Chapter 5

1401 Words
Sebastian had gone to meet Rissa while Oliver laid on the couch with his phone in his hands but after what felt like an hour he realized that he was not really in the mood to be alone, so he texted Greg, his closest friend in school. Oliver: Hey man. You up for a drink? Greg replied almost immediately like every other time. Greg: Say less. Be there at 10. It wasn't long before Greg showed up with a six-pack, and they spent the next hour playing games, laughing over old inside jokes, and talking about everything. Eventually, Greg let out a loud yawn.. "You know what? Let’s go out. Hit a restaurant or something…I'm starving" Oliver considered it for a moment because there was actually food from last night in the freezer but then he shrugged. "Why not?" At the restaurant– The atmosphere was lively, the low hum of conversation blending with music that thrummed through the speakers. Shortly after they stepped into the restaurant Greg left shamelessly to flirt with the pretty girl that sat nearby while Oliver enjoyed his food alone. He lifted his head to take a sip of his drink when he noticed him. Logan. He was a tall fine man with a sharp jawline and piercing green eyes. The kind of guy who had a presence and carried himself with so much poise. He was sipping his drink when his gaze flickered toward Oliver more than once. When their eyes met again, Logan smirked and made his way over to him. "You look like someone worth talking to," he said smoothly. Oliver raised an eyebrow, amused. "That your best line?" "Depends. Did it work?" Oliver chuckled. Logan was bold and confident, but not in an overbearing way. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, filled with teasing and sharp wit and by the end of the night, they exchanged numbers. There was something unspoken in the way their eyes met and Oliver was not sure of what to make of it, but as he walked away he caught himself already wondering when they would talk again. “see you around Oliver” Logan said smoothly with a grin on his face, walking towards the other end of the road. _______ Oliver had barely stepped out of the shower when his phone buzzed. Logan: Brunch? My treat. He smirked, running a towel through his damp hair. There's something about Logan though and he liked his directness. Oliver: Sure, just text me the location. The brunch was a light hearted one which Oliver quite enjoyed as their conversation flowed naturally with some shared stories about his college life, not wanting to get personal with it. Logan also shared some interesting stories about his own school and how he came to Washington DC from Georgia, with his friend group. Oliver was unsure at first but later found himself enjoying Logan's company which felt comfortable - not deep, but familiar, as if they had known each other longer than they had. After spending hours together, Logan dropped Oliver off at his apartment. It was fun and.. Logan was definitely interested. Oliver invited Logan in without hesitation when he walked him to his door. Sebastian would not be home soon. At least, that was what he said in his text. The breeze was cool against their skin as they stood by the railing in the balcony, with Logan’s hand resting casually on Oliver’s waist. "You’re fun to be around," Logan murmured. Oliver smirked. "I’ll take that as a compliment." "You should." Logan’s voice was softer now, his gaze shifting to Oliver’s lips before he leaned in. The kiss was slow and deliberate. Logan knew exactly what he was doing..tilting Oliver’s chin up his fingers pressed lightly against his firm waist and almost immediately, Oliver sighed into it, melting into the warmth of Logan’s touch. Then--a movement inside. Sebastian was not supposed to be home yet. That was the first thing Oliver registered when he caught a glimpse of him standing by the fridge. The way Sebastian stood there, so still as stone while locking eyes with him. Oliver’s breath hitched, but he did not move. Logan was still standing close to him, his fingers skimming along Oliver’s jaw before settling on his waist again .They had been making out for a while now, the night air was brisk on Oliver’s skin while Logan’s touch was warm and steady. It had been good—enjoyable even—but now, with Sebastian there, his chest clenched. Sebastian was not looking away. Then, as if snapping out of something, he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and slammed it shut—hard. The sound cracked through the silence, making Logan pause in the middle of the kiss. And Oliver’s pulse jumped. Sebastian turned away sharply, muttering, "Didn’t realize this was a f*****g motel." His tone was flat and dismissive but there was an edge to it, something clipped and irritated. He didn’t wait for a response either, just opened his water and took a quick sip- jaw tight. Oliver shifted, suddenly hyper-aware of Logan’s hand that was resting on his hip. He cleared his throat. “Didn’t think you would be back early.” Sebastian’s eyes shifted to his with an unreadable expression in the dim light of the kitchen. “Changed my mind.” That was it. There was no explanation or sarcasm in his tone. Just that. Oliver stayed for half a second before smirking, pushing down the weird, tight feeling that was curling in his stomach. “Well, don’t let us stop you. We were just about to head to my room anyway.” Sebastian’s grip tightened around the water bottle while his knuckles momentarily turned pale. Then he scoffed under his breath and turned on his heel, disappearing into his room without another word. The door did not slam, but it shut with a firm finality that sent a strange chill down Oliver’s spine. “Is..everything okay?” Logan asked, pulling back slightly. Oliver forced a small chuckle. “Yeah,” he murmured, “just a roommate being a pain in the ass.” But even as he said it, he could still hear the fridge slamming, and the hint of something unreadable in Sebastian’s expression. Eventually, Logan lazily leaned on his shoulders with a faint smile on his face. “We should head in.” Oliver nodded, leading him back inside. They moved towards his bedroom where Logan kicked off his shoes and sank onto the bed like he belonged there. Oliver paused for a while, the weight of the night settling over him. “I’ll be right back,” he muttered before going to the bathroom and shutting the door behind him. He gripped the sink inhaling deeply. His reflection in the mirror stared back and his lips still tingled from Logan’s kiss even though his mind refused to stay in the moment. Why does it feel like something is missing? He had gotten what he wanted—Sebastian noticed. That much was obvious. From the way Sebastian refused to acknowledge Logan and the way his expression was clearly twisted with dissatisfaction after grabbing that bottle of water. Was that not the whole point? Then why did it feel like he was trying too hard to convince himself? Like he was waiting for something more? This was what you wanted Oliver, stay in the moment! He exhaled sharply. Shaking off the thoughts, he went back into the bedroom, slipping under the covers beside Logan. Logan shifted closer, giving him a warm and familiar embrace. Tonight was their first time, he forced himself to focus on Logan’s steady and deliberate touch but even so, it was not enough to keep his mind from wandering elsewhere. Sebastian's POV As he entered his room, he swiftly exhaled releasing the tension, before resting on the door. Then he heard it. Oliver’s giggle. A low murmur, followed by a faint moan. His jaw tensed almost immediately. Sebastian exhaled slowly while forcing himself to ignore it,, but the longer he stood there, the heavier his chest felt. With a grunt, he pushed himself off the door and yanked open his bedside drawer, searching for his AirPods. Anything to drown out the sound. But even with the music ringing in his ears, it did not drown out the irritation that curled in his stomach.
