Chapter 24: shopping

After we park, Maverick turns around to face us.

“So the plan is the 2 of us will escort you two around. The other 2 will be a short distance behind us. That way it will look like the 4 of us are just teenagers out shopping. The other 2 will just look like they are friends out together shopping. We just want you girls to have fun, AND be safe. Ok?”

We both nod our heads, look at each other, and I could see she was just as anxious as I was.

Maverick and Gentri got out and open our doors. We start to walk in. Wow! I am blown away with how beautiful it is in here. When you walk in the food court is near the door. Around the tables are trees, there were little plants in the windowsill, and they had lights strung overhead above the tables. It’s so pretty.

“Pretty, right?” Gentri nudges me with a smile on his face.

I nod my head yes. He chuckles and gestures for us to continue. Caitlyn and Maverick were a little ahead of us. Waiting for us outside of the first store. We all went in and Caitlyn started grabbing stuff for us both to try on. Nothing in this store is my style, but nonetheless Caitlyn got clothes for us both to try on. I ended up liking the way one T-shirt looks. Caitlyn has about 6-7 things. I excuse myself and go stand in the hallway.

Gentri follows me out. “Couldn’t find anything you like?”

I shook my head no. “Just not really my style. Back home there was only ever one store I liked. Caitlyn has a wide variety of fashion sense. Especially if it’s pink.” I shrug.

“Well hopefully you can find a few things. We do also have a dance in a few months. You guys could always go look at the dresses? I have an idea on the next store. But we have to go up a floor. I feel you’d like a lot of stuff there.” He suggests. A dance? I haven’t gone to a school dance since 8th grade.

At that moment Caitlyn and Maverick walk out with the 2 bags.

“Ok where to next?!” Caitlyn asks all excitedly as she rushes off down the hall. I laugh. It was good to see her happy. Even if she was hobbling on crutches. Maverick hurried after her holding the bags from the first store.

The next 3 stores I didn’t get anything. Just nothing I liked. Well when we walked in the 3rd store I found this cute green adorable Shaw, but saw the price tag and left the store. How can someone charge that much for one item?

“Are you ok?” Gentri asks as he came out behind me.

“The prices in there are just too expensive.” I said.

“Your dad said price didn’t matter.” He asks seeming very confused.

“He may have said that, but I would feel guilty spending that much money on one item. I’d rather find something cheaper.” I said. He nodded as he understood what I meant.

“Hey, I’ll be right back. Not to worry, Derrick and Aaron are just down the way.” He said as he walks back into the store.

While he was gone and I was still waiting on Caitlyn I just sat there people watching. I suddenly felt someone watching me. But that’s probably just the two guards, since they are watching us. I shrugged it off. Something silver caught my eyes. Candy machines! I rushed over to see if they had my favorites. There were probably 30 different kinds of candy. All cost 50 cents. I walked around the candy and found my favorite, sprees! I dug in my purse and found 2 quarters and got out some sprees. I did my happy dance and was walking back over to my bench when the 3 of them walk out.

“Really Lex? Candy? It’s morning!” She said. It started as scolding and then turned into laughter. Soon I was laughing too. I just shrugged and ate my candy.

“We are going to get on the elevator down the hall. Gentri said there is a*****e upstairs that he thinks will have more clothes you like.” Caitlyn announces as she heads in the direction towards the elevator with Maverick. Who is now holding 3 bags. I looked over at Gentri who was holding a bag now too.

“Oh , did you see something that caught your eye?” I ask.

He smiles and says, “no actually I got this for you. I saw you looking at it until you saw the price tag. So many girls are just after my money, and guys just wanting to be my friend for my money too. So when you told me how you feel about spending money, I wanted to get this for you. I think it would like nice on you.” His smile grows and hands me the bag.

I looked inside and it was the green Shaw. “Thank you. You didn’t have to do that!” I say with a smile.

“Don’t even mention it!” He was still smiling as we caught up to Caitlyn and Maverick at the elevator. We got in and rode up to the second floor.

Gentri led the way. He leads us to a*****e and gestures for us to go in. It is beautiful. Dim lighting. The whole setup is just adorable. It has old fashioned street lamps for lights and decoration. There are plants and trees. The clothing is set up in such an organized fashion. I love it!

I instantly find a bunch of stuff I love! I want to try it all on. The dressing room is at the back of the store. There is a giant mirror in the main area of the dressing room. There are 4 private changing rooms, that lead out to the main area with the mirror. It is set up so beautifully. Caitlyn didn’t have as much to try on. I decide to try a few dresses that caught my attention. The first one is made of green cotton. It is a little low cut for my liking, but I still kind of love it. It has short sleeves, and a long flowy skirt that goes to my knees. I want to see how it looks. So I walk down to the mirror. It is pretty. I LOVE it. I go back and decide to try the dress I had chosen to possibly wear to the dance.. If I go. It is black and satin with green hues. It is also low cut, it is tight around the top, loose around the bottom, with a slit up the one leg. I love how it fits. But I think it might be a bit too revealing.. I am having fun and want to see how it looks. I walk down and was shocked at how good the dress looks on me. It compliments my body and the contrast against my skin tone actually looks really nice. I did a fully 360 to get the full image. I LOVE it! I really hope it’s not too much money…

I was mesmerized with how amazing the dress looks on me, that I wasn’t paying attention. Soon I was brought back down from fantasy when I hear a voice that sent chills down my spine.

“You look absolutely radiant in that dress. It looks like it was made for you.” He continues as he walks closer and begins to walk around me. Wearing his leather jacket and black jeans with black shoes. The way he smirked sent a wave of heat through my core. “The way it compliments every curve on your body. I will forever have this imagine imprinted in my memory. Absolutely stunning, little dove.” He whispers by my ear.

I stand there in shock. There is no denying my attraction to him. When I saw him at the mall back home, and when he saved me that same day. His face replays in my mind. And now here he is. Right in front of me, and we’re all alone. I’m feeling some sort of way, it feels wrong but also feels right..

Wait.. did he say, little dove??
