Chapter 6: Alive and kicking

Bobby " Care to explain to me what I just saw or should I say who, " I asked but he could not even look at me. The punk could not even do one thing right. I asked myself at times as you why I still keep him around. " I'm as shocked as you are Bob. I-I thought she was dead." Poor guy was sweating and he seemed a little pale but I couldn't care less. We have much more pressing matters at hand and some damage control to do. " You see now that's a problem. You shouldn't have thought she was dead, you should have seen her dead body with your own eyes and confirmed that she was dead. Now it turns out you did a crappy job and she's back!" I yelled banging my fists on the table. I hate incompetence and this failure takes the crown. " I'm sorry okay. I panicked! I'm not a murderer so it was hard for me to stay there and watch after shooting her" he replied and that just made my blood boil a hundred degrees. " I guess it's true that you should not send a boy to do a man's job. it's my fault for thinking your p***y ass could do this. I managed to kill without a sweat for the things I have today and you were too scared yet you loved living off her fortune. You are an imbecile that's what you are, you hear me!" " What do you want me to say? Yes, I failed at doing the job right but this affects us both. if she is here with a vendetta, I'm the one on the end of the line because I was the one who attempted to murder her, not to forget I just lost my position as COO! Give me a break, come on. I need to think," " Yeah, sure. Don't worry, you will have all the time in the world to think in jail." He looked at me in disbelief and I just scoffed. He is a stupid punk who is the sole cause of my ruination. How could he fail at doing this important and simple task? I should have known now it's come back to bite me. And those traitors who went behind my back. I will make sure to deal with them. They played a role in ensuring my defeat and bringing trouble to my doorstep. " Get out of here!" I said and he hurriedly went out without saying another word. I shipped the table and the contents went crashing down. " DANG IT!" I screamed. I thank the heavens that my office is soundproof or I would be causing a scene. I started pacing around the room unable to think straight at all. My mind was all over the place. I felt the air was getting thinner and I pulled the tie off my neck throwing it across the room. What in the hell is happening? I don't get it at all, nothing. Things were going so well now she's back, alive and kicking. This is totally unexpected. If she is alive, how did she survive and where was she all these years? I must say, she is smart, just like her mother. She knew if she made it known that she survived, I would have tried to come to finish the job. Smart move. " Jacob! This is your doing, isn't it? You saved her life from beyond so she can make my life a living hell," I scoffed in disbelief. I must be I'm going insane. " But don't worry. I'll be reuniting her with you very soon. You made a big mistake by not welcoming her to the other side. SC group is mine. It is my legacy and won't let her have it. Come what may!" I declared with determination. I am not going to let her have her way. She is just a little girl. I can handle her. ....................................................................... I sat at the club waiting for him to come. I hate this. I don't like how my life has been reduced to nothing. I am not in control as I should be. The place was crowded with rowdy drunkards and slutty women. Years ago I would have enjoyed this scene but I've changed a lot since then. Now I'm actually disgusted to be here. How ironic, I scoffed to myself. " Simpson! My man, what brings you here?" Valverde asked as he sat down. He was as always, in his signature white Armani suit with a gold chain and rings on each of his fingers. Don Emilio Valverde is an old bastard who got me hooked on drugs during my teenage years and got me involved in gang issues. That was when everything went south. Those were the times I was rebelling against the family. " I just wanted to talk," He looked at me in scrutiny before nodding his head. " I'm all ears," I waited for a minute before talking. " I'm experiencing some difficulties at the company that will hinder my business dealing with you," He arched an eyebrow at me. " What problem? I thought you had everything in order" " Yes, everything was in order, it's just that something unexpected cropped up and I'm afraid I'll have to watch my moves," I told him hoping he would understand. He took out a cigar and I pulled out a lighter for him. " So what are you saying and how does this have anything to do with me?" I looked at him in the eyes before talking. " The thing is I won't be able to clean your drug and gun trade money anymore. I'm under surveillance and if I continue it could complicate things for both of us," " Hmm," he hummed and puffed his cigar. " I hear you Simpson but what is your solution to this predicament? I licked my chapped lips and pinched the bridge of my nose. " Give me some time to handle things and then I'll let you know when I'm in the clear," I informed him. He sighed blowing his cigar breath in my face. Jesus Christ! Can't I even catch a break here? " You know I'm a man of limited patience, so don't let it run out. The sooner you can deal with your crap, the better," I nodded furtively.
