Angela ran at Alex, who just stood there, already regretting his afterlife decisions. She shouted, "Hey! What a coincidence again, huh? Did you miss me?"
Alex stepped aside, but Angela was unfazed. She came to a stop and stood by his side. She propped her elbows on the mailbox they were standing behind, saying to Alex, "I bet you I can guess why you came here."
"Did you cause this?" He questioned, looking ahead at the human.
"What? Why would you assume that?" She defended herself. "How would you know if that isn't just some runaway soul which a Demon forgot to collect?"
Angela shuffled closer to Alex, who shuffled away a little as well. She sighed, telling him, "Yeah, yeah, I know you don't trust me and all."
She stood straight then clapped loudly once. She pointed at Alex, saying, "But hey, look at the brighter side of things, hm? I'm here, and you're here, this works out, doesn't it? Hey, wanna go on a date after this whole situation? How about we go on a date now? Now's an amazing time to go on a date!"
She gestured to all the couples walking by. There was approximately one couple in the entire crowd. She continued, "If no one is a couple, that would make us stand out more, then we can become more lovey-dovey! What do you say? Up for it?"
"Now is not the time," Alex sighed, his eyes still locked on the undead.
"Okay, okay," She nodded. "We go get him first?"
Alex did not respond, instead, he tried stepping out of their hiding spot. Angela pulled him back, making Alex slightly frustrated. She told him, "Woah, we can't just go out like that!"
"What do you mean?"
Angela was grinning as she held Alex's hand. She casually interlocked their fingers as she told him, "That Undead can probably see us, so we need to really casually walk up to him and act like humans. When we get close enough, we zap him into the Judgement Hall."
"I refuse," Alex stated, trying to escape Angela's grip.
When he finally escaped, Angela asked him, "Then do you have a better idea?"
"We chase him down," Alex said simply. "That Undead will not be able to outrun us with his rotting legs."
"What if he runs away as his soul?"
Alex paused.
"Actually, how are we gonna collect the soul of a human that's technically still alive?" Angela wondered out loud. "It's not like we can just pull their soul out, can we? He has to die first, right? I mean, die again, right?"
Alex hated the fact that she made some sense.
"Then why did you let that soul run free?" Alex demanded.
"You wouldn't answer my calls!" Angela crossed her arms.
There was a pause as Alex tried to register what she was saying. He finally replied, "What calls?"
"Don't you ever check the mailbox in Hell?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "Every Demon there has one. It's really close to the Fields of Punishment. It's where all the instructions from the Judges come from and also where Angels can send letters down to Hell as a warning. How else would you know which souls to chase after?"
After seeing Alex's blank expression, she threw her hands up in the air. "I have written sixty-one letters!"
She took a deep breath before slinging an arm around Alex's shoulders. He slid under her arm and tried to gain distance away from her. She kept doing it until Alex gave up.
"When you get back to Hell, read the letters I sent you, okay?" She ordered.
Alex sighed and escaped her hold. He started walking towards the Undead, one of his two swords strapped to his waist. Angela followed him, joking around, "But seriously, you can send me some letters too! I mean, those letters would be ripped apart the moment the messengers find out it's from you, but it's worth a try, no?'
"How do you know about me?" Alex demanded.
They were walking along the sidewalk, mostly blending in with the crowd. Angela was smiling as she swung her arms. "Well, I asked around the place and none of the other Angels wanted to talk about the Fallen Angel, so I took matters into my own hands."
She had her hands on her hips proudly. "I went and stalked as many rampant souls as I could until I saw a face I didn't recognise from my time in Hell!"
She poked his cheek, to which Alex responded by swiping his hand at her hand. Angela leaned close to him, saying, "I genuinely thought you were a girl at first, but everyone in Heaven kept referring to you as male, so I made the connections myself. Good detective work, if I do say so myself."
"So you kept letting souls loose," Alex said.
"Yep!" Angela confirmed. "Just to see you."
"But every time I try to talk to you, you run away," Angela complained. "Why's that? Are you already in a relationship? Had a lover when you were still alive? Are you in love with someone from Heaven? Constantine? She's hot."
"Who's Constantine?" Alex asked, mildly confused.
Angela laughed, ignoring Alex and gesturing to herself. "When I tried to hit on her, she pushed me away so hard that I almost ended up back in Hell!"
She lightened her laughing a little to tell Alex, "Hey, you know Angels aren't actually all that good?"
"You're telling me," Alex grumbled.
"Nah, it's just that when I was alive, I thought Angels were these accepting creatures," Angela elaborated. "No matter who you were or what you did, they would accept you for who you are, that kind of thing. You could understand my excitement when I was informed that I was to rise to Heaven."
"You were informed?" Alex asked.
"Huh?"
Alex remained silent after that. Angela smirked, leaning so close that she was basically pushing him off the side of the road. "Don't tell me... They just threw you in Hell, no warning in advance?"
Angela laughed out loudly, so loud that the Undead they had been casually walking after turned around. Alex immediately tried making eye contact with the Undead, but Angela blocked his line of sight when she hugged his head from the side, blocking his eyes with her arm. She patted his head, "There, there, don't feel too bad about it."
