Thalia’s excitement completely vanished, replaced by a mix of frustration and disappointment as she glanced at the pile of clothes scattered across the bed. She had genuinely thought, for just a moment, that Zev might have been about to act on the strange connection between them—but no. He was more concerned about the laundry than her. “Seriously?” she muttered, unable to hide her irritation as her hands dropped to her sides. She pulled her wrist out of Zev’s grip, trying to shake off the lingering touch of his hand, even though her skin still tingled from where he had held her. Zev simply crossed his arms, his smirk deepening as he watched her with those piercing green eyes. “Yeah, seriously,” he said, his voice dripping with amusement, as if her reaction was exactly what he expected.
