~XAVIER~
I slowly open my eyes, and the first sight that welcomes me is the view of a brunette woman sleeping peacefully in my arms.
I am confused at first as to how she got there. Did she somehow crawl up to me while I was asleep?
I scoff internally.
Was she not the one who made it very clear that I wasn't her type? And yet she shamefully forces herself on me in my slumber.
My first thought is to gently push her off but the look on her face stops me. She looks so peaceful and innocent, unlike the wild tigress she is, and I couldn't help but admire her beauty in that state.
Come to think of it, this is actually the first time a woman has slept in my bed and in my arms this way. It is usually just s*x and then we both ditch and it has never been done in my house.
“I guess you're the exception.” I chuckle softly as my gaze slowly travels to her lush lips, and memories of that night resurface.
I could remember how good she smelt that night that made me feel intoxicated, how good she tasted, the way she melted right into my arms, and the way I just couldn't get enough of her. It felt so different with her and up until this point, I couldn't understand why.
I couldn't understand why I could never get her off my mind after that. I also remembered how she ripped the check to shreds, and the pang of regret in her eyes when she saw me.
If she really had no intention of being there that night, if she wasn't part of my brother's scheme to bring me down, then how did she end up in the exact same room and at that exact moment?
“Olivia Denovan, what's your story?” I ask as I slowly bring my hand up to her face, attempting to brush her loose hair strands behind her ear but she suddenly stirred in her sleep and I quickly retract my hand and shut my eyes, not wanting her to know I was awake.
I hear her gasp and I realize she's also in shock, seeing our position.
Does this mean she didn't do it on purpose?
“Oh no, what was I thinking?” She asks in a frantic manner as she tries to pull away but I stylishly tighten my hold on her.
“Xavier you annoying piece of work. You owe me one for this.” She says in a slightly annoyed tone as she slowly frees herself from my hold and this time around, I let her go.
I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed at the cold and empty feeling that replaced her warm presence but I quickly brush it off.
I decided to get more sleep as I felt really rested that morning, and it's been ages since I had a good night's rest.
Did this have anything to do with Olivia?
No, I doubt it. Why would it?
I have no emotional attachments towards her and I never will. It's probably the weather as it was frozen cold outside.
Another thing I hated about the holiday seasons.
And so I shut my eyes for a while and by the time my alarm went off, it was late into the morning.
I force myself out of the bed and take a bath before going down to make breakfast. However, I was in for a bigger shock by the time I walked into the living room.
“And you should have seen him. He was all red and embarrassed but I told him it was alright to wet the bed, he was young after all and most kids did it.” My grandmother said as Olivia listened attentively and the duo kept giggling and laughing over a plate of cookies and glass of milk while grandma kept telling Olivia embarrassing stories of my childhood!
But that is the least of my problems at that moment as my gaze scrutinize my living room, or at least what used to be my living room.
I widen my eyes in shock on seeing the different Christmas light bulbs and green flowers on every corner of the house. Hanging mistletoes and heart shape Santa posts on the walls. And not to mention the giant Christmas tree that had been mounted at the corner, next to door, with different color light bulbs strapped around it, and different glowing decorations on it as well.
“What happened to my house?!” I exclaim in shock and that's when they finally notice my presence.
“Oh, Xavier sweetheart, join us.” Grandma makes a gesture with her hands at me but my gaze remain fixated on the bedazzled Christmas tree.
“I hope you don't mind. The place looked a bit plain so I thought I'd decorate a bit.” Olivia says with a smile and I glare at her.
“A bit? You call this a bit? You turned my house into a freaking Christmas store!” I snap but instantly regret that as grandma shot me a hard glare.
“You should be thankful for your fiance's thoughtfulness. Do you know how much work she put into all of this? And it's Christmas season after all, it's only right that you live in it!” She snaps and I press my lips into a thin line.
I notice the grin on Olivia's lips and I realize she did this on purpose to annoy me. Otherwise, why would she turn my living room into a forest in the name of decorating for Christmas?!
Actually the real question is how did she even get all this done in such a short amount of time? I was barely asleep for less than two hours?
I decided to just push my rage aside as the last thing I wanted was getting my grandmother upset.
“That is exactly why I was a bit upset, grandma. This must have stressed her out a lot and the last thing I want is my fiance getting all worked up and exhausted.” I say with a forced smile as I walk up to the table and reach out for a cookie but grandma slaps my hand off immediately.
“What did I do now?” I ask while rubbing my hand slightly.
“You wake up and the first thing you think about is food? You didn't even give sweet Olivia a proper recognition.” She says and I furrow my brows as I exchange glances with Olivia who seemed confused as well.
“Proper recognition? What do you mean?” I ask and she glared at me.
“You didn't give her a morning kiss.” Olivia chokes on her milk the moment the words left my grandmother's lips and I stare at my grandma in shock.
This woman will be the death of me.
