14 The next morning, Day decided to get out of the house early and take his laptop to Cafe Ta Xromata to work there. The owner, a widowed lady with an adult daughter, had become very friendly and welcoming recently, realising that Day was fast becoming one of her regulars. Little slices of homemade cake would sometimes appear next to Day’s frappé, which was awkward because he disliked all forms of sweet food. If only Helen were here, he thought when this happened again; she could be relied on to help him out with cake. The solution occurred to him.
