Chapter 41: Maverick’s POV

MAVERICK’s POV

They are officially joining the pack?!

Part of my worries have been that Caitlyn is not being a part of the pack..

“I told you that you needed to calm down. You worry too much.” Raoul stated.

Raoul is my wolf. We both kind of gave up on finding our mate 2 or 3 years ago.. So many find their mates right away. I am about to turn 24. Almost 6 years of searching.. I will never forget the day our Alpha had us go escort his daughters here.

Past:

Meghan and I had been called into our Alphas office. Did I do something wrong? Why am I in here? And why is Meghan here?

“Thank you both for joining me. Please sit.” He gestured for us to sit. “I know you both may be wondering why you are here. I am putting the two of you in charge of a very important and timely matter. My daughters’ just called me. Their mother is missing.. I need the two of you to fly out to a location. Use a rental car that I will arrange, and drive them here. I also do not want you stopping at any hotels. I’m not sure who abducted their mother, but I don’t want the girls in any danger.” He said putting it all out there.

I didn’t even know he had any children... Two daughters? Like children? Or how old? And we have to fly out there?

“Do you think the two of you can handle this? I chose you both for certain reasons. One being you are both extremely strong, fast, trustworthy, and professional among many other reasons.” He stated. Not going to lie, him complimenting me made me feel like I was made of gold.

We both nodded.

“Great! I will get it all arranged, you will need to leave in a few hours. Since the airfield is a few hours away, and the location you will land is about an hour from their house.” He said and handed us both a folder.

We left and started to get ready. I looked in the folder and it had 2 pictures. Both girls were pretty, but the older one stood out to me.

Arriving at the Shaw household:

As soon as I got out I could smell a beautiful aroma. What is that? As I got closer to the house I could smell it a little stronger. As I reached the door I felt like I was engulfed by the beautiful smell. Cherry.

Mmmm.

Where is this smell coming? I need to find out right now. Raoul is going crazy!

I knock on the door.

Nothing.

I knock again and the door opens. At the door is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. She looks like a model and an angel mixed into one being. The way the light is shinning off her beautiful golden hair… When I made eye contact with her, I felt like her blue eyes could see right through me. I had to quickly look away to remain professional.

Once we brought the luggage outside I needed to calm down. She might not be my mate. She appears human… The spell could have made her lose all chances at gaining a wolf… She could just have strong perfume on. I can’t change anything. Yes she smells heavenly and looks beautiful beyond words, but until she’s 18.. We won’t know for sure…

The entire drive drove me insane. I just wanted to hold her or even sit near her. I agreed with Raoul that I won’t say anything about the feelings and thoughts. But we will watch over her constantly, keeping her safe and protected.

Fast forward to the other day:

I was out running in wolf form trying to keep my mind clear. It wasn’t working. I needed to talk to Caitlyn. I am almost certain she is my mate. Her birthday is coming up. I am also worried that with her not being an actual member of our pack yet, that when she turns 18 someone might try to hurt her. Since she will technically be a rogue.

I stop. I can smell her, she’s here by the lake. All alone? Maybe I can talk to her now.

After I shift back I threw on my pants and jacket and walk up to where she was. No response. She must not see or sense me here.

“Caitlyn.” She turned and looked at me.

“We need to talk.” I finally had the courage to say.

Her eyes got big and began to fill with tears as she ran off. Even without her wolf she is fast. I want to chase her, but I know I shouldn’t..

“Chasing her might just scare her. We don’t want to scare or traumatize her. So we will wait.” Raoul stated.

Present time:

At the mall. I really want to talk with her, but at least this way I’m close to her. I don’t want to pressure anything. After the way I spooked her, I’m shocked she requested me to keep her safe. Although, that does make my wolf happy. And being near her makes us both feel better.

“So we are going to get our hair done. It could take an hour or longer.” Caitlyn states as she walks with Alexis inside the hair salon.

I feel so bad for Alexis. I can’t believe Kaylee would do such terrible things to her. Kaylee has always creeped me out, especially with how obsessed she is with Gentri. I am glad that she is ok, and that Kaylee is locked up. It did shock me that Alexis had such strength and understanding when she decided what to do with her. She definitely has the strength and compassion to be a great leader someday.

Gentri and I went in the salon and sat in the chairs in the waiting area.

Our phones kept going off with texts from Isabella. She is really going crazy planning this ceremony tomorrow. I looked up after the last text and saw the girls were done. I walk over and pay for it with the card Lucian gave me to use again. Caitlyn looks beautiful. She got a little cut off the ends and she changed it up with face framing bangs.

As we walk out I look at Caitlyn again and couldn’t help myself, “you look absolutely beautiful.” She blushes slightly and looks away.

“Thank you.” She responds shyly, still looking away.

Next they got their nails done. Caitlyn chose a pink she called “blush” and it was sparkly.

After their nails were done we went and they each chose 2 dresses. I couldn’t tell you what anyone else was doing, even if my life depended on it. The moment I saw Caitlyn in the one dress, I felt like my heart finally thawed. She looked absolutely beautiful. The dress was long sleeve with puffy sleeves, the bottom was long and has a little trail. She looked like an angel. I was speechless.

She then changed into an other dress. This one was silk and a darker shade of pink. It fit her body like it was made for her. She looked stunning.

She looked at me and smiled, making a desire rise up. I want her, I want her now!

I walked across the dressing room lobby until I was in front of her. I tilted her chin up to look at me.

“You are absolutely stunning.” I said before I kissed her.

The kiss felt like a fire erupted from inside of me. She was stunned at first but began kissing me back. She let out a soft moan allowing access to her mouth for my tongue. Soon I had a hand wrapped around her pulling her closer my other hand now behind her head.

I had to pull back. I could barely breathe. I swear I saw stars. We were both a panting mess, as she turned bright red and ran off to the dressing room.

I looked up and could see myself in the mirror. I don’t think I have ever seen myself smile this big before.

Now I pray I didn’t just mess up. If she gets her wolf and I’m not her mate, I will have to leave this pack. I haven’t been with anyone in years. I pray it’s not just a bunch of built up s****l tension.

I was hoping Raoul would chime in, but he has been silent since I made the move.. I’m not sure what he is doing.
