"Son of a b***h!" Brienne yelled. She stared at me wide eyed after she just explained to me what just happened between her and Mark. Supposedly he had just told her he loved her and a bunch of feelings started coming up she never knew she had. There was a loud sigh at the front of the room and we both turned to Dom, who had his head in his hands. Brienne gave me a confused look then ran from the classroom. I bit my bottom lip as I faced Dom again who glared back at me but with a smile forming in the corner of his mouth. I scowled at him and slammed my head against my desk. What was I going to do with that girl? The bell rang and I lifted my head up to watch my fellow classmates exit the room. As the last person neared the door I jumped from my seat, not wanting to be left alone with Dom. "Nell?" Damn, I thought. I sighed and turned to him. He waited for everyone to leave before walking around his desk and up to me. "What are your plans for today?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Well, since you got me into trouble last night and its Friday, I have to work in the fields. Unless you plan on taking my spot, save your breath." I raised my hand up to him. He chuckled and looked down at his feet.
"I'll talk to your parents tonight and see if I can get you out of that." Again, I narrowed my eyes.
"What do you want?" His head shot up and he caught my glare.
"What? All because I want to help you out that means I want something?" He laughed. I didn't reply. I just stood there without leaving his gaze. He finally dropped his head. "Fine. I want you to come out with me tonight."
"You tell my parents about the trip and get me in trouble then sneak into my room, which is breaking and entering by the way, and force me to kiss you so I couldn't be with anyone else. You want me to go out with you tonight? I think I'd rather be in the field with John all day." I turned on my heels and headed for the door.
"I just thought you would want to be with your friends at the arcade, that's all." He paused, waiting for my reply. When I didn't give it to him he sighed. "But I see that you'd rather roll around in the dirt with the stray. Have a nice day." I turned to him fast enough that my hair swung around and smacked me in the face. His back was to me but I knew he was wearing a smart ass grin.
"f**k you, Dominic!" He chuckled and whirled back to face me and I was right; the grin on his face touched his ears and showed every tooth in his mouth. I hated it.
"So, that's a yes?" My fists clenched at my side but he had a point; I'd rather be hanging with my friends than working with John.
"Fine but don't touch me throughout the night!" I said, pointing a finger at him. He raised his hands up in surrender.
"You have my word.” I glared at him for a long moment. He was up to something and I didn't want to be a part of it. "See you tonight." I rolled my eyes and walked from his classroom. This wasn't going to be my day. I still had to work in the field after school for two hours before Dom gets out of work so I had to deal with John until then. After that I would have to deal with Dom. How could my life suck anymore?

The girl staring back at me didn't look happy. Her tan face was washed of all makeup except a little bit of eye liner. Her hair was up in a messy bun and the clothes she wore made her look like a slave. The shorts she wore were torn in several spot, one including near her butt cheek, and the light blue tank top had dirt stains all over it. The worst part was it pushed her boobs up so the field work was going to consist of stares from the jerk she had to work with. I sighed at the pitiful girl in the mirror and slipped my sandals on. It got extremely hot when working in the field so the little clothes you wear, the better. "You could go naked," John laughed at me when I had gotten back home from school. Dad had sent me straight up stairs to find clothes I was willing to get dirty and this was what I came up with. Dominic still wasn't out of work so I was probably spending the whole two hours with John. I had made my way to the kitchen to get a glass of water before sealing my fate.
"You look like a slave," Jake laughed behind me. I turned around, still gulping down the water and stared. The front door was left open due to the high heats of the day and Jake came walking in with sweat running down his shirtless chest. He reached for a glass to pour himself some water then turned to me. "It's the hottest day of the year."
I groaned. Even better. "Why me?" I whined. He laughed and drank the whole glass in one gulp. "Where are you going?" I asked as I put my glass on the counter.
"The beach. Candy is coming into town.” Candy was Jake's mate but they barely seen each other. She lived in Michigan for business. They try to see each other as much as they can and it lifted my spirit some that Jake got to spend time with her today after months apart.
"Tell her I said hi and I'll miss her. I'm going to go kill myself in the field." I walked from the house and covered my eyes from the burning sun. Already my I started sweating. Good thing I put on deodorant. Sighing, I jumped from the stairs and walked behind the house. The field was almost a mile behind the house which was a good thing because if John said one word to me I could kill him and no one would hear his screams. The wolves maybe but no one would be around for miles. My parents were out of town for a few hours and the rest of the pack was at the beach. It only made things easier for me as I plotted the murder. My feet made little noise as I picked up speed. Every time I ran this fast everything from my mind slipped away and I almost forget where it was I was going. That is until I came to the clearing and slowed my pace but not by much. First, I hit a field of flowers. Then the field started dying off and my feet were now sinking in dirt. There was nothing out here to be in awe about. Dead things were all around and the smell was even worse. Oh wait, that smell was the mutt digging in the dirt about fifty feet in front of me. I halted when I got closer. He was digging in the dirt with a hoe and didn't even notice me there. At least that's what I thought. A crooked smile started at his lips.
I rolled my eyes and kicked my sandals off. "You might want to keep those on. There's metal in the dirt that likes to poke out," he said. He looked up at me, sweat dripping from his forehead. He was shirtless and wearing jean shorts. I scanned his built body that sparkled against the sun from sweat. I had to admit he looked pretty sexy. I would never say that out loud.
"There's also black widows out here that like to bite." I cringed at the thought of spiders crawling on my legs and put my sandals back on. Our eyes met for a moment but I didn't hold it. I sighed and put my hands on my hips.
"What do I need to do?" I growled, looking off at the trees. Something flying towards my head made me jump and swing my hand. I had caught the hoe he was using. "Watch it!" He didn't even crack a smile as he leaned down and grabbed a rake hidden in the dirt.
"You picked a good time to get into trouble.” He took long strides as if trying not to step on something. He then stopped and started digging. "It's the hardest time of the season not including the high temps."
"Lucky me.” I stuck the hoe into the ground and started moving the dirt around. I had no idea what I was doing. It took me a few minutes to realize he was staring at me, amused about something. "What?"
"You don't have to do anything. I know how you tend to be.” I raised my eyebrows and dropped the hoe.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I folded my arms in front of my chest and stared at him.
"Well, I know you don't like getting dirty. It's...a girl thing, right? I get it. You can go over there and sit down in the shade." He smiled and continued to rake up the dirt.
"For you information, I'm not that type of girl. I don't mind getting a little dirty," I snapped. He stopped again and raised an eyebrow at me.
"Well then what type of girl are you?" He asked stupidly. The anger built up as I stared at him. Not sure why I wanted to prove him anything, I bent down and grabbed a hand full of dirt then walked over to him. He just watched as I rubbed the dirt all over his sweaty chest, it turning to mud after a second. I looked up into his green eyes.
"I don't mind getting dirty.”
"Looks like you don't mind a few bites either, considering you just picked up a whole spider nest." I looked down at my arms and screamed. Little black spiders crawled on my arms, making me shake them frantically. John laughed at my dismay and flicked the ones on his chest.
"Why don't they bite you?" I asked, finally calming down.
"They do, I'm just use to it.” Spiders were the last thing on my mind as I picked up the hoe again. I tuned out whatever John was saying and listened closely to hear the waves a few miles away. It was hard but eventually the waves sounded as if I was laying on the beach with my toes in the warm sand. I closed my eyes and let the wind take me away from this dry, spider infested wasteland.
