Dinner night 101

ANNA

We looked out of the window and guess who i saw, the annoying driver.

Now that is suspicious.

we watched him walk towards the door before he knocked.

Now I was unsure, to be scared or curious.

He knocked again.

Jane walked towards the door, holding a small tennis bat that was behind the door.

" Hi, I'm Andrew, and I was assigned to drive Miss Anna. He replied cautiously

" Where exactly are you taking her?" Jane asked with an intimidating gaze.

" Sunrise estate," he replied in a low tone. It seems he was really intimidated.

" I would drive her there myself," she said and brought out her key to his face.

" No miss...." he began to say but was silenced when she suddenly brought out the tennis bat threatingly.

" okay miss" he said and swallowed hard before chuckling nervously.

" we would be right behind you," she replied with a sly smile. seems she was enjoying the whole show.

I smiled genuinely, in a way, she had taken revenge against the annoying driver for me while still trying to keep me safe.

" Let's go," she said and waved me over.

" yes miss" I responded with a soft chuckle and followed behind her.

I felt safer, much more relaxed.

I was trying so hard to not think about the strange dream,trying so hard to focus on work and not worry why I had a dream as strange as that on a Friday morning. trying not to remember the crying face of Anna.

I had watched this whole event play out in high school, and like my dream, I stood there foolishly and watched her walk away.

The day went by slowly as i tried to avoid any contact with Anna.

I mean, it is for my own good. right?

right?

I had totally forgotten about the said dinner with the strange person till mum called to remind me.

"Hope you didn't forget about the dinner" she said immediately I picked the call.

It was just some minutes past six and I just got home from the company.

"s**t" I half screamed

"language young man" she corrected immediately.

"sorry mom" I apologised.

"I actually forgot about the dinner" I confessed.

she paused for a moment before she continued.

"it's fine if you can't come" she said with a sigh.

And once again, I know what you are thinking, that my mum is soo sweet and considerate.

"Fine mum" I said softly," I would be there before the dinner is over" I continued.

"okay son" she squealed. of course, her plan had worked.

"but don't be too late,or you would have nothing to eat" she said matter of factly.

"alright mrs Daniels smith" I said and she chuckled before ending the call.

I sighed,Sunrise estate was just an hour from the estate I lived in,without traffic of course.

I had to get ready,but I had no idea on what to wear, I had no idea who the guest was. I mean, I didn't even know if it was a male or a female.

ANNA

" you know, I was beginning to think you wouldn't follow the driver" the strange woman said flashing me a smile.

But I wasn't paying attention.

Rather, I was taking in the beauty and elegance of my surroundings.

It was simply magnificent.

There was at least, eight cars in the compound. all of them resembling the one that was driven by the annoying driver.

There was flowers in every corner of the compound.

And that was just the outside.

The inside of the house was even better.

it looked just like a palace, it had the best things.

From the best furniture to the best curtains and even the best smell.

(sorry, I suck at descriptions)

I was left wowed, that I even forgot all about playing safe.

" Miss" the strange woman called bringing me back to earth cause I was so sure I was on a different planet.

" I'm so sorry, it's just that your house is soo beautiful " I admitted, not being able to hold it in.

" Thank you " she replied with a smile that screamed elegance.

The way her lips curled up when she smiled reminded me of someone, someone I hadn't seen In a long while.

" I forgot to ask of your name" I said quietly. I wasn't going to make the same mistake of not asking of her name.

" my name?" the strange woman said and chuckled lightly. " I can't believe I forgot to tell you my name. she added sniffling a chuckle. Anyways, since I know your name, it would only be fair that you know mine, right?"

I could only nod not sure if that was a rhetorical question.

" well, my name is ..............

The drive to Sunrise estate was surprisingly free from heavy traffic and so it took about forty five minutes for me to get to the villa.

Yes villa, my parents lived in a villa. And that is also where I grew up.

I couldn't find my mum or the said guest when I got to the sitting room.

" where is my mum" I asked one of the maids working in the villa.

" in her personal dining room" she reserved with a flirty smile.

Even maids are trying to seduce me.

Unbelievable.

But did she just say my mom's personal dining room, was the person that important that my mom allowed them into her personal dining room.

" come in " I heard from inside the dining room.

it was my mum and she was ....chuckling loudly.

" hi son" my mum said as i entered.

" I was beginning to think you wouldn't make it, she added.

" come, we were waiting for you before we had dinner" she said trying to hide a smile.

But I wasn't listening, my gaze was focused on the lady that was sitting in the dining room.

Her back was faced to me, and so, I couldn't see her face.

Her hair was long and brown with a little pink on the edges.

" wouldn't you say hi to our guest?" mum said accidentally letting out a slight chuckle.

she knew something I didn't.

I stood rooted to the spot as the lady stood up to face me. It was like I had seen a ghost.

" hi best friend " she said with a smirk.
