The Dark Curse

Chapter 2

When I waked up I was a bit confused. I always thought that it was my dad singing in my dreams. But it was always with a lot of noise. But last night it was more clear. And it did not sound like my dad. Strange, maybe because we live now so close to the sea. I imagined my dreams more vividly. I was not sure. I think that that was also one of the things why I was attracted to the sea I wanted to know where the voice came from. But after all, this was just a dream. I shook the ideas when I was looking for my clothes. Same clothes 2 days in a row would that be inappropriate? I don’t know. I decided to wear a dress because it would be a lovely day. I went downside and noticed that my mom was all ready to work. But she left me breakfast and lunch! Wat an angel.

Once I arrived at school Alex was immediately at my side. “So I want you to meet my friends today.” I was a little bit shook because I didn’t notice any friends with her yesterday and I was a bit embarrassed that she abandoned her friends for me. I think she saw me looking at her. “Gosh, you are to easy to read you know that Ella? I have one other friend Brandon but he was not at school yesterday.” Now I was curious who is not on their first day of school. Why not? I asked. “His parents are very rich, and he was still on his boat yesterday” Is he not going to get in trouble? “No, his parents own half of this school, it is rather handy to have a friend who is not likely to get in trouble” I chuckled no, I can imagen that. After a couple of moments of silence, Alex said: “Today we have a free period after our lunch break and because it is a beautiful day I thought Brandon and we could go diving together.” I was immediately interested, I would love to I have never been in the sea, let alone go diving. But is it not dangerous? “Noo, it is not dangerous at all, we have the right equipment and Brandon and I do it all the time. Plus it is a good moment to get to know us better.” You are right I will ask my mother and hopefully so you there. At that moment the bell went, and we went to our separate ways.

When I arrived at my first class, I bumped into someone. I heard a loud shriek and a voice who said. “How dare you ruin my dress?" I looked at the person who is making a drama and realize that this would be one of the mean girls. I must say it is a very pretty lady. She is very long with dark almost black hair and bronze skin. Almost my opposit. When she yelled again, I was back to reality. I am s s so sorry, I stammered. “You better be b***h I did not al this work to let it ruin by the new girl. Especially not today! Now move!!!” I quickly go to an available seat. What is so special about today? I made a mental note to ask Alex about it when I see her again. I sent a message to my mother to ask if I could go with Alex today. She said it was fine and that she was happy I have made a friend but I must be careful.

“Hi girl, I heard you had your first encounter with Alice?“ I see Alex walking to me. I had texted her after school that is was okay for my mom. But because I didn’t know where we would go, I asked if she could pick me up at my house. Yeah, I met her today and I must say she is exactly as you described. But there was one thing that I didn’t get. I said to Alex when we are walking to the beach. “What was it?” Well, she said when I supposedly ruined her dress that today was a special day. “Oh, well, I think that today is the day that brothers Creed will show up again. Do you have time for a long story?” I shrugged and said, well we have to all afternoon, don’t we?“Yeah, you are right, well the brothers' creed are four brothers but nobody knows where they come from, they arrived 4 years ago but we don’t see them often. They have no parents that we know off and despite their terrible school attendance they always manage to have good grades.”That’s a bit odd a say in response.“Yeah, I know but it always helps when you are as good looking as those 4, they all look like each other but they have a couple of differences. You have Jax. He is the oldest one and is in the same year as us. Alice is eyeing him since they arrived and she has claimed him. Although I have never seen any lady with him. Then you have Zane he is one year younger and a total player. And last but not least you have the twins Jett and Maxen. I must say they are all handsome they have raven black hair and all our very good build. But they have very different eyes. You will see once they show up.”

Finally, we arrived at the beach and Alex spotted Brandon. She introduced us. Brandon looks like you typically rich boy, I think. He is a lean build and has a bit of muscle. He has dark blond hair and green eyes. Not a bad match I think in myself. He was very friendly, and I was immediately at ease. He explained everything very clear about what we would do. Alex explained that all the equipment was from Brandon and that he and his family often go diving together. So, he would be the perfect person to learn me to dive. I took a look at all the funny looking equipment. I see diving masks, scuba tanks, snorkels, wetsuits, etc. It was really confusing and all the signs that I needed to learn if something would happen. I already had a headache when he stopped to explain everything. “The water is very trouble, so we need to be careful. I am afraid that you would not see much, but we can try.” Brandon said. Okay, I mumble. I am a bit on edge because it is not every day that you decide to go to the bottom of the sea. Brandon noticed my unease and reassured me. “You don’t have to worry the sea is very calm and it is day. I would suggest never go swimming or diving at night because there are a lot of people gone missing.” Missing?? What do you mean? “It’s nothing but when you dive or swim at nighttime you don’t see everything properly so you can get hurt.” Oh, I see, and what about their bodies? Alex joined the conversation “That’s the only weird thing the bodies were never found but we have sometimes a very sea current. So their bodies could be taken further in the ocean.”

Now you guys have made me question my sanity to go diving today. “You don’t have to worry everything could be dangerous if you don’t do it properly. Event tying your shoelaces.” I look al Brandon with a silly face.“Okay, maybe not everything but you get where I was going”. You a right Brandon okay get me in all this equipment I said very excitedly. We quickly went to the sea. They were right the water is very trouble and I am struggling to see and to orientate, luckily Brandon and Alex are keeping a close watch on me. I must admit I love being in the sea. It was my very first time and it is almost as beautiful as looking at the sea. After a while, I am grabbing the hand of it. I am getting better and my confidence is growing. Brandon signals that our oxygen tanks are almost empty so we have to quit very soon. Suddenly I see something in the water. I feel strange? The water is almost humming, I am drawn to the rocks because it looks like the humming is coming from there. But closer to the rocks my vision is getting worse and I begin to struggle, I am getting panicked and I want to go back to my friends. At the moment that I wanted to swim the other way, I hear a very familiar song. My heart begins to beat very fast, almost like in a trance I begin to swim to the voice.

Hear my Voice beneath the sea

Sleeping now so peacefully

At the bottom of the sea

A little voice in my head is telling me to go back, to go back to my friends to were it is safe. Because although I very drown to the voice, I know it is dangerous. Suddenly I see something from under me coming. It looks like a man but I cannot see it properly. It's coming closer and closer and at this moment I am no longer aware of my surroundings. The only thing on my mind is the familiar song. I sense that this man is now very close to me, and I can see some of his features. It looks like a very handsome man. He had very dark hair and his eyes are almost black. He has very pronounced cheekbones and looks like a model. We are almost face to face and is holding his hand for me. What? I am very confused do I need to take is hand? But where did he comes from, it looked like he came from under me. He is singing that song again, but I cannot shake the feeling that something is wrong. Being completely compelled by his song I stretched my hand to take his. When our hands are barely a couple of centimeters from each other I got a weird feeling around my neck, my necklace is burning me!! It brings me back to reality. I quickly come back to my senses and see that the mysterious man is nowhere to be seen. Once I reached the surface, I see my friends frantically waving at me. They are already on the back again. “We were so worried!” Alex yells at me. “You took off, and I didn’t find you anymore and our oxygen was almost empty! Why did you go off alone?” I am so sorry Axel I did not want to scare you I saw something and wanted to investigate. “Well, what did you saw?” I am not sure the water was too trouble. Alex Sighs “Come on let's go home, but promise me that you will never go alone again.” I promised I said to her. I have to admit I was really enjoying it, despite the terrible eyesight. “I am glad that you liked it, we can go back ones the water is more clear,” Brandon tells. I would love to!

Once I was home I sadly saw that my mother was not there. I think that she will not be home very soon. So I begin to cook dinner for us so when my mother comes home she doesn’t have to worry about that. It is a simple meal but delicious. I hear a door when my mom comes around the corner. “Hi sweety, how was your day and Of my is smelled delicious in here. Let me guess? Ravioli?” I smile sheepishly when she spots the canned food in our oven. My day was great I tell her, I really liked diving and school was like always. You know how those went. “I know sweety being the new girl is never easy. But you do have 2 new friends right?” I was happy to see my mom happy when I mention Alex and Brandon. I am just worried that when I need to move again, I will be lonely again. Suppressing that thought I went back to enjoying my food with mom.

After having a normal evening, I went upstairs to read some books in my bedroom. I was entirely consumed by my book that I did not hear the faint voice singing until I was driving off to deep sleep. I was dreaming about that mysterious guy; I keep seeing his eyes. They were very dark and almost fearsome. I felt a shiver and I was afraid, but I was once again consumed by his singing and this time I took his hand. Once he had my hand, he took me to the bottom of the sea and right before I passed out of lack of oxygen, I could swear I saw a tail.
