I guess it's a good thing I don't sleep much. Jax and I drove to my next mark's home.
I was supposed to take him alive. That was not new for me but it was rare. I was a hitman, I was an ASSASIN. I was born and trained for this.
"So, what's the plan?" Jax asked.
"Go right in and grab him," I smiled.
"Your not serious," Jax said seriously. I didn't answer him, I just gave him a look. "I'm serious, what's the plan." I walked into the penthouse and headed to the elevators.
"You'll see," I winked. Jax was carrying the duffel bag I had in my backseat. I began to take off my shirt.
"Damn,"
"You've seen me in my underwear before,"
"Yeah but still, DAMN!" Jax said.
"Hand me the towel in the bag," I told him. I continued getting undressed and I could feel Jax's eyes on me.
"FOCUS," I shouted.
"OH I AM," he raised his eyebrow and smirked.
"Stay out here, you'll know when to come in," I said to him. I approached Louis's door and knocked.
"WHAT!" I heard from the other side of the door.
"I'm so sorry but my f*****g asshole of a brother left and I was just trying to go after him when I got locked out," the door slowly opened and his eyes immediately fell on my chest tightly wrapped in a small towel.
"Can I borrow a phone or just stay here until he gets back," I said as I gave him a pleading almost begging face. "I tried my other neighbor but no one answered. I mean I guess I can just sit outside the door or ask the front desk."
"No, it's okay, come in," Louis said.
"Oh my, thank you so much, I really owe you one," I smiled. Louis let me in and escorted me into his living room.
"I haven't seen you around here,"
"My stupid brother let me stay with him for my birthday weekend," I told him. "I'm turning 21!!" I said too excitedly.
"Oh, let's celebrate," Louis said. I knew he would take the bait. He went over to his bar and grabbed two glasses.
"I haven't even had a drink yet," I giggled.
"Well, I'm glad I could be your first," he said. I wanted to roll my eyes but I held it back. He walked over with the glasses in his hand and a creepy smile on his face. He sat next to me and handed me the drink.
"CHEERS!"
"Cheers," I replied. "Wow, you have such a nice place."
"Thank you," he leaned in a little closer.
"Um, I really hope you know I really appreciate this, and I would do anything to repay you," Louis laughed almost maniacally.
"Well, how about you and I have some fun while you wait," he said.
"Fun?" I questioned. "What kind of fun." He began to put his fingers in between the towel and my chest.
"Well, let's loosen this up a bit," he wanted to get closer and kiss my neck. So I took the opportunity to pull him by his hair and then I headbutted him.
"b***h!"
"And here I thought you liked it rough," I said. Jax must have heard the shouting and came in with a gun in his hand.
"Can I join the party," he said.
"WHO THE f**k ARE YOU TWO," Louis said.
"Your worst nightmare," Jax replied. I rolled my eyes and went over to the kitchen. I grabbed a chair and told Louis to sit.
"You guys going to kill me," he asked.
"No, whoever hired me wants you alive,"
"Hired you?" Louis pondered. I grabbed my phone and asked for a location. I usually get a reply fast but I didn't. I went to go sit on the couch and crossed my legs.
"WHAT?" I asked Louis who was looking at me intently.
"I have to admit you had me fooled,"
"I know," I said bluntly. "You look like you get easily fooled." Jax laughed.
"So, now what?" Louis asked. I then got a message on my phone.
Client: Unknown
Target: Louis Ventura
Kill
"What is it?" Jax asked me. My eyes grew wider. Someone else was placing a hit on Louis and they were willing to pay double what the other client was offering for him to be captured. It was no choice, I knew what I was going to do.
"Kill him," I said to Jax. Jax didn't hesitate. Louis sounded like he was going to say wait but he took a bullet right between the eyes so he didn't get to finish his last words.
"That was strange, wasn't it?" Jax said.
"Yeah, help me look for more information on this creep," I said. We made it to what looked like Louis's office. He had several shady businesses. He knew a lot of underground players but the one that stuck out was the Moretti family. How close were they? I don't know but this didn't look right.
"Someone is really trying to send a message to the Moretti family," Jax noted.
"Yeah, and we are getting caught up in the middle," I said. We were known and unknown to many. Assasin's in general take a neutral stance on mafia and gang wars. We just do our job and everyone respects that. As for me, well they don't and won't know the full story about me and my team but if they did they would never dare to come for me. I was too powerful to touch but again not everyone knew that. I didn't want everyone to know that. I was fine just being a lonely assassin but this situation was starting to get more dangerous than I would want it to be. I don't want to be involved in a mafia war.
I grabbed my phone.
"I need a cleanup," I gave them the address and told them to use extra precaution.
"I think it's time we find out who this unknown client is," I said. I headed back to my prison and decided to take some time off. I needed answers and fast before I headed back out on a job.
