Chapter 8: Date
Holding an iced coffee in her right hand, Ivy walks into the hallway of the hospital not minding the faces looking at her, her proctor treats her well now, so she is confident to show off in front of everybody. She doesn’t have a lot of workloads which made some of her classmates jealous of her, but she doesn’t care.
“Ivy I heard that Loffy is hitting on you,” her proctor asks her and she nodded. Well, they have been chatting and are now in their talking stage, Loffy is the son of the owner of the hospital so, he told them to treat Ivy well.
“You’re so pretty that sir Loffy wants to date you, I am so jealous,” she said in amusement, Ivy doesn’t care about her proctor’s demand the only this she is focusing on now is that they are now on good terms.
“I like how you treat us now, you are treating us with the same respect as we give you,” Ivy stated and her proctor nodded.
“Being strict actually was an act, I just want to test you all, how can you handle such a supervisor, who is beyond strict, I want to train you with things like this, I hope it didn’t give you a different idea.”
“It actually does, we got the actions or should I say your actions as a negative treatment for us, I just can’t believe that you are actually doing it for some reasons, well, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t mind it, I am used to it, I was actually like this from the previous interns, and I don’t care if at the end they will hate me, but look at them now, most of them working abroad and doing fine.”
“Because you still helped them,”
“Not that I pulled some strings for them, I just gave them tips,” her proctor stated that making them laugh together.
The whole afternoon they are staying inside the pharmacy, enjoying the aircon and giving medicines to the patients, from time to time Loffy will check on her, she just gives him the attention he need and then work again. But of course her tease proctor always give her looks that making her shrugged her shoulders.
“Aw, I can see the in love sir Loffy now, kind of amusing huh,” she said while laughing. She actually agreed with her because Loffy when she first saw him was a kind of cold man, not until Her friend Levi introduced him to her.
“Thanks to Levi, I guess?” Ivy stated and laughed.
While Ivy is busy fixing her bag and now getting ready to go home, someone entered the pharmacy, it was Loffy, and she immediately smiled at him and he did the same. Her proctor is singing a random melody while leaving the pharmacy.
“Do you still have work hours?” he asked and Ivy shook her head.
“Great, I ended mine too,” he said and went to help her in carrying her bag.
“I can handle it is just one bag,” ivy told him but he still insisted.
“Do you need to change?” he asked and nodded.
Ivy told Loffy to drop her by in her condo unit to change her outfit also to freshen up, even if it was airconditioned inside the pharmacy she still feel so dirty. Loffy waited in the garage she doesn’t want Loffy to come inside her pad because it feel so wrong for her. After getting dress and freshen up, she went to the lobby, and chatted Loffy that she’s ready to go.
While they are on their way, Loffy is telling her storied how did his day go. And when they ran out of topics he will play a random song, and they jam into that song.
“Where are we heading?” Ivy asks him.
“Hmm, I knew an Italian restaurant here, the co-owner is my friend,” he said, which made Ivy shocked.
Fuck, fancy restaurant, well Ivy remember he is rich. Ivy told herself while being quiet for a while. Loffy chuckled when she saw Ivy’s reaction when he told him about the Italian restaurant.
“Don’t worry I got a discount there, as his regular customer,” he said while chuckling and then Ivy nodded.
Loffy drove all the way to the restaurant he is pertaining too. And when they got there amusement was all over Ivy’s face because the place is too glamourous that she was too stunned to speak about it, the interior design was so Italian that makes it extra romantic.
“Shall we?” he asked as he offered his arms on her, Ivy immediately clung to him, even she is kind of shy. It was her first time dining in such cuisine. And she doen’t know what to react.
“Uhm, what do you want?” Loffy asks her and she looked at the menu. She nearly fainted when she saw how pricy the foods are, she looked at Loffy and he just smile.
“Well, uhm, just pasta,” she said and gave the menu to the waiter, Loffy chuckled and then the waiter asks him, he is stating Italian food that Ivy can’t read.
Fuck if it was the medicine I can read it, but such pricy food with so little serving gives me a headache! Ivy is talking to herself in her mind while watching Loffy stating his orders.
“You should order whatever you want on the menu,” Loffy stated and Ivy just gave him a shy smile.
“Well, if you’re thinking about the bill, you don’t have to worry miss, I can pay for it,” he said and held her hands, Ivy then smiled at him “I am borrowing your time, so it is a must for me to treat you tonight, right?” he added.
While they are waiting for the food, Loffy is telling her some history of the restaurant and how the co-owner and he become friends. Ivy is silently listening to him and getting amazed at the same time. Hearing their friendship that lasted since they were young, she thinks that Loffy is actually a good guy.
When their orders have been served, Ivy was amazed because there are too many dishes in front of her, Loffy is just smiling and he finds it cute when Ivy is excited to see something.
“Isn’t it too much?” she asks Loffy and he just chuckled which made her pout.
“No, just eat up,” he said and raised the glass of wine for a toss.
They were silently eating and every spoon full of the food is giving Ivy butterflies, the food was just so fine that she wanted to eat it all. Even her only order is pasta because that was the cheapest one, but since Loffy is wicked he ordered foods that she didn’t know she would love. She enjoyed eating also Loffy enjoyed watching her, the feeling for Loffy was new, he only felt this kind of feeling just now, not even in his past relationship. While staring at Ivy she noticed the sauce on the side of Ivy’s lips.
He wiped it using his thumb and wipe it off using a tissue, Ivy was stunned for a while, that she wasn’t able to move for a second but then Loffy snapped her fingers in front of her which made her come back to her reality.
“Ow, sorry, I messed up,” she said and get the tissue to wipe off again her lips.
“You look cute,” Loffy told her that making her blush, she hid it by eating her pasta.
After eating in that restaurant they decided to go to the mall, Loffy wants to watch the movie, and since he was the one paying Ivy to go with him. They watched a RomCom movie that made them laugh together, most of the scenes Ivy would slap Loffy’s shoulder when the Leading lady do some horrible things. After the movie, Ivy still can’t get over what they have watched and she still talks about it. While Loffy is being in the high heavens just by there watching Ivy happy with the things that made him feel alive.
Loffy asks Ivy to accompany her to buy his new shoes and Ivy agreed to him. She wanted to reciprocate Loffy’s kindness and she feel so alive just a while ago. After a solid hassle in her internship and doing research this day becomes an escape for her that she is thanking Loffy for doing such a thing for her.
“Which do you think is better?” he asks Ivy and Ivy thinks for a while before telling him her bet.
“Balenciaga looks better for your office outfits, but Gucci suits your style,” she told him, Loffy nodded and brought the two shoes, Ivy gets stunned when she saw his black card.
“Wow, rich people daily living,” she joked and Loffy just patted her head.
“Not really, I just like how honest you are, and I also need new pair of shoes for work and daily getaways,” he said, Ivy then agreed.
I hope I can differentiate my working shoes and my running shoes, but yeah they’re the same. Ivy told herself and they walked together. Still talking about random things, they stopped by when she bump into someone.
“Ow, sorry,” Ivy said sorry, and Loffy was about to shout to the guy but he recognized him.
“Hmm, Liam bro,” he said and they fist bumped.
“Hey, hmm, on a date?” he asked and Loffy nodded.
They talked for a minute and then, they bid their goodbyes. Loffy dropped Ivy on her condo unit.
“Bye thanks for the dinner,” Ivy told him.
“Thank you for your time,” Loffy told her “I guess see you tomorrow?” he added.
“What?”
“Are you free?”
“Yeah,” Ivy answered.
“Okay all set, tomorrow 8 am I’ll fetch you here,” he said as he drove away.
Oh, another day of me realizing how poor I was.
Holding the iced coffee in my hand, I strolled confidently through the hospital hallway. Faces turned to look at me, but I no longer cared about their opinions. My proctor's treatment had taken a positive turn, and I relished the opportunity to flaunt our newfound camaraderie. The envy from some of my classmates barely registered on my radar; their jealousy was inconsequential.
My proctor, a woman who had once been strict and intimidating, now approached me with an air of camaraderie. The rumors about Loffy's interest in me had apparently reached her ears.
"Ivy, I heard Loffy's been trying to get your attention," she said, a teasing smile playing on her lips. I nodded in response, not bothering to hide the truth. Loffy and I had progressed beyond the initial stages of conversation.
"Sir Loffy finds you quite captivating. I must admit, I'm a tad envious," she quipped, her amusement evident.
"I appreciate the change in how you treat us now. It's a welcome shift," I replied, my voice tinged with sincerity.
"Being strict was a bit of an act. I wanted to see how you all would handle a supervisor like me—someone strict beyond measure. It was a test of sorts," she explained, a hint of mischief in her eyes.
"It certainly made an impression," I admitted with a chuckle. "Your strict demeanor left us with a certain perception, I won't deny that."
She laughed along with me. "Don't worry about it. I'm used to it. Previous interns have had their share of difficulties with me. I wasn't concerned if they ended up disliking me. But look at them now—most are flourishing abroad."
"That's because you extended your help to them," I pointed out.
"Not exactly. I merely offered some guidance," she clarified, her humility evident.
Our easy banter continued as the afternoon wore on. We spent our time inside the pharmacy, basking in the cool air and fulfilling our duties. Every so often, Loffy would make an appearance, checking on me. I'd give him a moment of attention before returning to my work. My proctor's amused glances and knowing looks were impossible to ignore, though.
"Your admirer seems quite smitten," she teased, a sly smile playing on her lips.
"Levi does have a knack for matchmaking," I replied with a laugh, recalling how my friend had introduced me to Loffy.
As the day drew to a close, I began to tidy up my belongings, preparing to head home. Loffy, true to his word, had been waiting for me in the hospital garage. I grabbed my bag, but he insisted on helping, his arm extended for me to take. I hesitated briefly before looping my arm through his. It felt oddly natural, and I couldn't help but smile.
"I can manage with just one bag," I protested lightly, though I didn't resist his gesture.
"I know, but consider it my way of ensuring you get home safely," he replied, his tone light.
Concern and warmth mingled in his gaze, and I found myself feeling surprisingly at ease with him.
"Do you need to change before we head out?" he asked, his concern genuine.
I nodded, appreciating his thoughtfulness. "Yes, that would be great."
As I freshened up and changed into a more comfortable outfit, I reflected on the day. Loffy's unexpected kindness had lifted my spirits, and I looked forward to spending more time with him.
When I emerged from my condo, ready to go, Loffy's smile greeted me. My heart skipped a beat as he offered his arm, and I gladly accepted.
"Shall we?" he asked, his voice tinged with a hint of excitement. I couldn't help but feel a flutter of anticipation.
We headed to his car, our conversation flowing effortlessly. Loffy shared stories about his day, and I found myself getting lost in his anecdotes. When the topics dwindled, he started playing a random song, and we found ourselves jamming along, our laughter filling the air.
"Where are we headed?" I finally inquired, my curiosity piqued.
Loffy's eyes sparkled mischievously. "I know a great Italian restaurant nearby. The co-owner is a friend of mine."
My surprise must have been evident, for he chuckled. "Don't worry, I get a discount there as a regular customer."
The restaurant turned out to be a glamorous haven, the interior exuding an authentic Italian ambiance. I was momentarily speechless as we stepped inside, in awe of the opulent decor.
"Shall we?" Loffy offered his arm, and I looped mine through his, grateful for his presence.
Inside the restaurant, we perused the menu, and I struggled to hide my shock at the prices. Loffy's chuckle only deepened my embarrassment.
"You should feel free to order whatever you like," he reassured me, his gaze warm and inviting.
"I'll stick to pasta," I replied, offering a small smile and passing the menu to the waiter.
Loffy's orders were more elaborate, and I marveled at the array of dishes that graced our table. He insisted that I should order whatever I desired, his generosity and thoughtfulness endearing.
"Isn't this too much?" I ventured, my eyes wide.
He shook his head, a playful glint in his eyes. "Just enjoy."
We dined leisurely, our conversations flowing effortlessly as we savored the delectable cuisine. The atmosphere was rich with laughter, the initial awkwardness fading into comfortable companionship.
I was thoroughly engrossed in Loffy's tales and anecdotes, my earlier hesitations and shyness replaced by genuine enjoyment. His presence was intoxicating, his genuine interest in my thoughts and opinions a novel experience.
As we finished our meal, Loffy's attention shifted to a sauce on the corner of my lips. His touch was gentle as he wiped it away with a tissue, leaving me momentarily breathless. I watched him, my heart fluttering, as he chuckled at my stunned reaction.
"You look cute," he remarked, his voice low and charming. I blushed, my cheeks warming as I averted my gaze, a shy smile tugging at my lips.
The evening continued with a trip to the mall, where Loffy's easygoing nature and company put me at ease. We watched a romantic comedy that had us both laughing, and I found myself playfully swatting at Loffy's arm during particularly comedic scenes.
As we left the cinema, our animated discussion continued, buoyed by the shared experience. Loffy's invitation to shop for shoes caught me off guard, but I readily agreed.
We explored the shoe store together, engaging in playful banter as we weighed the merits of different options. Loffy's earnestness and openness made it easy for me to offer my honest opinions.
"Balenciaga for the office, Gucci for your personal style," I suggested, and Loffy nodded in agreement.
Purchasing the shoes became an eye-opening experience when I saw the black card Loffy used for payment. My joking comment about "rich people daily living" earned a chuckle and a friendly pat on the head from him.
Amidst our laughter and discussions, we encountered Liam unexpectedly. The exchange between them revealed a camaraderie that surprised me, and I watched the interaction with curiosity.
Finally, Loffy dropped me off at my condo, and we exchanged gratitude for the evening. The anticipation of another day spent with him filled me with a warm sense of contentment.
"See you tomorrow?" he asked, and I nodded with a smile.
"Sure, 8 am," I confirmed, feeling a mixture of excitement and gratitude for the unexpected connection we were building.
As he drove away, I couldn't help but reflect on the day's events. The fancy restaurant, the candid conversations, the shared laughter—it had been an escape from the demands of my internship. Loffy had given me a glimpse of a world beyond the hospital's walls, a world where possibilities stretched before me like an open road.
And so, as I settled into my condo, I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude. For the first time in a while, I found myself eagerly looking forward to what the future might hold.
