3. First Day Drama

1533 Words
Lia and I both woke up bright and early to get ready and find our first class of the day, Intro to Elemental Magic. We left a good 30 minutes early to get there on time. As we walked through campus, we realized we were completely lost. “Maybe it’s this way?” Lia said, pointing to the map we had. “That’s upside down!” I laughed at her and turned it. We only have 10 minutes until class started, so we decided to do the most freshman thing possible and ask someone for help. They ended up walking us to the class and told us good luck. We walked into the lecture hall with minutes to spare. We finally sat down, and my stomach dropped. “What’s wrong?” Lia asked as she shook me. I pointed down the lecture hall. “That’s my ex.” She looked around frantically and landed on him. He turned slightly to talk to the mystic next to him, and my stomach dropped as I caught a glimpse of his emerald green eyes and dark black hair. He’s pretty tall and skinny with some muscles. He’s also way too stupid for this school; his parents must have made a considerable donation to get him to go here. “He’s hot!” Lia said, and I slapped her arm. “He cheated on me with all of my friends last year. I haven’t talked to him in months. He shouldn’t even be here!” She quickly apologized, and the teacher, Alexander Hofmeister, started the lecture. He droned on about what we were doing in the class this year, and I couldn’t wait for it to be over so I can get away from Aaron before he sees me. I looked around the room to make sure I didn’t have any more surprises, and my eyes landed on the same man I ran into yesterday. He didn’t notice me staring at him as the girl he was with hung all over him. He was trying to ignore her while talking to someone else I didn’t recognize. Professor Hofmeister finally dismissed us, and it was time for my next class, Dragon Borne History. I couldn’t wait to take it because I've always been interested in the Dragon bornes, but I was too focused on other subjects to take the time to learn it. Once I realized I had an extra elective to fit in my schedule this year, I jumped at it. Lia and I were about to say goodbye when Aaron came over and introduced himself to her. “Uh, got to go, bye!” She said as she left before saying her name. She’s going to be a good friend, won’t even talk to my ex because of what he did. I didn’t bother giving him the time of day either. I bolted to my next class, which thankfully was in the same building so I didn’t have to go far. I made it to class with plenty of time to spare, so I sat in the first row. I started flipping through the book when I heard his voice next to me. “Well, hello again, my sweet flower,” I glared at Aaron, who started sitting next to me. “Leave me alone,” I said to him as I gathered my stuff to move. He grabbed my arm and held me tight. “Now, don’t be rude. We haven’t seen each other in so very long.” I ripped my hand out of his grip and grabbed my things. “That’s because I don’t want to see you. ease, just leave me alone.” I stood up with my stuff, but he grabbed me hard and pulled me back. “Don’t embarrass me!” He held on to me tight, but I wasn’t going to be his victim anymore. “Let go of me!” I yelled at him and pulled away. I sat down at another table when the gorgeous man sat down next to me, followed by his friend on my other side. There was no room for Aaron at the table, and I’ve never been more grateful to strangers than I am now. As soon as they sat down, I felt better. They both introduced themselves to me. The man I can’t get out of my thoughts is Daemon, and his friend is Cory. Cory has black hair that matches his ebony skin. His brown eyes watched me closely as I interacted with Daemon. He was also as muscular as Daemon, and I couldn’t be more thankful that they saved me from Aaron. We waited for the teacher to come in, and I could feel Aaron staring at us. I looked at him, and he glared back at the guys next to me and me. “Don’t worry about him,” Daemon said to me, and I immediately blushed when I looked into his eyes. “I’m sorry, he’s just an -” I tried to explain, but he cut me off. “Ass, yeah, I could see that.” I smiled at his joke, and he kept talking, “Tell me about yourself; I haven’t seen you on any of the school’s social channels. “The school has social channels?” I asked. I don’t have any social media accounts because I don’t have anything to use them on. “Mhmm, what’s your online name? I’ll add you to the pages.” He pulled out his brand new iPhone and waited for me to tell him my username. “I don’t have any social media pages.” I admitted, and he kept his phone out, “oh, then give me your number, and I’ll send you an invite that way.” He smiled wide at me, and I was getting lost in his eyes. “I actually don’t have a cell phone,” I said almost breathlessly; why did I feel like this? I pushed my hair out of my face and took a deep breath. He put his phone down and looked at me, “You don’t have to lie. But, point taken, I won’t ask you for it again.” “No, really!” I quickly said. I don’t want him to be upset with me. “I don’t have a phone. I’d give you my number if I did.” As soon as I said it, my face flushed. I can’t believe I said that to him. He smirked at me, and just like that, my panties were soaked. “I’ll have to take care of that,” He said to me, and before I could ask what he meant, the teacher walked into the room. “Hello class, I am Amir Dagher, and you may call me Amir.” He wrote his name on the board and continued, “Welcome to Dragon Borne History!” The teacher started talking about the class and what it would entail, and I couldn’t help but notice Daemon looking at me throughout most of the class. It’s going to be tricky focusing if I sit next to him every class. After about half an hour the teacher announced a project to us. “At the end of the year, there is going to be a project due, and the table you’re sitting at now is going to be your group.” My stomach dropped as I thought about how close I was to getting stuck with Aaron. The teacher gave us the rest of the class to discuss the project and get a project schedule. Our topic is on how dragon hunters found out about dragons. We have to write a massive paper with supporting documents. We also have to create a PowerPoint and video if we want extra credit. I immediately created an outline for the project and took out my calendar to set up a schedule to get it done. After jotting down notes and being satisfied with the outline, I presented it to them. “Can we meet tonight to start to go over the project and create deadlines? I can reserve a room in the library.” I jotted down a note to remind myself to go there after class when Daemon and Cory laughed. “Are you a nerd, little dove?” Daemon asked, and I flushed at his stupid nickname. “I care about school, yes,” I said as I flipped my long red hair off my shoulder. I turned and looked at Cory, “Can you meet tonight.” “We can meet tonight,” Daemon answered for him, “but it won’t be at the library. Come to our place after class.” The bell rang, signaling the end of class. They both stood up, but I stopped them, “What room are you in?” He smiled at me and held my hand, which sent sparks through my body. “I’ll find you and walk you after class.” He kissed the top of my hand, and once again, I was immediately turned on. I stood there for a few moments collecting myself before I met Lia for lunch.
