I was frozen the moment his eyes met mine. His sharp eyes turned my body into stone. I can’t move!
“Get out!” He shouted in anger that made me abruptly close the door and run to where I could hide.
I saw another room with white door and that is where I decided to hide. I immediately close the door and lock it.
“Oh, man. First day in his house, I made him furious!?” I lay down on the floor, getting teary-eyed by how it affects me. I really don’t want to get shouted; it makes my heart aches.
I calm myself down. I breathe in and out, like father told me whenever I experienced this. After moments of time, I finally help myself calm down.
It almost dark and I heard Madam Theresse knocks at the door, telling me to come out but I was so ashamed of what happened earlier. I can’t face any of them, especially him.
“I wanna go home. I want to talk with father in my room,” I silently cries and hugs my knees as I sat in my bed.
I slowly looked at the door when I heard the doorknob slowly opening. When the door opens, there I saw Lacrus looking at me. His face is different now than earlier.
He slowly enters my room and closes the door.
“What? Are you here to reprimand me to what I have done earlier? It is my fault, so, I am sorry,” I speaks and didn’t face him.
I heard him deeply sigh. “It was Madam Theresse’s fault for not giving you the right direction so you accidentally open the door of my room.” He paused for a moment. “I’m sorry for shouting you earlier.”
My eyebrows raised from what I have heard. Lacrus Valencia is saying sorry? I didn’t think he knows how to say sorry?
I slowly move my head to look at him. “Is that genuine?”
His forehead furrowed. “What do you mean?”
I just shook my head. “Nothing, I was just surprised. Why bother to say sorry anyway? For that?”
I heard him click his tongue and immediately walk out of the room. “If you don’t want to accept my apology, so be it. Madam Theresse is inviting you for dinner, you can eat with her,” he coldly reply and close the door.
“Tsk, still a heartless man.”
I just decided to get up and went to where the kitchen is. Luckily, I saw a maid and ask her to help me find the kitchen. It is a relief that all of the workers in his mansion are good people, for at least I know I am safe here. Everyone is safe to accompany with, except him.
“Here you are! I am glad you finally get out about your room, I was worried sick about what I had heard. Are you okay?” Madam Theresse asks while checking up my body.
“Uhm, yes, I am fine.”
“I am sorry, it was my fault I forgot you two have the same door. I am really sorry. He apologize to you, right?”
Ah. I guess the reason why he say sorry because maybe Madam Theresse told him.
“Y-yes, he went to my room,” I shortly replied.
I saw Madam Theresse sigh and smiles at me. “I heard from your father that you love to eat buttered shrimp. I request it to our cook to cook it for you.”
I look at where the long table is and saw a lot of dishes. I point at myself and ask. “Am I the only one who eats that?”
“Yes, it’s okay if you can’t finish it.”
“What about Lacrus?”
“Oh? He? He doesn’t eat dinner.”
“Will you eat with me, Madam Theresse? And how about the other maids?”
Madam Theresse looks at the maids at her back, who just kept on standing and looking at us.
“They will eat after you. They also have their own share with our food here.”
I pouted. “I don’t eat alone especially if I saw people watching me eating alone. Is it okay if they will eat with me in the same table?”
Madam Theresse was silent for a moment then looks at the four maids at her back.
“Well, if that is what the madam says.” I smiled after I heard what her response is. I look at the maids as well and all of them were shock yet I can see the happiness in their eyes.
Eating with these new people somehow made me feel at ease. It was a moment of happiness to me. With this, I can somehow connect with them especially since I will be living here for I don’t know how many months or years.
“If you need anything, you can ask me or the other maids.” I nodded after Madam Theresse speaks. “Goodnight.”
I smiled. “Goodnight, Madam Theresse.”

It has been few days since I live with Lacrus and in those days we haven’t interacted at all. Except for the moment he shouted at me and apologize because he had no choice.
Father contacted me every day, asking for an update about me. Well, I’m happy with talking with people here in this mansion. They are all good people, especially Madam Theresse. I feel at home because of her.
“I heard you are still studying?” Madam Theresse ask me.
We are at the garden. Madam Theresse were cutting the extra leaves and flowers of the plants.
“Yes, I am in my last year of school. I stopped for 2 years due to personal reasons.” Madam Theresse look at me. “I am adopted. It was father who helped me so I can be with my supposed to be batchmates in school.”
“Oh, I see. That is why you’re different from your sister.” She chuckles that made me chuckles too.
“You are here.” I look at where I heard that cold voice is. There I saw Lacrus walking towards us.
“Sir Lacrus, don’t you have meeting today?” Madam Theresse ask.
“I cancelled the last meeting,” he replied then looks at me. I raised an eyebrow looking back at him. He then looks away. “Anyway, is there anything you want to order for the house?”
Madam Theresse looks at him. “Ah yes, some in our food storage and other materials needed is now running out of stock.”
“Alright, here.” He then give his black card to Madam Theresse. “Buy anything needed.”
My jaw dropped. Wow, he trust Madam this much? That he give his card to a head maid?
“Why me, sir? I think the one who will hold that now is your wife.” Lacrus looks at me causing me to scared a little.
“No, you hold it.” Then he left us without saying any word.
I pouted. Why does he need to be so rude? I know he can’t trust me that much for him to entrust his card to me but saying like that in front of me? I hate him!
“I’m sorry, Madam Elsie.”
I just smiled at her. “No it is fine! It is understandable. I am only his wife in paper. Anyway, can I come with you?”
Madam Theresse smiled. “Yes.”
I was about to walk towards Madam Theresse when I heard Lacrus voice again. I look at him.
“You come with me.”
I point myself.
“Me? Why?”
“Do I need to explain myself?”
I went silent for a moment. Why do I feel like I did something bad again?
