Rangi 11

'Where should I go first and what should I go about getting first' Rangi thought. He looked around the town for a bit, taking in the sights and sounds that were around him. He noticed that number of others that were clearly not locals or the usual visitors of the town. They were all heading directly towards one place as if that was the main reason they had come to this town in the first place. "Greetings. Are you new in town I tell from just looking out for you that you have some experience in a variety of things" a person said to him. "Thank you. However, as you can see I am not interested in joining the Adventurer's Guild" Rangi replied. "Really are you sure about that" they asked. "I am sure now there are other things I would like to handle at the moment" he informs them. Rangi then takes off to get away from them, unlike the others that he placed regarding people who have entered the town. He was not interested in doing that at all. 'Need to just get what I came here for and get out as quickly as possible' he thought. As the person, he saw as his mentor for how to truly deal with a variety of things in the world...at least the world outside of his village. Rangi was informed that if you are approached by Guild recruiters shortly after entering any kind of settlement be it the smallest of villages or the biggest of cities. Do not linger within them as take in the slight but do not stay for long. Any place with an Adventurer's Guild or its staff members that close to the entrance is not a place you want to remain for very long. Thus the one place that he was clearly not going to at all during his stay here. That would be the Adventurer's Guild as though he had heard a lot of interesting things about it not just from his mentor but from villagers of Malbury Point that claim some of their ancestors as being members of the Guild. This was something that was very common where he was from however no one from Malbury Point wants to be an Adventurer or ever join the Adventurer's Guild because of things told to them the descendants of former Guild members. Amongst the many reasons they were told that it was not good to be an Adventurer despite all of the perks and benefits of being one. If they became members of the guild then they could be tracked more easily and there could come times when they have to go on a job or request through force. Stories of how someone that had joined the guild when something went down and they were framed for something they did not do at all. Trying to go on the run to clear their name and find the real person or people that set them up. They did not get far before they became a part of the guild is what got them caught for all the benefits of the guild there was also a downside to being a part of it as well. The person that was caught trying to go off the grid however having signed up to the Guild at all was their downfall. Guild was able to track them everywhere they tried to hide and ditching their Guild related stuff did not help thus how they were caught shortly after going on the run. It was stories like this and others that were something that was told to him and all other villagers over and over again by the stories they kept and those said to be their descendants. In fact, everyone in Malbury Point was stated to have been descendants of those fleeing from something and that was not just the Guild either. So it was before Rangi ever started leaving the village to explore the surrounding area. These stories and warnings were drilled into him even more than when he was a kid. That the Guild exists and that he should never join it because it could lead to him getting into trouble later on down the line. That the Guild for real is nothing like the ones that they hear about in the fictional tales that have been passed down from their ancestors. Thus Rangi was glad that he did not just ignore the stories and warnings passed down in the oral and written history of his home of Malbury Point. Sure joining the Guild would have made a whole lot easier when it came to getting money and knowledge about the world outside of his home village. With him now being hunted down for some reason that was alien to him as the only reason he seemed to be targeted was that he was from the village in the first place. If he had joined the guild then it would have been possible for them to use it to track him down. The guild was this third party group that was run by those separate from those in power in the world. However, he saw firsthand someone that clearly framed from what he could tell and was on the run attempt to clear their name. They were caught only because they were a member of the Adventurer's Guild. That allowed them to easily track them down as a result. Thus how much of this was chance and luck when comparing himself to that person was something that Rangi did not want to think about too much back then or now either. Luck vs chance and reality vs fiction were things that he could think about later as the current focus was on what he needed to get and how he was going to go about getting it. This is a story of its own that connects to this one along with the story of the person that Rangi sees as his mentor who taught him the basics of how to do it and do it well enough to get by off of doing so.
