Chapter 15

1017 Words
Li Han had come, as usual, to clean the pool, which was surprisingly not that dirty. Anyone else would have pretended to clean and called it a day, but Li Han wasn’t anyone else. He was being paid, after all, and he prided himself on doing the job properly. So he rolled his sleeves up and got to work. The twins were excited that the pool boy might actually be their beloved future husband, since they had smelled him on their cousin — although betas did not have pheromones, they did have their own distinct scent— They had interrogated their oblivious cousin for more information about what time he usually arrived, but he had no idea, so they decided to wake up early and watch the pool. The twins have not seen him for three agonizing weeks. Three. Weeks. To an alpha—especially a pair of obsessive twins—three weeks was practically abandonment. They set an alarm and camped by the upstairs window like hunters. They skipped breakfast and their efforts seemed to have paid off because by 11:03, the gate clicked open. The twins almost shrieked. Yo Sun slapped a hand over Yo Han’s mouth; Yo Han slapped his away; they wrestled in silent celebration like overgrown puppies. They wanted to run downstairs and tackle him on the spot, but for once—just once—they held themselves back, They lurked behind the curtains and stared like perverts they were. Li Han, blissfully unaware of their existence, dragged the skimmer across the water but he felt tiny prickles down his spine like someone was watching him. Someone hungry. He assumed it was the odd man from before, and it made him clean the pool twice as hard. Suddenly, Li Han was dragged into the water before he could even shout. His instincts fired—someone was trying to drown him. His body clung tight and desperate, fingers digging into a chest that felt like carved stone. His legs wrapped instinctively around a waist until he resurfaced, sputtering. Then he finally looked at his attacker. “Fu Fu, I missed you so much.” Yo Han’s voice burst through his panic like sunlight. Li Han barely processed the nickname before his palm cracked against Yo Han’s skull. “Ow! Fu Fu!” Yo Han yelped, clutching his head like a child. Li Han glared, breathless and furious, but a second pair of arms slipped around his waist—firm, warm, impossible to escape. He was pulled against another broad chest, the familiar scent of Yo Sun wrapping around him like a net. “Fu Fu, we’re sorry for dragging you in. Forgive us,” Yo Sun murmured, punctuating the apology with a gentle kiss to the side of Li Han’s neck. Li Han stiffened. Nope. Absolutely not. He knew this tactic. “Let me go,” he demanded, wriggling away from their hold. “I want to get out.” Yo Sun’s grip only tightened a fraction—just enough to show he could keep him if he wanted. That was always the problem with the twins, they cornered him, pressed him between them, teased him until his brain did somersaults and his morality crumbled like wet paper. And they were at it again. He felt fingers sliding under the hem of his shirt. Nope. Done. Over. Li Han ripped himself away, kicked free, and swam to the edge like his life depended on it. He climbed out, dripping wet, sputtering and furious. Behind him, the twins were laughing—full belly laughs, delighted by Li Han's reaction to their perversion. They chased after him as he stomped toward the house in hopes of changing. The closer they got, the clearer it became that Li Han’s clothes; light, clinging, drenched were rapidly turning into a see-through disaster. Both alphas froze mid-step. Yo Han made a strangled noise deep in his throat and turned around like his dignity was on fire. Yo Sun, outwardly more composed, swallowed hard, grabbed the nearest towel and some clothes, and shoved them into Li Han’s hands. “Change,” he croaked, and walked out before his pants exploded. Li Han was a bit confused but at least he was left alone to change and he was a bit grateful for the privacy because heaven knows that the twins loved sticking close to him. Freshly dressed, he tried to slip away unnoticed and get back to work. Not a chance. The twins emerged like shadows materializing out of air. They soon joined him again, bombarding him with questions and random statements like: “Do you think it’s fate that we met again?” “Fu Fu, do you live around here?” “We missed you so much!” “Stop ignoring us!” “Can you go on a date with us?” Li Han was exhausted after cleaning the pool, especially with their constant talking. When he finished and started leaving, Yo Han grabbed him and pulled him into his lap. Li Han didn’t bother struggling — they were alphas, after all — so he simply turned toward Yo Han’s face and stroked his hair, staring directly into his eyes. The touch made Yo Han go completely soft; if Li Han had asked for anything, Yo Han would’ve given it. And Li Han did. “I’ll be back, alright? I just want to go get something.” He gently stood up, but Yo Sun immediately pulled him back down onto his own lap. “What about me, Fu Fu?” Li Han slid his fingers through Yo Sun’s hair and stroked his cheek. Yo Sun groaned and melted just like his brother. Li Han couldn’t help wondering if they had gotten a perm — because it was strange for two boys to have naturally curly hair, especially from childhood. After promising he would return soon, Li Han stood and left. The twins waited for a whole hour before Yo Sun finally sighed, “He’s not coming back, is he?” “No,” Yo Han admitted, defeated.
