Chapter Eighteen: Home
Elara's POV
Dinner at Nightshade was unlike anything I'd ever experienced.
No one treated me like a servant.
No one expected me to stand in the corner.
Instead...
A place had been set beside Draven.
Luna Celeste smiled as I hesitated.
"Sit, sweetheart."
Sweetheart.
The simple word almost made me cry.
As the meal continued, warriors laughed and shared stories.
Even Alpha Magnus joked with his Beta.
It didn't feel like a kingdom.
It felt like a family.
Draven leaned closer.
"You've barely eaten."
I looked down.
"I keep waiting for someone to tell me I don't belong here."
His expression softened.
"They won't."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I know my pack."
He reached beneath the table and gently squeezed my hand.
"And because I know me."
The warmth of the mate bond spread through my chest.
Lunara purred happily.
"He keeps choosing us."
Vespera sighed dramatically.
"He's making it difficult not to like him."
I smiled despite myself.
Draven noticed.
"There it is again."
"What?"
"Your smile."
I rolled my eyes.
"You notice everything."
"When it comes to you..."
He smiled.
"I always will."
Across the table, Luna Celeste exchanged a knowing glance with Alpha Magnus.
Neither of them said a word.
But both of them were smiling.
