Chapter 31--Split Chapter

1071 Words
(Camilla’s P.O.V) After Siobhan left last night, I knew things weren’t going to go well between her and Tiernan, and I was proven right when she got back to the hotel and didn’t bother to close her door as she sobbed into the blankets. I laid down next to her, holding her, trying to soothe her but I knew, nothing and no one except her mate would be able to soothe this ache. This was the last thing we needed when we are trying to investigate these kidnappings, even though we had all of the information we needed to find these children, this was a wrench in the investigation that we didn’t need. I spent the night holding her as she cried, and when she did finally fall asleep, she was having nightmares. Artis came into the room at one point to see if I wanted to switch places so that I could sleep, but I declined. When the sunlight filtered into the room, I knew it was just the beginning of a very long day. A day that Siobhan wouldn’t be a part of, and neither would one of us. She wasn’t in the correct headspace to be a part of the conversation with the High Priestess, Winona. Siobhan opens her eyes; they are puffy and red from crying all night. “When did you come in here?” She croaks. “Last night shortly after you came back. I heard you crying. You want to talk about it?” I ask, pushing her hair behind her ear. “No,” she says as tears begin to fill her eyes again. Artis comes in letting us know that they were off to go speak with the High Priestess and that they would let us know how it went. “Wait! We need to get ready! We said we would all be there.” Siobhan shrieks, jumping out of bed. “No. You are staying here with me. You aren’t in the right headspace to be in this meeting, you will be a detriment to the investigation. And I will be staying with you, so you don’t do anything stupid.” I state. Now she’s pissed. She stomps towards the bathroom and slams the door, locking it. “Get any sleep last night?” Artis asks. “No. Between the crying and the nightmares, I don’t think she got much sleep either.” I murmur. “Did she tell you what happened?” “Not yet. Though I think it’s a lot worse than a rejection.” Artis nods, before walking out of Siobhan’s room and leaving the suite with Preston and Anders following behind her. I hear the suite door shut and Siobhan comes out of the bathroom. “You going to tell me what happened last night when you went after Tiernan?” “You aren’t going to let this go until I tell you, huh?” “Like a dog with a bone, I’ll just keep asking.” I chuckle. “Ugh, fine. I went there, he started the rejection, but I slapped my hand over his mouth and then said my acceptance of our bond.” “Like, official acceptance? Did you mark him too!?” I shriek, fearing she may have marked him without his consent. The look on her face to my asking if she had marked him, made everything clear to me. She had marked him without his consent. “I didn’t want to lose him, and Tala was going crazy in my head when he started the rejection that I did the only thing I could think of. I couldn’t lose him, Cam. I couldn’t. I love him.” She sobs. (Tiernan’s P.O.V) I didn’t sleep, I couldn’t. Part of me was ecstatic that she marked me but the other half of me was pissed that she did. If this was the other way around and I had marked her without her consent the pack would be calling for my resignation and my head on a spike. We don’t mark our mates without consent, that’s just how it’s done. I could feel her pain and anguish over what she had done, now that she had marked me, I could feel her emotions clearly. What do we do Steele? Honestly? There's not much we can do Ty. I’m of two minds: the first is where I’m happy that she marked us, but the second is that I’m pissed that she did it without talking to us. We were giving her the courtesy of wooing her, getting her comfortable with the idea of being our mate. How does Tala feel? She feels guilty, she feels like her emotions mixed too much with Siobhan’s and that’s what drove her to do what she did. I’ve blocked her out now. I just nod my head, knowing that neither of us really wants to deal with our mate right now. A few minutes pass before I have a knock on my door, it was my father. “Ty, Siobhan told me what happened last night. You okay?” He asks softly. “Yeah. I’m just a bag of mixed emotions right now. I know that’s not very manly of me or whatever but there is a certain amount of trust you need to have in your mate and Si broke some of that trust with me last night.” I say, looking anywhere but at my dad. He comes over and sits down on the bed next to me, causing me to sit up and look at him. “I understand, Ty. If my opinion counts for anything, I think Si really does want to be with you and really does want you as her mate. She just was scared and when you were rejecting her, she panicked. It’s not an excuse for what she did, merely an explanation as to why it may have happened.” “I just need some time; I’ve always wanted Siobhan. Ever since I was little and first laid eyes on her, she was all I ever wanted in life and now, she’s broken the trust I had in her. She needs to earn that back.” I state. My father nods, before patting me on the shoulder and exiting my room. I decided to do what any normal man would do in this situation. Work out to the point of death.
