unexpected reunion

He turned his head away from me with an expressionless gaze. I stood there, staring at him. He walked over to the mic and started talking. "Hello, everyone." As soon as he spoke, everyone screamed like he was part of BTS, ready to sing. Ugh, talk about "pick me" girls. The conference lasted for an hour, with him talking and only the adults listening to what he was saying. The whole time, girls and ladies were screaming, gossiping, or imagining he was their boyfriend, while the other guys were just standing there, wishing they were in his shoes. After it ended, he immediately left the stage. Some people bowed, while others screamed like he was performing a show for them. Everyone started leaving, and I put my glasses back on. As I turned around to leave and meet Stephen, I paused. Two big, mean-looking guards were staring at me. They were corporately dressed in black and white suits, and on their faces were huge glasses. "Can you please follow us, ma'am?" one said, his voice very terrifying. "To where?" I asked frantically. "The boss wants to see you." I paused for a little while, then my head snapped back. Oh, Axel wants to see me. I immediately felt dizzy. I had thought he didn't recognize me, but did he? "Follow us," the other one said, and both turned to leave. I stared in Stephen's direction, but he was no longer there. I followed the two guards, and they led me to a mansion beyond the gate. The mansion had been locked ever since I could remember. As one of them opened the gate, my mouth dropped - this was even finer than Anita's house. The well-arranged trees, the sophisticated swimming pool, the huge mansion painted in white... We stepped into the mansion, and I kept gasping. I had thought this mansion was haunted all my life, and Kelvin would also tell me horrible stories about this place whenever he claimed to enter. But this was not looking like anything he said or I thought. The huge paintings and chandelier hung on the wall, and the yellow light bathed me in its embrace. We soon stopped in front of a room. "The boss is in there," one of them said again. As I slowly twisted the door knob, the view that came to my face was perfect. He was sitting there comfortably. I didn't know what was finer - the room or himself. The room was white with an ancient, beautiful chandelier. The chair and table were sparkling white, and the marble floor was also white. He was sitting there, his gaze on me, the gorgeous face that always makes my palm sweaty. His posture was relaxed, as he had taken off his suit jacket and unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt, making him even hotter. "Take your seat, Sarah," he said. This voice was even better than last night's. He turned a seat for me, and I took it. I sat down, now facing him. "Be careful, Sarah; don't do anything that will tarnish your image right in front of this demi-god." I braced myself, maintaining my composure. "Why did you call for me?" I asked, then looked at my wristwatch like I had something to do, when honestly, I just wanted to go jump on my bed and reach cloud seven. "I'm sorry; I won't take too much of your time... How are you doing, Sarah? Your bruise?" He asked, staring at my leg. "Oh, good; my leg is good as good as a horse's leg." I immediately slammed my mouth shut. I had just embarrassed myself in less than a minute of being there. He chuckled, then asked again, "How are you doing?" "Good," I replied instantly. I had really thought he would have forgotten about me all those years, but he didn't, even after rejecting him and having the biggest glow-up. "Okay, let's cut to the chase," he said, and I nodded. I needed answers about why I was there. "You know very clearly that I am the next mayor of this city, and also recently, the president spoke on this, and he was thinking of adding the neighborhood city, 'Zenith City,' to ours, with only one mayor, which I am still suggesting is me." He said. I couldn't help but notice as he spoke, a beautiful dimple showcased on his cheeks, and my stomach churned. "Okay, how did I enter all of this?" I asked. "I want you to tell and show me everything about Everwood," he said. "Huh," I raised a brow. "I mean, I want you to help me reconnect to the city stay." He said. "But isn't this where you grew up?" I asked. "Just for 10 years, I have forgotten all about this place," he answered. "But...but don't you have guards that can do that for you...I mean, they can drive you around and tell you where everyone is and everything is," I said, honestly not knowing why someone like him would call me in the first place. "Urmm...I don't want attention all over me, just like what happened today," he said with a hard face. It looked like he was uncomfortable with what happened today. "But why me?" I squeezed my face. "Because you are the only friend I can still remember, and we met just yesterday, and I instantly remembered it was you," Axel said with a soft look. "I'm...I'm not sure about this," I said, helping Axel around the city would surely be a problem. "It's just a few weeks, and consider this as a replacement for my car," he said with a smirk on his lips. He knew he got me. "Fine," I shrugged. In less than a minute, he got up and left the room, leaving me there. It was his guards that followed me out. Stephen had left with my scooter, causing me to trek back home. "Why will Axel Harrison come to meet me for help?" My thoughts flew back to the shallowness of my mind. Last time we talked, I rejected him, which was 12 years ago, and now he is back in town as the next mayor. Speak of a transition. I got home that evening, wretched. I would have beaten Stephen to a pulp for leaving me there alone and taking my scooter along with him. I went straight to my bed and dozed off. My eyes stuttered open as I reached for my phone. 7:40!!! I immediately jumped off my bed; my alarm hadn't woken me, but instead, Stephen's usual loud music. I took my bath and got dressed, all between fifteen minutes. I rushed downstairs and grabbed my keys on the desk, reached for my scooter, and then went to work. As I arrived at my restaurant, I breathed out loud. I don't know what Mr. Darwin will do to me if I arrive late again. I entered and immediately rushed to the store room and put on my apron, then my cap. I didn't seem to find Kelvin around, but I didn't mind. He might be busy with his girlfriend, and that's none of my business. The day was even much easier since Kelvin wasn't around until Mr. Darwin called me for home delivery. "Sir, but that is Kelvin's job." I grunted. "But do you see him around?" He threw his hands in the air. "You are his boss; you can call him." "Listen, young lady, you will go deliver this chicken meat to this address." He handed the house address to me, and I swallowed. Arghh, I hate home delivery; I will have to fake a smile at some hungry fools. I put on my helmet and rode on my scooter, following the house address. My blood boiled as I parked by the person's house. ANITA! I swear I would have turned back, but Mr. Darwin will snap my head off. I frantically rang the gate bell many times, but no one was showing up. As I turned to leave, the gate opened, and the most annoying voice sounded. "Leaving already, Mrs. Crazy." She said as I glanced at her blonde hair, rough and scattered, but she still looked very beautiful; I must admit. My eyes flew open as I saw what she was wearing - she was putting on my favorite grey hoodie among Kelvin's hoodie collection. "Yes, it belongs to him; too bad I couldn't let him go last night; he was just too good in bed; I couldn't let him leave." She said, seeing my gaze on the hoodie. "Sorry, he couldn't come to work today; he will tomorrow, that's if I let him go." She then laughed at her own joke; who is the Mrs. Crazy now? "Here is your order." I pushed the chicken box to her hand. She then poured it all to the floor, with all chicken scattered everywhere. "I never ordered the chicken; I ordered you." She laughed. "I saw your face at my birthday party when I was with him; jealous freak." She added, shrieking. "Your payment, pls." "Ohh, that." She then brought out a bundle of dollars and tossed it in my hands. I then removed the required dollar bill and flung the rest on her face. "Yes, you shouldn't eat chicken; you will only get fatter; you are already fat enough; go use all that dollars to get some vegetables and stuff it in your ugly mouth." I said, leaving. She did not say anything but just looked like she had seen a ghost. I rode on my scooter back to work. As I parked my scooter in front of the restaurant, I couldn't help but notice a black expensive car parked. Oh, looks like we have a rich customer. Then my gaze shifted to a familiar dude resting on the car, his gaze on his phone, and completely ignoring all the girls all over him. As I turned to leave to avoid any drama, Mr. Darwin shouted. "Oh, look, Sarah is back." I slammed my hand on my face; that old fool. I then turned to them with Axel staring at me, not even a single expression seen on his face. He called me over, and as soon as I reached him, he pinned me to his car and brought his face closer to mine. My face flushed. Is he about to kiss me? My stomach started doing the weird stuff again, acting like there were some butterflies in it. As his face was inches close to mine, I closed my eyes, expecting the most anticipated kiss, then suddenly he opened the car door. He only leaned in to open the car door, not kiss me.
