Chapter 3- Alpha Chad

1724 Words
Alpha Chad The past eighteen years had blown by like a flash before my eyes.. Everything we had gone through, the attacks, the darkness, the torture, it all felt like a lifetime ago... Charlie was never the same after the night she lost Alpha Damon.. She had fallen into a dark depression after the battle. I believe she was overwhelmed by it all.. The sorrow of losing one of her mates, combined with the shock and guilt from the lives she took that night. Dealing out the consequences of the Rogue's who had deserved their tragic fate.. It changed her.. She grew stronger, but I could tell that her strength came with a price. As time went on, she emerged from the darkness and grew into a different version of herself.. A mother who cherished every moment she spent with our beautiful daughter Emma. I had always been in love with Charlie, long before we knew that we were destined mates.. However, seeing Charlie be a mother to Emma made me fall in love with her all over again.. She was the most incredible mother to our daughter, attentive to every one of Emma's needs.. She was often too hard on herself, thinking that she was doing something wrong, but both Emma and I knew that Charlie was an incredible parent. She made sure that Emma had everything that Charlie herself had been deprived of as a child. A Luna, Charlie gave everything she had to ensure both of her packs had everything they needed and more. Although Beta Shawna took care of most of the responsibilities for The North Mountain Pack in Charlie's absence, she was there in a blink of an eye if they needed her.. Even as the Queen of Werewolves, and all the responsibilities that followed that title, Charlie always strived to make sure every single one of her pack members got the assistance and devotion that they needed. With Beta Rebecca by her side, helping her with pack responsibilities, the two of them brought a warmth to the Burning Moon Pack very similar to Beta Charlotte's warmth and cheer that she would often spread to our pack members. I was so proud of Charlie and how far she had come to ensure that every pack member felt included.. She never wanted anyone to feel the isolation that she felt growing up.. After everything Alpha Luther and Charlie's relationship had been through, it did not take long for Alpha Luther to come to terms with the mistakes he had made raising Charlie on his own.. Although Charlie was quick to forgive her father, I knew that it still weighed on her heart, all the repressed feelings she had as a child.. A Mate, it took time for Charlie to let me in completely.. I knew she was scared, I knew that she was guarding her heart after how badly it had been broken. But with time, she began to heal, and eventually, she allowed me to mend her heart back together. Charlie was my everything, I had spent my entire life loving her from a far, and I thanked the Moon Goddess every day for the opportunity to love her for the rest of my life. She was my entire world, my beating heart... I would not be able to survive this world without Charlie by my side. Our daughter Emma was the other part of Charlie that I could not live without. Although she was not technically my daughter by blood, that did not matter to me. She was a part of Charlie, and as far as I was concerned, she was just as much my daughter as she was Charlie's.. I loved that little girl with everything I had and more, and I would do anything to protect her and keep her safe.. The day we were blessed with Emma, my life changed completely. I was no longer only responsible for a pack, now I was responsible for a little life that meant more to me than all others.. I knew that I wanted to set an example for Emma, I wanted to be her best friend, her father.. I dedicated every day of my life to earning that title in Emma's world, and I knew I was a better man, a better Alpha because of her. Although Charlie and I had spent countless times dedicated to conceiving another pup, the Moon Goddess had only blessed us with Emma.. Charlie was often concerned that there was a void in my life.. She was worried that I would feel like there was something missing from my life, since I did not have a blood heir.. However, that was the furthest from how I truly felt.. Charlie and Emma were my entire world, and I felt blessed already by just having the opportunity to spend my life loving my two girls.. They filled my heart more than I had ever thought possible. In a way, Emma healed me just as much as she had healed Charlie the day she was born, and every day afterwards. A Queen.. Charlie stepped into her ruling role quite nicely. After all the tragedy she had endured, it seemed to activate her powers and build her into a stronger werewolf than any of us had ever seen.. She was powerful, wise, and respectful.. She showed mercy when it was warranted, but her wrath was one to fear when mercy was not an option. Now that she had control of her powers, she did not cause the crazy storms and chaos that she had when she first gained her wolf, Aria. But Charlie was never one to hesitate about putting on a show when anyone doubted what she was capable of. Charlie hated nothing more than when others would consider her inadequate to their expectations of what a Queen should be. She strived every day to put those doubts to rest and make sure our world knew exactly how powerful she truly was. I knew Charlie feared that history would repeat itself with Emma coming of age, and she was doing everything in her power to ensure that Emma was kept safe, and that every werewolf who knew of Charlie and Emma knew just as well how powerful Charlie was. She would not allow anything to happen to her daughter, and had no problem eliminating anyone who seemed as if they were a threat to Emma.. What Charlie feared most, was someone like Alpha Anthony getting a hold of our little girl.. Charlie kept a close eye on the Rogues after their last attack.. With Alpha Anthony dead, they seemed to lose the greed and rage that fed their army, all of the times they had attacked Burning Moon so brutally. It was not uncommon for packs to have their doubts about Charlie and whether or not she was the great powerful Moon Goddess descendent that we all knew she truly was.. Damon's pack especially had their doubts, and still held grudges against Charlie for their Alpha's death.. However, Beta Jason was always quick to put them back in line and make them obey their Luna.. I worried about my Emma, taking over such an unruly pack.. Those who doubted her, seemed to spread rumors like wildfire along the outskirts of their territory... Feeding onto this idea that Emma was my daughter biologically, and that Charlie was a trader, and that she had purposely allowed Damon to die that night.. The rumors crushed Charlie, but she did not dare retaliate for fear that the backlash would fall on her daughter.. Alpha Damon and Charlie's time together was so short-lived that his pack doubted that Emma was Damon's rightful heir, and therefore did not want her to take over The North Mountain Pack.. It was already rare as it was to have a she wolf take over an Alpha position in a pack, but the fact that they doubted her lineage made her that much more of a target for trouble.. Beta Jason had ensured me that he would keep Emma safe, while I was unable to do so myself.. He had James keeping a close watchful eye on Emma, which gave me some comfort in knowing that they were working hard to keep her protected from anyone who did not desire her to lead their pack... However, I desperately wanted to be there with her, protecting her myself.. I did not frequent The North Mountain Pack very often, since the night of the Rogue attack, things had been unsettled between our two packs.. Although our packs were still allies, we had lost their trust the night that Alpha Damon died.. If it were not for Beta Jason, The North Mountain Pack would not have accepted Charlie and Emma at all.. Charlie was able to keep the peace between us, but I did not want to make matters worse by being present in their day-to-day lives. So I kept my distance, allowing Charlie to rule Damon's pack however she saw fit, preparing Emma to one day take over.. I had assured Emma that if she needed me I would be there for her no matter what. I only hoped that with time, her pack would learn to trust her and accept her as their Alpha. I knew that once Emma's eighteenth birthday came around, and Emma was blessed with the powers we anticipated in her receiving, The North Mountain Pack would see a different side of her. I just knew that Emma had hoped to earn their trust and respect, rather than being forced to lead them by making them fear her.. In the meantime, Burning Moon was prepared for whatever outcome Emma's eighteenth birthday would bring. My pack loved Emma as their own, and were prepared to fight to protect her if that was what she needed from us.. For Emma will be turning eighteen on the night of the Full Moon, just as her mother once had.. On that night, there will be a ceremony taking place at The North Mountain Pack, as well as a celebration for Emma's birthday.. Beta Jason and I have an army ready to protect Emma if anyone tries anything... Although, there is no chance that anyone would be able to stand a chance of getting past Charlie... Their Queen..
