Chapter 66: search

CAITLYN’S POV:

Crap!

So now Sam is apparently Samuel? The prince of werewolves. When we find Alexis, she’s going to freak out.

We have now come up with a ‘divide and conquer’ type search for Alexis.

We go outside, and Dimitri is here. Why? Why is he here? He already lied and hurt Alexis. Why is he here?

We get to the same spot we told Sam about Alexis’ abduction. Everyone is spread out and on their toes.

The two royal families hate each other. And now their sons are about to talk… We aren’t sure what is going to happen. The mix of feelings and emotions from everyone is overwhelming.

“So? Now that we are out here in the middle of nowhere, are you going to tell me what is going on? Where is Alexis?” Dimitri asks, causing Sam to growl.

“Who are you? Why do you care where Alexis is?” Sam asks angrily.

“My name is Dimitri Viotto, and I am the prince of darkness. I am the heir to be Lord of the vampires. And who are you?” Dimitri asks sounding full of pride and interested in who Sam is.

Before anything else gets said, I jump in. “Dimitri, why are you here? You lied. You liked to Alexis and you hurt her. You are engaged. Why are you even here? Wasting everyone’s time!” I demand answers from him.

Sam charges at Dimitri but Gentri jumps in between. “No. This is not the time to fight. We don’t have time for this s**t!” Gentri says disgusted with them both.

They both back up.

“First off. I do not have a fiancé! That is what I was coming to her when I found out she left. I was NEVER engaged to Camilla. Her father and mine were discussing the possibility of an arranged marriage. My dad wants more power and control. The coven that Camilla’s parents rule are very wealthy, strong, and powerful. My dad thought it would be a good fit. But I refused. I cannot stand her! She’s a snobby, spoiled brat. I refused to marry her, which is an other reason I am still the prince and not the king yet.. It is written you shall take a bride before you can take the crown. I’ve been searching for a long time for someone like Alexis… Which you still have yet to tell me, where is she??” He went from annoyed, to happy when talking of Alexis, to being annoyed again.

I can see Sam getting mad as he talked about Alexis, he was pacing and Gentri was trying to keep him calm.

“We don’t know where she is. She was abducted earlier. It’s getting dark so we will probably start the search party back up in the morning..” I was explaining and he cut me off.

“Like hell we will. We will search for her now! The longer we wait, the farther they get with her. Do you have any leads at all?” He asks angry and upset.

“No.” My dad states

“Where was the last place she was seen?” He asks.

“Coming home from the store when she got a charger.” I state.

He starts to walk off.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” Sam yells at him.

“To find Alexis. I’m not going to stand around and wait for morning. I’m starting now!” He says not even stopping or looking back.

Sam runs up to him.

“I’m coming with you.” He says annoyed but on a mission.

Dimitri shrugs his shoulders and they walk off in silence.

“Dad. How about Maverick, Gentri, and I follow them, you go with the guards to where we had discussed earlier?” I suggest. We need to go to an other plan as it has already changed.

“Good idea. You better catch up to them. I would not leave them alone. Especially since they both like your sister, and their families hate each other..” He says gesturing for me to go now.

“Call me if you get any leads.” I say as the 3 of us run off to catch up to them.

They are still walking in silence. This is going to be so awkward.

We make it to the store, in silence. As we start the walk back to the house Dimitri notices something.. What is it?? He turns right and heads to the forest by the church..

This is where I had the strange feeling earlier.. Could he be sensing the same thing?

He is searching for something. What is he seeing or sensing that I’m not right now? I’m just getting creeped out! He then stops and starts looking around.

“What exactly are you looking for?” I ask.

“I can sense she was here. I’m not sure why. I also can’t tell how., but it is almost as she just vanished from this spot.” He tells me while not stopping his search.

I look at Sam who also looks like he is looking for something.

“He’s right. I can smell her scent, very faint, but it seems she was here… But there’s an other smell almost masking it.. it’s almost a musty or mildew smell..” he says sniffing.

At that moment Dimitri turns around and looks beyond pissed.

“Did you just say, musty or mildew smell??” He asks fuming.

“Yes? So?” Sam responds.

“I think I know who took her. Do you have access to the private jet?” He quickly asks walking back towards the street.

We all are chasing after him.

“Wait! What do you mean you know where she is? Why do we need a plane???” I ask.

“I think one of my guards took her. If I am right, she will be at my castle.” He starts walking again towards the house.

Sam runs up and grabs his arm halting Dimitri to a stop, but quickly lets go and looks at his hand.

“What in the f**k do you mean one of your guards took her? Why would they take her? They took her to a castle of vampires? That isn’t even safe! What if someone hurts her???” Sam was angry but his voice was full of worry.

“No one wouldn’t hurt her. I’m not sure why they’d take her. But that’s why we need to go, NOW!” Dimitri yells.

Sam nods his head and we keep walking.

We get to the house and Maverick runs inside and gets the keys.

We drive off to the jet and I call my dad. He doesn’t answer, but he could be asleep.

Once we get to the jet Maverick went up and talked to the pilot and we all get on. Sam and Dimitri both took seats at the front across from each other. Both looking out the window and not talking. I can feel the anger, worry, and jealousy rolling off both of them.. Mixed with an other feeling that I can’t decipher.. This is going to be an awkward flight. Also, I’m curious how this castle will look. Are we going to be safe going into a castle of vampires?

Will they have Alexis there? If they do, why wouldn’t Dimitri already know? Is he right they wouldn’t hurt her?

I really hope she’s ok. It’s all my fault she was taken in the first place... If I would have not taken a nap, all of this could have been avoided.

“None of this is your fault. Just remember like you always say, everything happens for a reason. We just don’t know the reason yet.” Lilly states trying to calm me down.

“Maybe, but I still feel responsible. I really hope she’s ok… I don’t know how I could live if something happened to her.” I respond.

At that moment Maverick came and sat down next to me, pulling me into his lap, and wrapping his arms around me.

“We’ll find her, and she will be ok!” He stated trying to reassume as he kissed the top of my head. At that moment, that’s all I could do. I needed to believe that. His embrace and scent comforted me, and soon I drifted to sleep.
