Zev and his brothers, Orion and Jarl, were lounging in their special room at school, surrounded by a few of their close friends—Marcus, Karl, Cody, and Derek. They were in the middle of planning a party, throwing around ideas and laughing about the wild antics that would ensue.
Cody, however, seemed distracted. He sat quietly, his mind drifting back to Thalia and how she looked earlier with the goo covering her hair. He chuckled to himself, unable to shake the image.
Zev noticed and stopped talking, turning his attention to Cody. “What’s so funny, Cody?” Zev asked, his eyes narrowing. His tone carried a warning edge, demanding an answer.
Cody looked up, wiping the smirk off his face. “Nothing,” he muttered, avoiding Zev’s gaze. “Just thinking about something stupid.”
