I am looking around confusedly. I did not expect a VIP like him to want to go in a public mall like this. Is he not worried about his safety? That someone might grab him and try to take all of his money?
It does’t matter, he wants this anyway.
We already parked somewhere safe where a guard is visible to check the big bike that he has.
“This is where you want to go?” I asked him when we started walking.
“Yeah, the last time I went here was when I was a kid with my parents.” I immediately turn to look at him.
About that, his family is something rarely to talk about. It was as if it was intentionally hidden for people not to talk.
“If you don’t mind, where are your parents, by the way?” I speak.
He did not answer and went silent for minutes, an act that he doesn’t want to answer this kind of question.
“I’m sorry,” I added.
“I highly suggest that you don’t ever ask about my personal information again. What you hear and what you see about me, that is the only version I allowed you to hear and see.”
I pouted when he said those words with a cold tone.
“Okay,” I shortly replied.
When we finally enter the mall, I look at each and every store I see. The last time that I had been here as well was the time that Father adopted me. He bought me things and clothes to wear.
“Where do you want to go and why choose this place?” I ask looking at him.
“I just want to stroll around and take a look. Do you have a place you want to go before buying the books that you want?”
“I don’t have one.”
“Do you feel hungry? Do you want to eat anything?” I turn to face him after he speaks in such a lovely tone. "Maybe an ice cream."
After giving me a cold tone, he’ll give me that sweetness?
“Hmm, okay. An ice cream would be good.”
We went to an ice cream shop and took a seat. I look at him enjoying his strawberry ice cream. He looks like a baby boy eating. I can’t help but giggle.
“Why?” He raises his eyebrow at me.
“Nothing. I am just happy eating this chocolate ice cream once again. Is it bad to giggle?”
“I did not say it’s bad. I am just asking why. You are being so defensive.”
I raised my eyebrows at him.
“I am not being defensive here, Mr.”
“Yeah, you talk too much for a lady.”
What the h3ll!?
I stabbed my spoon into the ice cream and took an angry bite, shooting him a glare as he continued to eat his own ice cream.
As if he hadn’t just gotten on my nerves!?
It wasn’t like what he said irritated me. Not really. But the way he’d said it—that guy, effortless tone of his—was what made me furious.
Okay, calm down, Elsie. That’s your husband and the man that is helping you and your father. Calm down.
After we eat, we have decided to visit every store in this mall. While visiting, Lacrus can’t help but to buy clothes and other things that he find interesting. Of course, he also bought something for me.
He was carrying the things that he bought for himself and I carry what is mine. I was worried back then because he bought a lot, good to know he did not try to carry some of it to me.
Yeah, that’s really how harshly I look at him.
When we finished what we were eating, we stood up to get out of the store. We were about to walk when Lacrus immediately stop causing me to bump at his back.
“Why did you stop?” I ask as I look in front of him.
He is looking far away. I try to see when he was seeing but do not know what it is until a man looks at us with a warm smile on his face.
“Do you know about that man?” I ask but he is not answering.
I look at his face all I could see is anger. His eyes flashed as he glared at the man, as if he were his worst enemy. I glanced at him myself, and he seemed rather cheerful and kind—nothing like him, with his grumpy expression.
“Hi, Lacrus. It’s been a while!” The man cheerfully greeted him and immediately went i front of him. “Oh, you must be Elsie, his wife?” he asks when he sees me.
“Uh, hi, yes I am,” I answered shortly.
“Good to see you. How's life as Lacrus's wife, hmm?” he asks.
I look at Lacrus, and he is still glaring at him. Who is he? Is he a friend of him? But the way he looks at him, it seems he is not.
“Of all places, I will be meeting you here,” Lacrus speaks causing the two of us to look at him. He grabs my hand closer to him and speaks again. “And stay away from her.”
The man just smirks looking at him. “I don’t know what to believe about– the rumors circling around or how you just want to protect what is yours? Are you worried I might take her, Lacrus?”
I can sense that he was ragebaiting him. He wanted to make Lacrus furious and how short-tempered he is and from the look of it– I think he took the bait.
“Move.”
His voice suddenly turned intimidating, but the man just responded with an annoyingly smug smile.
