The Dark Curse

Chapter 3

I woke up with a scream! I was so confused, why would I dream again about what happened when I went diving? I still have so many questions left, was it real? Why would my necklace burn me? And what did I saw? I did not tell my friends and my mother about it because it would look like I was insane. I need to solve this on my own. First I want to know why my necklace would begin burning? It was a present from my dad when I was just a baby, so I think it would be best if I ask my mom about it.

After a quick shower, I went downstairs, I was not surprised that my mom already went to work. I will ask her about it later. On my way to school, I was still not sure about what I saw in the sea yesterday. Completely consumed by my thoughts I didn’t notice that Alex started walking beside me. “Giirrlll I have something to tell you” I looked up in terror I did not expect her. You scared me I yelled but she only laughed. “what were you thinking about?” nothing I said I just did not sleep well. “Oh, well, something happened yesterday at the sea!” I was very curious maybe I did not hallucinate. “Apparently there were a couple of surfers not far from us but the disappeared in the sea not long after we stopped diving”. My blood went cold and my heartbeat quickened. What do you mean went missing? Alex looked at me “Just like I said, they went missing, nobody knows where there are. People are saying that they disappeared in the sea, but they didn’t find their bodies.” I was shocked what do you think that happened? “ I have no idea; the water was very trouble, so I believe that they had an accident.” The rest of our trip was continued in silence, when we reached the school there was a lot of gossip going on. I didn’t hear what they all were talking about, and I didn’t care.

After picking up my books at my locker, I turned around and bumped into something very hard or should I say, someone, afraid that I bumped into Alice again I look at the person? To my surprise, it was not Alice but rather a very good-looking man. I immediately had a flashback to my encounter at the sea. This person looks like the man I saw in the sea but due to poor visibility, I am not sure. I have just a strong feeling that I met him already. I look into sky grey eyes and to my disappointment, they are not black like the man I met. "Uhm do you mind?” Embarrassed I step away from the man, I did not realize that I was staring the whole time. I am so sorry I did not see you. Instead of giving a reply he just walked away. That’s a bit rude, no? On my way to my class, my mind was restless. That man looked like the man in the sea but their eyes were not the same. I grab a seat at the window at the back because the chances are less that somebody finds me daydreaming.

I see Alice strut into the classroom. I roll my eyes en go back to looking out of the window when my eyes are drawn to the man walking behind her. Alice sees me staring and comes to me. “If I see you looking at my man one more time, I make sure that you have a very bad schoolyear are we clear?” Instead of reacting to her threat, I just ask who is that? She snorts. “Oh come on, you don’t know him? He is Jax the oldest of the brothers creed. But like I said he is mine so hands-off.” I just roll my eyes en went back at looking out of the window. So that is Jax interesting now I am curious to see how his brothers look like. And that explains why there was so much gossip. At that exact moment, I see another good-looking man walking into the classroom. He looks just like Jax, black hair, very well build and the same aura around him. They all have an aura of untouchability and a very bored look on their face. But the main difference is their eyes. Jax has like sky/stormy grey eyes but his brother I presume Zane has bright blue eyes. But why are they in the same class?

As the class went on, I have a strange feeling that someone keeps looking at me. I begin looking around the room to see who is staring, to my surprise, not one, but two persons are looking in my direction. Grey and blue eyes cross mine and I quickly look to the front again. Why are the brothers creed looking at me? Probably because I am the new girl and I spiked their interest. When our class ends I quickly grabbed my stuff and went outside, the whole hour I had the feeling of them looking at me, so I wanted to go as quickly as possible. Are they still mad that I bumped into Jax? I was almost running when I bumped into someone. Screaming inside, no not again why am I bumping into everybody at the moment! I am hesitant to look up and see who it is this time I bumped into. To my surprise it is Zane, but I was so quick out of the classroom how could he be before me in the hallway? I am very sorry I was not looking where I was walking. Surprisingly he answered very calmly. “That’s okay, I would not mind bumping into someone who is as good looking as me.” Rolling my eyes, I started to walk to my locker. “Where are you going” I was shocked that Zane was walking with me to my locker. Just to my locker, I answer him. He looked at me like I was an alien. What do you want? I asked annoyed. “I just wanted to see the new girl, and I am bored and want to see what new meat they bring in the school." Now I was really annoyed who does he think he is, comparing me to meat? I look him dead in the eyes and said. I will really enjoy it if you do not compare me to meat but try to interact with me as a normal human being. “oh you are a feisty one, normally everyone who I talked to is intimidated or just talks to me because they want on a date or something like that.” I must admit they are very good-looking and now that I am paying attention to my surroundings, I see a lot of people looking at me in envy just because he is talking to me. But to be fair I am not that mesmerized by his looks and to be honest, I think that that is bothering him. I don’t know why his looks don’t have that same effect on me as the rest of our school. I sense someone coming at us, and I turn around, we locked eyes immediately and I could not tear myself from to stop looking at him. Something about him intrigues me. Maybe it’s the fact that he is drop-dead gorgeous and mysterious or the fact that I am certain I have met him already. I am still staring at him, why is he not saying anything. I hear someone cough “can you two please get a room” I looked at Zane with a confused face. “ Oh you are so cute and innocent.” When he wanted to explain that further Jax looked at him with a deadly glair. “Nice to meet you, Ella, see you next time.” Zane yells at me when he goes after his brother. I look around and see everyone glaring at me, have I made myself the most hated girl at the school by just talking to them?

After an exhausting day at school, I went home and throw my stuff in the corner of the kitchen. I decided that I wanted to go to the beach to cool off a bit before mom comes home. At the beach, I immediately feel all my worries washed away with the rhythm of the sea while I listen to some music I begin to draw the mysterious guy I’ve met underwater. The more I am thinking about the more I a certain that it was not a dream. I took some inspiration from Jax while I am drawing but instead of his grey eyes, I make them pitch black. I was so consumed by my drawing that I was not aware that it was already getting dark. I was grabbing my stuff to go home when I see someone standing in the water, the water reach at his bare torso. What on earth, why is someone standing at this hour in the sea? He sees me and is coming my way when he is coming I see that it is Jax. I was shocked when he reached me he said. “ I was not aware that I had an audience.” He said almost amused. I was mesmerized by his wet body and messy hair that I didn't realize that it was very strange for someone swimming at this hour. “Where did you get that necklace he suddenly asks?" I was aware that I ignored his first questions, embarrassed I stuttered. M my f father gave it to me when I was a baby, but why are you swimming at this hour? Don’t you know that it is very dangerous, people have gone missing. He chuckled and oh my what a delicious sound he’d make. “No I am not afraid, I feel like a fish in the water.” Why is that I asked, because my curiousness was getting the best of me? He was getting very close, he whispered in my ear. "I could tell you everything you want to know, but you have to come with me then." I felt shivers coming down my spine and my necklace was getting warmer. Feeling that my necklace was giving me a warning I just took my stuff and stood up without a warning and begin to walk home.

When I looked back a couple of times, I saw Jax looking at me with a very strange expression, an expression that gives me goosebumps. I realized that in the reflection of the moon, his eyes looked black...
