I get the call from Patrick that Preston has permission from the Alpha King to use the portal to Màni. He’s seriously acting like a teenage girl when he found out the Luna Queen Morrigan would be escorting him to Eferhile because she wants to visit her family. Seriously, this grown-ass man squealed like a teenage girl finding out that she was going to a One Direction concert or something. Patrick sounded super weird on the phone though, speaking softer to me than he normally does and was actually sort of polite too. I’m not looking forward to taking Preston to the pack because my parents asked me to have lunch with them. We are taking some downtime with the investigation until Preston comes back with information for us.
Camilla, Artis, and Anders were just going to lounge at the hotel and be lazy, but I get to go have a super awkward lunch with my parents.
Tala? Do you want to go for a run?
She doesn’t answer. I haven’t felt her or talked to her since we went on our run with Orsa and Nala. She’s constantly whimpering in the back of my mind for our mate, for Tiernan. For Steele. I hate the fact that I don’t want my mate, and that it’s hurting her, but I just can’t accept it or him. I decide to go down to the hotel’s gym and just run on the treadmill instead of even trying to shift, which I know would be painful, because Tala doesn’t want to come forward. Running, or working out in general, seems to always put things into perspective and helps me to see things differently. Hopefully, this helps.
After a few hours of working out, my body feels heavy and I know that I pushed myself, Tala isn’t helping my stamina. It’s like I drank wolfsbane and she’s completely gone. I sigh, making my way up to my bedroom to shower.
I need to figure out what to do about this mate bond.
There’s nothing TO DO but accept the bond. I’m never going to forgive you if you reject our mates. I will make your shifts more painful than your first one and I will never help you again. You will be human, and I will ask the Moon Goddess to take me away from you.
Tala growls before lying back down and ignoring me. I know how badly she wants her mate, but I didn’t think she would go to extremes by calling on our Moon Goddess to remove her from me. I couldn’t have that. I loved Tala, she was my only friend when I desperately needed one, she’s been my constant companion. I grab my phone off the bedside table and open my contacts, pulling up my therapist’s contact information and sending her a text. I know I need more help than friends or family could give me right now.

“Mistress, how many more children do we need? The Human Realm is starting to catch on to what we are doing?” James asks.
“How many do we have now?” I ask, honestly forgetting how many children we have in our dungeons.
“We have, in total, 13 children. We have 3 human children, 5 shifter children, and 5 spell caster children.” He responds.
“Then we need no more. Are they all between the ages of 5 and 10?” I ask, this was the important piece.
“Yes, mistress, a mixture of boys and girls between the ages you specified.” He answers.
“Good, make sure they are fed and given water. I don’t need them dying before they can serve their purpose on the Blood Moon.”
James bows his head and leaves the room to return to the dungeons of the Underworld where the children are being kept. I get up from my throne and head over to the portholes of the throne room to survey the Underworld. Arawn has been growing too powerful, but in that power, he has become too benevolent to the Lost. His stupid Hounds of Annwn don’t help my cause either, putting me on “house arrest” because I wanted to send the souls of the Lost to be left in purgatory. It fed my hunger for souls and gave me more power than Arawn. He’s scared that I will overthrow him and lay claim to the Underworld. It has always been divided between the two of us. This is not something that one God or Goddess can do by themselves, he’s supposed to take care of the Pure and I’m supposed to take care of the Lost. He has overstepped his bounds by involving the Celestial Realm in our business.
These thirteen children are my answer to my problems, getting rid of Arawn and running the Underworld as I see fit with no interference. Once that happens, I can then move on to the Human Realm, claiming the souls of the Pure and the Lost for myself. What is the end goal, you may ask? The end goal is to take over the Celestial Realm, for banishing me to this place and for meddling in business that didn’t include them. I feel the need to stretch and grow, really come into my powers and that’s where these 13 children come in. Sacrificing 13 souls of the Innocent and Pure on the night of the Blood Moon will bring forth power hitherto unheard of. I will be able to lay waste to the Human and Lunar Realms before finally claiming the Celestial Realm for my own.
