Chapter 11-2

996 Words

As the cab drove through the neighborhood toward the address Free had given her for the party, Sam tried to figure out exactly why she’d decided to go. He’d called and texted so many times over the last couple of days, but she didn’t answer because she had no words. Jess had come over to keep her company and feed her an endless supply of ice cream. Then she told Sam to get over it. As far as lies and betrayals go, Free’s were pretty minor. They didn’t feel minor to Sam, though. He was a corporate baboon in training. He planned to chase the dollar like so many other people. The cab pulled up in front of a two-flat in a quiet family neighborhood. She could picture Free living in a place like this, but he’d said it was his friends’ place. She paid the cab driver and stared at the building.
