The Good Friends

Bella was packing for a week-long trip to California. Sara had invited them to one of her first performances in California. Well she invited Alex and he had invited Bella, who decided that Sara needed the support of the entire group and texted the group chat all the information needed. 

“You excited Bella?” Alex spoke through a mouth full of cucumber. 

“Of course I am. We haven’t seen Sara in a while, I wonder how she sounds playing with that band. Do you think she gets to sing lead?” Bella was beyond excited to see Sara for the first time in months. They had been close before Sara moved away and Bella hoped that time hadn’t made their friendship too different compared to how it was before.

“She said that she sings lead but, you know according to the media the lead singer of the band is an ass.” Sam’s voice echoed  out of the shared bathroom as she spoke. 

The three of them had decided to get an apartment together a few miles away from campus as a way to start ‘adulting’ as Bella likes to put it. The apartment was small at a thousand square feet and consisted of two small rooms. The girls decided to share a full sized bed in the larger room and to let Alex have the room with the larger windows.

“If she doesn’t sing lead, don't say anything okay. I heard Cali is rough on new artists. Just be supportive and tell her she did good even if she sounds like s**t,” Sam walked out the bathroom with her duffel bag stuffed to the brim. “Do you need help Bell?”

Bella looked up from the floor where she tried her hardest to shove another swimsuit into her large leather backpack. “I can't fit this in my bag. Can you put it yours?” She held out the two piece for Sam to take as she stood up off the floor.

“Of course. I could probably carry it in my pocket without anyone noticing.” 

“Can you two hurry or the hotel reservation is going to cancel before we get there.” Alex was standing in front of the open door, his luggage and a bag full of snacks on his arm.
