Chapter 34

(Tiernan’s P.O.V) I was doing my best to prepare myself not to look at Siobhan once her scent started wafting into the room. I wasn’t going to look at her, she didn’t deserve my acknowledgment right now. But when I heard Patrick tell his dad that he would explain something to him later, I looked at Siobhan. She looked a mess. She wasn’t her normal put-together self, her hair wasn’t done like it normally is, it just hung limp around her face. It obstructed my view of her face but if her choice of clothing meant anything, her face wasn’t looking any better than my own. I spent a good portion of my morning in the gym, pushing myself to the point of vomiting. Once I recovered from that, I called a few of my warriors for a sparring match. I wasn’t on my A-game, so I ended up having my ass handed to me, which I was fine with. I welcomed the pain. I went back to ignoring her, calling our meeting to order, wanting to get out of this f*****g room and away from her and her scent. Steele was whimpering and whining in the back of my mind with our mate so close. We could feel her agony about the situation, and how much she was suffering emotionally because of what she had done. Anders calls the meeting to order, introducing us to High Priestess Winona, his beloved. I thank Winona for giving us her time before she launches into what she is prepared to give in regards to help. “I have plenty of spell casters that are willing to help in rescuing the children. Abigail Hanson and Julian Barter were the children taken from our coven. The other spell caster children are from our sister coven, the Coven of the Silver Thread. Their parents are going to be there along with the Hanson’s and the Barter’s.” “Do we know how your magic will work in Annwn?” I ask. “Well, we may not be demigods such as you and Alpha Marshall, but we have found in our readings that our magic will work, it just won’t be as potent. It will take more energy to create the magic that we so easily create here in the Human Realm.” “Artis, I’ve spoken with Alpha Brock of your sleuth, and he has offered some of his warriors to help.” My father states. Artis nods her head, a look of unease crossing her face. “Is there something wrong with that plan?” I ask. “No, Alpha Tiernan. There’s no problem.” She whispers. I know she’s lying, but I’m not going to push it because it’s not my business. “Do we know what sort of army Scàthach has?” Brian asks. “That’s the one thing that Arawn couldn’t give us an answer to. Scàthach has been able to block her palace in Annwn from the view of the Celestials. We won’t know what we are working with until we get there.” My father answers. “So, we’re flying blind then?” Drake, my Gamma, asks. “Pretty much. Though we must assume she has manipulated the souls of the Lost in some way, whether that be her creating demons or just giving them crude physical bodies.” Dad answers. “I will be bringing the spell casters from my coven and our sister coven here to the pack to help train with your warriors. When will Alpha Jordan’s warriors be here? I would like them to be part of the training.” Winona says. “They will be here the day after tomorrow,” My father says. Everyone nods and the meeting continues, but I can’t concentrate with Siobhan in the room. I’m not contributing much to the discussion, and neither is she, her head has been bowed the whole meeting. She’s hurting Tiernan, and so is Tala. Steele whimpers to me. And we aren’t? I snarl back to him. This isn’t some game to see whose pain is greater! She did something wrong, Tiernan and she knows that. Do you know that right now sitting in that chair, she feels no better than Wyatt? You remember him, right? The one who r***d her with the help of his friends? How do you know? I whisper in shock. Because I’ve been communicating with Tala. I want to growl at him and be angry with him, but Tala is his counterpart within Siobhan and their mate bond is separate from ours. But she’s not like him. She doesn’t see that; she sees that she took your choice from you without your permission. YOU were going to reject her. Instead of talking to her about what she said after everyone cooled down, you were going to reject her. Was what she said hurtful? Yes, it was. No Alpha likes having his capabilities and intelligence questioned. What you should have done was walked away and waited until you could be more rational. So, you’re saying this is my fault? It was my fault she marked us without consent. You really aren’t even bothering to listen to me. I’m done with this conversation…and with you. Steele walks off, then subsequently shuts off his connection to me. My father adjourns the meeting and Siobhan bolts out of the room like her ass was on fire. Not that I blame her, it’s been stifling sitting here in the same room as her. I wanted to go after her and talk to her about everything, but I was still so…confused. Now that my anger has ebbed, I’m just feeling confused. Why did she do it? Isn’t a rejection what she wanted? It would have been extremely painful to reject her since we had mated, and if we were weaker wolves we would have died, but we would have survived it. Now? That’s not even an option. Ugh. I need to talk to someone. I make my way out of the conference room and up to my sister’s bedroom, she’s 20 and hasn’t found her mate yet so she still lives in the packhouse with me and our parents. Jacob had already found his mate and moved into a house on pack lands, they were expecting their first pup. “Why are you sitting on my bed?” Lorena asks. “I need your help,” I murmur.
