~OLIVIA~
I stare in horror as I watch Lucas slam himself continuously into… Charlotte! My body vibrates and the pain in my chest increases as I watch the two people I cherish and trust the most make love in my presence. They don’t stop even after sighting me until they both reach their release, while I stare at them like a fool, unable to turn away.
This has got to be a bad dream or something. Perhaps I had drank so much last night that I am now imagining things.
“Did you enjoy the show?” Lucas’ voice snaps me out of my trance and I turn to him, my tears blurring my vision.
“Lucas…. Why?” My voice is barely above a whisper as I alternate my gaze between Lucas and my supposed best friend, Charlotte. She has a satisfied look on her face as she pulls the sheets to cover her bare body.
“Oh don’t take that pity tone with me, Olivia. We both know you’re not as innocent as you try to make everyone believe.” Lucas says, his tone harsh and his expression a hard glare. This is the first time he has taken such a tone with me, and I’m caught off guard.
“Did you have fun last night, Liv? It was your birthday night after all.” I turn to Charlotte with a hard glare. How could she still talk to me as if all is well after what she just did.
“You have some nerves, Charlotte. I’ll hand it to you.” I say through gritted teeth, my pain being replaced by pure rage, and resentment.
“As you can see, we were in the middle of something blissful before your unwanted interruption, so do yourself a favor and leave if you have nothing more to say.” Lucas says this as he pulls Charlotte to himself and begins kissing her neck.
The audacity!
“What is the meaning of this, Lucas?” I ask as I raise the document up to his view.
“What is that?” He asks dryly.
“You took a loan using my identity. Why would you do that behind my back?!” I snap.
“You haven’t had a problem with giving me money before. Why start now?”
“Lucas Ray!” I yell, my eyes blazing in furry as I ball my fists tightly until my knuckles turn white.
“Oh for goodness sake! It’s just a few hundred dollars, and you owe me that much for cheating on me with some random man!” Lucas yells.
His words hit me hard and I stare at him in shock. How did he know?
“What, were you not planning on telling him?” Charlotte asks in a mocking tone and I turn to her, my eyes widen in shock as my memories of that night finally resurface.
“Come on, Liv. It’s your twenty-fifth birthday and your first with me since you returned from the states. Let’s go out and celebrate.”
“One drink won’t kill you, Liv. Come on.”
“Have some more, Liv. Live a little!”
“I prepared a special surprise for you, Liv. Let’s go.”
“Here, take this key card. Your surprise is waiting in the room.”
“Oh and Liv, make Lucas happy tonight.”
Charlotte’s voice comes ringing in my head as I remember how she had taken me to a club, gotten me drunk and then taken me to the hotel next. She had planned everything, and told me Lucas was waiting for me in the room!
“Charlotte, how could you?” I ask, my tears streaming down my face. I had tried not to let it fall but my heart ached so much that I couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“Oh please, cut it out, Olivia. It’s not like I had forced you to do anything. You could have said no but instead you agreed.” Charlotte responds without an ounce of remorse, and I couldn’t believe she was the same person I had called my best friend for ten years!
“Do whatever you want, Olivia. I officially want nothing to do with you.” Lucas says as he resumes kissing Charlotte’s neck and she shamelessly moans in my presence. They begin kissing each other furiously and I feel sick to my stomach.
It broke my heart knowing that I had cheated on Lucas, but I didn’t do it willingly. I was under the influence of the alcoholic drink Charlotte had made me consume, and she made me believe Lucas was the one in the room.
I willingly gave myself to that jerk because I thought he was Lucas! However, seeing how much of a scumbag Lucas turned out to be, I’m a bit glad it was that stranger I had slept with and not the likes of Lucas. But what difference does it make? They are both jerks!
I turn to walk away but pause. I can’t just leave like this. I can’t give them the satisfaction of knowing they hurt me.
My eyes scan the room and I walk towards the table, pick up the flower vase and march down towards the bed before they even realize what I was doing.
The room echoes with the sound of shattering glass as I smash the vase on Lucas’ head, making him lose consciousness immediately.
“Olivia! Have you gone mad?!” Charlotte exclaims, her expression masked with terror as she shakes Lucas in her attempt to wake him up.
“Oh you just wait, Charlotte Benson. I’ll show you just how mad I can get.” I respond with a tone of promise to deal with Charlotte later, and no, I didn’t kill Lucas. I can’t let myself get imprisoned over the likes of him. I have better things to waste my time on, however, I hit him in a way that would guarantee he spends at least a week or two in the hospital. Since he decided to use me to get such an amount of money, he might as well spend it on hospital bills.
I’m about to walk out of the room when I pause, turning my head to the side.
“Oh and Charlotte, tell Lucas he can find a new place to stay whenever he wakes up.” I shut the door after saying this, and I can hear Charlotte’s loud curses even with the closed door.
I take a cab back home and thankfully, mom isn’t home. She must have gone to stay with the neighbor, which is good because I don’t want her to see me like this. I walk into my bedroom, and drop to the floor immediately, my tough shield shattering to pieces as I cry my heart out.
I suddenly remember I’m still wearing the clothes from last night and I take them off immediately, making a mental note to burn them later. I dash into the bathroom and get under the shower, picking up my sponge and scrubbing my tender skin roughly. I didn’t care that I was bruising myself. I just wanted to rid myself of this shameful feeling.
No! I refuse to give in to defeat.
They will all pay for what they did to me. I’ll make sure of it!
