"Well perhaps," Xeon mumbled an incantation—words loaded with his own power. His final concealing ward clicked into place. "Completed."
His tattoo itched, releasing some of the magical power he'd accumulated there. Fire, air, and liquid witches could draw directly from their seats of power in the middle of their chests, while earth witches needed to prepare more. A charm had to be produced first unless he utilized his power to manipulate anything straight from the Earth, such as the earth or a tree.
Earth witches had to prepare their spells in advance, foresee the spells they would require, and then transfer the spell's pure energy to their bodies so they could access it later. Earth magic was the most adaptable of the four sources of power, but it also required the greatest forethought.
