Chapter Seven
Monday arrived.
Tommy had read about crossroads, defining moments, turning points: that one moment in your life that affects all that follows. Monday was her day. Tommy didn't notice anything, at first: The sun hauled up out of the ocean, like always, nothing new there. And it cast long dark shadows across the streets of Daytona. Who could have guessed that a crab salad could change her life?
Tommy had a good workout at Steve's and, not having enjoyed a breakfast, the swim in the ocean brought on an appetite that couldn't be ignored. What do I feel like, Tommy thought as she idly pushed toes into the beach sand. There was a sign in a restaurant window, she had spotted it yesterday: A crab salad with a glass of icy white wine: $4.95! Perfect!
