ANNA

" what?"she screamed as she turned to face me.

" I know, I know, J," I said and stood up.

"w..what,h..how, w...where.., w..hen, " she asked almost out of breath.

" I don't know, J," I answered honestly.

" What?" she screamed for the second time today.

" I think he is the ceo of Smiths, I mean, I think Xavier Davies is my boss," I answered, observing her facial expressions.

" b.. bu.. but" she began before she sighed in defeat.

" Are you sure?" she finally asked after some moments of silence.

" Not entirely," I said, biting the base of my lips.

" Well, he said nothing to me and..." I sighed and sat down.

" I don't know, J," I said as I gave up trying to explain why I thought my new ceo was Xavier Davies.

" hold on" she suddenly said, and brought out her phone.

she spent the next five minutes doing something on her phone. she suddenly put her phone to my face.

I looked at what she was showing me for some time before I collected the phone from her hand.

It was an article about the company, stating everything about the company. My eyes kept scanning till it got to the part about a new ceo.And I stared at the name for some minutes as I analysed my emotions. it wasn't him quite alright because the name that stared back at me was Xavier Smith and not Xavier Davies.

I didn't know how to feel, I wanted to sigh in relief, but a part of me felt sad.

I looked at Jane as she stared back at me, none of us saying a word, but understanding what each other wanted to say through our eyes.

XAVIER

" Is everything alright, sir?" Helen asked, looking at me with concern. It seemed I had been picking at my food and she noticed.

" yes" I answered forcing a smile. " Good food by the way" I said so she doesn't feel like I didn't want to eat her food.

Actually, food was the least of my worries as I still couldn't wrap my head around all the events that happened in one day.

"Thank you," she responded with a smile.

" You are welcome," I responded and tried to put more effort into eating even though I didn't really feel like it.

After my dinner, I went into my room to sleep,

But it seemed that the sleep didn't want to come.

XAVIER

I kept on turning.......

And I didn't realise that I slept off till I woke up the next morning.

ANNA

I woke up feeling better than I had been the previous night.

" Good morning" I greeted the receptionist as I walked past her.

" Good morning sir" she answered with a smile.

I ignored the stares from everyone and walked straight to my office.

I had made a decision and that included :

1:nothing

2: nothing

3: nothing .......

and so the list of ' nothings' is endless.

I mean, I literally didn't know what to do, so I decided to do nothing and just watch everything play out.

suddenly, I heard a knock on my door. " come in" I shouted from inside.

" heeeeeyyyyyyy" my mum screamed as she walked into the office.

" Good morning mum" I greeted, slightly taken aback by her impromptu visitation.

" morning darling" she said as she sat down.

" so, how is my young ceo doing" she asked immediately she was seated.

" not bad, how are you and dad doing" I asked wondering about my dad.

" Well, not bad" she responded before looking intently at me.

" are you sure you are fine"? she began as she continued inspecting me with her eyes.

" yes mum" I responded flashing her a smile.

" is anything bothering you, maybe something that will affect your appetite" she asked again and I immediately realised what was going on. ' Helen had told her of my lack of appetite'.

" why do you ask, did someone tell you anything" I asked her as I smiled lightly.

" w.well, yes, a little bird told me that my lively son has not been eating she said not realising that I knew already.

" Well, maybe I should give the little birdie a name, mmmm..I began pretending to think, how about Helen? I said with a slight chuckle.

she slowly began to chuckle along when She realised that she had been caught.

"But come on, she was just looking out for you. " she said when she finished chuckling.

" Anyways, I brought food for you okay" she said pointing to the lunchbox she had with her. " it contains all of you favourites" she added and stood up.

" thanks mum" I said to her.

" I have to go, I have an appointment with some clients" she said and made her way to the door.

" alright mum,bye" I said to her just as she was about to open the door.

" you know I'm always here for you right" she said and closed the door.

I smiled at her, i guess it was safe to say that I had the best mom in the world.

ANNA

I slowly walked towards the company. Atleast now I was sure that I wasn't him.

It ws confirmed quite alright that he was not xaviet Davies but Xavier Smith.

I didn't know why but a part of me wanted it to be him.

I didn't realise that I had been thinking until I heard a loud horn blaring in my ear.

I turned towards the direction of the sound, but what I saw Almost made me jump up in fright.

The space between my legs and the car was soo small, quite smaller than an inch.

I had, for the first time,been soo close to dying or losing one of my legs.

I saw everything, my life,my job,my legs ,everything flash before my eyes as my mission became more blurry and I blacked out.
