Crossing The Line With You (COMPLETED)

Chapter Two

After seeing Sam drove off, Meghan continued inside the apartment building and went towards the lift. Her unit is on the fifth floor, she moved in six months ago and so far she has no complain, her landlord is nice and easy to talk to. The neighbors from the other units are friendly and considerate. As what Sam said earlier, all the necessities are just step away.

She enters her unit and prepared to go to bed. It has been a long day but she enjoyed most of it especially the time with Sam. Even she has been working with Sam for two years this is the first time she has been this close to her, most of the time she will just give instruction and take her leave, purely professional. 

Meghan looked at the watch on the wall, it says 2am but she does not feel sleepy at all. She took a glass and pour herself a wine, she has nothing to do in the morning so she will just stay in bed 'til late. She opens the TV and scan the channel for anything she can watch. None of it interest her so she just switches it off. She gulfed the wine on the glass put it down in the sink and went to bed. Sleep seems to be still far on her mind.

She closed her eyes but all she can see is the smiling green eyes in front of her earlier. How her cheeks went red when she was embarrassed with the couple from the other table. Her pink lips, Meghan wondered how soft is it and how would that feel to kiss them.

'Oh s**t!' Meghan jumped out of her bed and stomped the room.

'Oh s**t, s**t, s**t! What's wrong with me! God, I am fantasizing my boss! I know I find her beautiful the first time I saw her and crushing on her since but never like this! I think it's the wine, relax Meghan it is just the alcohol working.' She relaxes herself and went back to bed.

Sam woke up with a ringing of her phone.  It is 7 in the morning, she want to curse whoever is calling.  She wanted to ignore it but decided to check who. She looks at her phone and saw Gilbert Wang flashing on the screen.

'Hello!' She immediately answers.

'Good morning Sam! I hope I did not wake you. I know it is early but I was so excited to talk to you and I just ignored the time.'

'Oh Gilbert, it is fine! I have been waiting for your call. With the sound of your voice, tell me we got it!'

'Yes Sam! It is a go! And with that I need you to come ASAP like next week!'

'Next week? I will tell Meghan to move my appointments. I will take a flight on Tuesday, will that work?'

'That will be great! I will gather the whole team on Wednesday, the earlier we start, the better! I am so excited!'

'Me too Gilbert! Thank you for helping me out. I really appreciate this.'

'Oh come on Sam! Don't be emotional on me! This is a happy day! We both wanted this!  We will celebrate when you get here! Send me your flight details and I will have someone picked you up at the airport. And you cannot stay in the hotel, I have a lots of room in my mansion!' Gilbert gave a good laugh.

'Thank you Gilbert! I will see you on Tuesday! Bye!'

Sam took a deep breathe, everything is falling into place. Her company is still going strong, and this project with Gilbert is now pushing through. What else can she ask for? She thought of Meghan.

'It is still early to call. I will just send her a message.' She typed on her phone and press send.

She pours herself coffee and went to her office. If she will be away for a week or so she better catch up on her work, so her team can move while she's away. She opens her laptop and went through each of the document that requires her attention. She heard her phone buzz.

'Hi Ms. Elliot sorry for replying late. Is there anything I can help you with?' A message from Meghan. It was already 10:00 am. Instead of sending another message, she pressed the call button.

'Hi Meghan, sorry for sending you a message so early and waking you up on a Saturday.' Sam apologetically said from the other line.

'It is fine Ms. Elliot I am just staying at home the whole weekend, planning to binged watch some series in Netflix.' Meghan gave a chuckle.

'That would be nice but I am really sorry you will need to postpone it for today. I need you to come to work today, something urgent came up and I will need you to rearrange my appointments and setup an urgent meeting with the whole team. I will need to fly out on Tuesday morning and stay with Gilbert for few weeks.'

Hearing the name Gilbert always gave Meghan a different type of emotion but she won't admit. She has met Gilbert Wang and she cannot blame Sam if she likes him, he has everything, good looks and money. He is also a nice person and funny.  They actually looked good together and she always find Sam smiling whenever she talks to Gilbert.

'Meghan? Are you still there?' Sam asked.

'Yes, Ms. Elliot. Let me just picked up my car and then I will go straight to office. It will be around lunch time. I will also grab lunch for us on the way.'

'Thank you Meghan. And Meghan?'

'Yes Ms. Elliot?'

'It is Sam, please drop the Ms. Elliot. From now on if it is just us, just call me Sam.'

'Ok Sam. See you later.'

Meghan quickly went to the bathroom and took a bath. She opens her wardrobe and decided to just wear her skinny blue jeans and a white top. She looked at herself in the mirror.

'This will do. I don't need to be in business attire. I am sure she won't mind.' She took her phone and book a car ride to pick up her car. She also sends a food order for her to pick up along the way. If her estimates are correct she should be in Sam's office at 12:30 latest.

Meghan looked at the time on the dashboard, 12:20PM. She smiled, took her bag and her takeout, walk towards the lift and punch the code to 50th floor. In front of Sam's unit, she pressed the doorbell and wait for Sam to open the door. Though she has the code to get, she feels like it is better not just to barged as this is her boss's private place.

Sam went to the door and look at the camera before opening. When she sees Meghan, she smiled and open the door.

'Hi Meghan, sorry for asking you to come but thank you.'

'Hi Sam, I am already here and no need to apologized. I know you will not call me if not necessary but if it is ok can we eat lunch first?' Sam smiled and pulled her to the kitchen.

Meghan took out the food from the bag. She bought pasta and soup and also a spread of sushi. It came from the same store. She was lucky to have seen while on her way to a client meeting, and after trying it once it became her favorite shop. They have a wide spread and the taste will not disappoint.

Sam gave Meghan all the instruction after lunch. She did not mention any details about the trip and only asked Meghan to book her a flight. The whole afternoon Meghan was quiet but continue to complete her task. She also ordered dinner for them as the team agreed to have a virtual meeting at 8pm. It was a long meeting but they all pushed through until they end at midnight.

After the meeting, Meghan started picking up all the documents and her notes and keep them on her envelope, she will still need to type it all in and summarize to share to the whole team for reference. Sam watched Meghan as she also picked up all the left-over food and boxes on the table, when she finished it is almost 1am.

'Sam, I have to go. If there's anything else that came to mind please call me, ok?'

'Ah, Meghan. It is late and we are both tired. I will not be comfortable if you will still drive at this hour. I will appreciate it if you will just stay, I have an extra room, and some Pjs that you can change to.'

'No Sam, it is fine. I am still ok to drive.'

'Please.' Sam flees and Meghan agreed. 'Thank you Meghan. Follow me so you can rest.'

Sam took Meghan to the guest room opposite her own room, point her the wardrobe and instruct her to just take whatever she needs.

'Good night, Meghan.' She closed the door behind her.

'Good night, Sam.' Meghan whisper, she lay down on the bed and remembered Sam will be away with Gilbert Wang. She cannot contain the emotion she has since afternoon when Sam was giving her instructions on what to do.

'Meghan, stop it!' she told herself, she can hear the sadness in her voice.
