“You might be Harper right?” the young man who walked out of the lift quizzed Venessa.
“Venessa Harper” Venessa smiled.
“I have been actually waiting to meet you since days Venessa, finally it happened now” he smiled.
Looking at him talking to her with ease, Venessa raised a brow.
“Okay sorry, I am Graham Tucker, rings some bells?” he smiled folding hands.
“Ohh God, I can’t believe my eyes. You have changed a lot” Venessa smiled looking at the neighbor she grew playing with, in her childhood.
“A lot I must say. I am sorry Venessa, what had happened to you must have not happened” Graham sounded sorry.
“Please don’t shower pity on me, Mr.Tucker, I came past from it. It’s nice meeting you. Bye,” Venessa smiled releasing the brakes of a wheelchair.
“Where are you heading to Venessa? The event is about to start” Graham quizzed.
“Apparently the A-listers only welcomes the girls who can walk on their heels but not the ones who move on wheels” Venessa shrugged.
“That’s absurd. Dad was one of the members sending the invitations. We picked you only after considering the growth of your TROW Groups. You have every right to be here. Come,” Graham gripped the push handles and turned her wheelchair towards the door.
“No Mr.Tucker, I am not even interested” Venessa nodded in no.
“Then you should have stayed back, now that you made it upto here. I am not letting you go and come one call me Graham” he smiled pushing her wheelchair all the way.
“Welcome Mr. Graham Tucker,” the same girl who rejected Venessa’s entrance smiled welcoming Graham.
“Sir, I don’t think it will be good to take her inside. I confirmed with the ones inside and they were against her” she muttered not meeting Venessa’s eyes.
“What? Why did they even say that?” Graham quizzed.
“I have no idea Sir” she again averted her eyes.
“Then I will get an idea myself. You don’t worry, if they throw you out for letting me go inside contact me. I will offer something better” Venessa smiled moving her wheelchair.
“Open the doors, I have an invitation” Venessa informed the guards.
Graham eyes at them to open the doors and he walked pushing Venessa’s wheelchair.
People who were busy with themselves turned their heads towards Venessa.
Venessa felt a bit tensed when cameras started clicking pictures of her, she always stayed away from the press meets and official releases. Those are handled by Wyatt.
“Ms.Harper, why do you never make any appearance? Why do you stay away from media? Is it due to your insecurities or don’t you want to answer the questions? Are you scared of speaking the truth?” A journalist quizzed
“Venessa Harper, what do you say about the accusations of your family?” one more added and everyone looked at her.
“Excuse me, you are here to cover about the investors meet and the decisions helping to better the economy of the country we live in and not to dwell into personal affairs of people. It will be better if you stick to your respective work” Graham yelled at them making the media people disperse.
“I am sorry Venessa, they just get too much at times” Graham apologized.
“They can do anything for sensation” Venessa let out an ironic chuckle.
“Come let me introduce you to all” Graham smiled.
“Thank you Graham, but I will manage. It’s clearly mentioned solo meet for the CEOs who is ready to present their ideas and is looking forward to investing in the right place. I am willing to do that myself, thanks for your help” Venessa smiled at Graham and move her wheelchair towards the people who were looking at her.
While a few spoke to her in a normal way, a few clearly ignored her presence.
“Today is the night that happens once in a year which helps boost the economy, taking us on the path of profits. Everyone from the top wing is assembled in the place and we wish this year might reap us with more profits than earlier. The Government’s support will always be with the ideas that fuel economy. Looking forward to the final draft” the Government advisor smiled encouraging them.
Soon everyone assembled in the conference hall and sat around the table, taking their seats.
“I almost forgot you don’t need a seat, my bad” one of the members chuckled.
“Exactly, I do carry one with me” Venessa gave it back. Pressing on the skid guard Venessa extended the seat to the level of other chairs and applied brakes.
She stared at the eyes of people staring at her, a few with pity, a few with discomfort, and a few with arrogance. Venessa rubbed off her thoughts and started hearing out the ideas of people and the way they want to reap benefits.
“I would like to add something” Venessa noted.
“Later, there are still many who have to give out their ideas. You can do it at last” one of them replied.
“Why should I be the last? Why am I even invited here? Just to get your pity stares and arrogance? Why can’t I get to put out my decisions? If this assemble of so-called matured and ruling businessmen is happening for the benefit of the economy. I think transparency and equality should be the first things. Everyone has the right, so do I” Venessa stressed.
“Mind your tongue Harper, just because you yell that doesn’t make you any great. We all know how and why you are in this position. TROW Groups is not your hard work, the worse things you committed is making you pay back in this way. We don’t even understand who in the world is such a fool to invite just because you made it into A-listers. You are disgusting Harper” he yelled back at her and everyone supported him except Graham.
Venessa looked at Graham who is trying to stop everyone, he didn’t oppose them but he tried to cool the bursting people.
Releasing the brakes Venessa reversed her wheelchair and started moving.
“The one who doesn’t have the dare to face the truth has no right to be here” Venessa held back her tears, hearing the hurtful comments, and made an exit from the room.
Without informing Wyatt who is waiting for her, she exit the hotel and strolled on the pavement oblivious of the media following her.
