I wasn't able to move after what he did. I just let him kiss me, a smack kiss. After a few seconds, his eyes locked mine for a moment and looked behind me.
I was curious so I looked at where he was looking. There I saw a man standing, looking at us. Is he the reason why he kisses me?
“Let’s go shopping,” he said and started driving.
Who is that man by the way? Is he acting to kiss me for that man? Urgh, so many questions in my head!
After buying things I needed for the party, I immediately went to my room to let my body relax. I was so tired from walking in that huge mall! Tomorrow afternoon, all those things we bought will be delivered here.
I look at my phone when I receive a notification.
“Oh, father will be there too. I can’t wait to see him again!” I murmured as I drew a smile on my lips. “Alright, let us have a good night's sleep!”
.
Classes were dismissed earlier than expected yet there are a lot of things I needed to do. I don’t even know what to do first since the party will be held tonight.
Since I’m still a student, everyone expects me to maintain the highest grades at all times. The pressure is overwhelming. How am I supposed to balance my responsibilities as a student while also fulfilling my role as the wife of a billionaire?
Madam Therese was helping me get dressed. While I was looking at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but to compliment my beauty. I wouldn’t think I could be this gorgeous as h.ell!
“You will be the most beautiful woman at the party, Ma'am Elsie,” Madam Therese said as she was combing my hair.
She was supposed to braid it but I just told her to keep my hair down.
“Come on Madam Therese, just call me Elsie.” I stop for a moment and speak again. “You think I would be able to handle those people? Lacrus will introduce me as his wife. I know it won’t be easy.”
She just smiled at me and caressed my hair. “You will be fine. No one will try to harm or harass you there as long as you’re with Lacrus.”
Yeah, I know. Who would dare to harass me in that party publicly anyway, especially that my husband is one of the richest men in our country. A billionaire, to be exact. I wonder how Damara will react if she sees me with Lacrus.
I smirked as I think of it.
“I will make her jealous as h.ell as revenge for what she did to me in the past,” I murmured.
“Hmm? What did you say?”
My eyes widened in shock.
“It’s nothing, Madam Therese!”
“Alright, let’s get down or you two will be late. I’m sure Lacrus would fall in love with you in that blue mermaid dress, Elsie.”
I stood up and looked at myself in the mirror again. I’m stunning! I smiled as I turned around. I’m wearing a backless blue mermaid dress by the way.
“Okay.”
Madam Therese was walking behind me and when we were finally at the first floor where I should meet Lacrus, I stopped.
My heart was beating so fast. I’m overthinking things, I don’t know.
“Why?” Madam Therese asked.
“Uhm, nothing.”
Do I really look presentable? Will everything be alright at the party? Why can’t I shake this feeling of hesitation? Is something bad about to happen?
I just shook my head and continued to walk until my eyes saw him. He was wearing a black tuxedo and black pants. Everything was black.
Doesn’t he know what color is? Why is everything he’s wearing black?
“You look stunning,” he says as his eyes fixed on my face.
“Of course I am,” I confidently said as I smiled.
“Because of the dress, of course. Don’t be too confident just because I complimented you,” he says and starts walking.
I pouted.
Why is he acting like this? Just yesterday, he was so sweet. And now he’s back to being like this again. What on earth is his problem?
I followed him and entered the car. Both of us were sitting at the back while Calix was the one who was driving.
“It will be a one hour drive,” Calix said and both of us nodded.
The trip was silent, no one was trying to break the silence that made me even more anxious. Lacrus was just looking at the window while me here, looking in front.
I clenched my fist and tried to breathe in and out to relax myself. I will meet my father there so I must be happy!
After an hour-long drive, I looked out the window and saw groups of people already drinking and laughing outside. The moment our car came to a stop, every pair of eyes turned toward us. My anxiety crept back in as I slowly pushed the car door open.
Lacrus stepped out first and started walking without hesitation. I quickly followed behind him.
“Better don’t leave at my side or you’ll get lost.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t be.” I rolled my eyes and heard him chuckle a bit.
The two of us walked through the yacht together. Before long, I spotted my father, a warm smile on his face as he looked at me. Standing beside him was Damara, her gaze fixed on me with unmistakable hostility.
A moment later, the corner of her lips curled into a smirk before she turned and walked away.
What is she planning this time?
While I was distracted by Father and Damara, I suddenly noticed Lacrus making his way through the crowd, shaking hands and exchanging greetings with the guests.
Did he seriously just leave me here? I swallowed hard. What am I supposed to do now? Walk up to them and start shaking hands too?
Ugh… I hate crowded places.
