders from you Sir Derek" I spat.
"Of course you don't but the king would have my head if he knows you're here whether you came on your own free will or not" he warned.
"Father is too paranoid and I'm not going back" I warned.
"Princess…
"Adeline!" I seethed.
"I understand your concern for your head sir Derek but nothing you do will make me turn back and frankly I'm not ready to end my mission before starting it, if anything should happen to me let my father know I made you swear an oath not to defile me" I stated frowning and he sighed.
"It is impossible to win one against you" he sighed and I cheered and so did Sir Henrik.
"We have wasted too much time shall we proceed?" Sir Raymond declared.
I climbed unto Clyde and we followed the troops to the mountains.
